  • Can you tell me which model subaru that engine came from?

  • Cherrybomb muffler!? Haha nice!

  • where did you find an ea81 ive been looking everywhere for one.... how did you mount the radiator ??? would an ea82 work

  • Where did you mount the radiator? I am curious to see. I am planning on doing this same conversion to mine soon.

  • @bahabandit Radiator is mounted where the spare tire went. 1 1/4" pipes are run underneath the car. Cooling was my biggest issue. The long pipes put too much back pressure on the small water pump. Like my brother I would now get rid of the storage compartment behind the back seat by cutting it out and inverting it. this opened up the engine bay almost to the back seat! He then mounted the radiator right over where the engine and transaxle meet. He has had no cooling problems.

  • looked liked something came out of your carb at 0:45

  • @herbienbrian2 yeah, its water. I had just washed the car. I think the alternator cooling blade was blowing the water around.

  • @wulfensteinster

    cool, just making sure!

I'd hate to see such an awesome conversion fall to the same crematory fate that so many VW's have.

  • subaru power!!!!

  • very Gooooood !!!which model(engine) of subaru is this????? thanks

  • @nickmpak this is the EA81 from the late '80's early '90's. Solid engine!

  • do u install the engine to the same tranny or change to the Subaru tranny too ?

  • thats one mean bug.

  • more reliability? now i find that extremely hard to believe...

  • I always wondered what was involved in this swap and just how much HP & RPM gain there was over a stock 1600 cc vw motor, it looks like you did a nice job, I can remember back in the day I could pull one motor out of my 62 bug and have another one in and running in about 20 minutes which was cool but I seen somewhere two guys did it in like 2 1/2 minutes and that put my record to shame.

  • @tomsxz I guess you can try if you want...? Why do you keep watching beetle videos?

  • @tomsxz damn too bad you spelled it wrong...

  • @tomsxz Who is Bettles?

  • @tomsxz Yup I totally agree, f**k bettles...whatever they are. I love beetles though, and my Subaru engined camper

  • @tomsxz fuck you

  • that bolt straight to the Volks trans or was there alittle cut and past needed?

  • @Kpizza There is an adapter plate made by Kennedy Engeneered Products. Other than that the actual engine mounting was a straight bolt on deal. about 2 hours total. A little cut and paste was needed for the cooling.

  • Great job. Sounds nice and sweet. I made a subaru conversion too, but placed the radiators behind the rear seat. Up to now it seems to work nicely.

  • @AthenTL Thanks, We really like the sound too.

  • @wulfensteinster I been wanting a beetle for a long time but dont plan on keeping a standard engine in one, i was wondering what year beetle i would be best off buying and what engine you have in yours

  • is that an ea81 or ea71? either way, those engines are dead reliable.

  • The cooling on this car goes from the engine to the front of the car where a radiator is placed in the spare tire well and back.

  • @wulfensteinster Is it enough to have make a intake under the front or did you cut out/mesh the bonnet? Getting a Subaru in my oval this summer:)

  • @1986SoWhat u mean opel.

  • @mmckeand91 No, i mean oval:)

  • How is the liquid cooling set up? Just always wondered about that with these swaps.

  • excelent sound!!!
