Guys, If killerringer does not show up in effects it may be you are using the wrong version of Audacity.
My first attempt failed with the free version of Audacity.
I'll probably get thrown of for this: In your google search box put in AUDACITY(followed by the name of a well known file downloading site that begins with RAP)
Seek out and download a FULL copy of Audacity and unzip. BEFORE you run programme add killerringer into plug-Ins folder then run Audacity it should work.
Doesn't seem to work on Audacity on Windows 7. However, I did get it to work on Reaper. Only thing is, the variables look different. Haven't been able to get a Dalek voice, but I have been quite good at getting a Cyberman's voice...at least from the newer series.
The main difference appears to be in the range-the helmet seems to be limiting your voice to midrange. You can also do this in audacity with a filter.
Why does your voice keep jumping to stereo-it makes this vid very hard to listen to :\
@MsipmsonW Nice tutorial; thanks for showing how to do this. I will have to try it out. Anyway, Audacity is cross-platform; you should be able to do all this in Audacity on a Mac or Linux machine as well, let alone any version of Windows dating back to XP (so long as you have the right permissions - assuming you are doing this on a non-work machine that you own, that should certainly be the case). Cheers!
@bmw328driver Sorry; my mistake. I see the plug-in is a DLL, and the accompanying documentation says it is a plugin for Windows or Mac. Given that it is a DLL, I would think that would limit it to Windows....
@blank992 I'm sorry, I don't know what's going on. Most people are having the same problem. Perhaps you should ask my friend dalekidea. He mite beable to help you.
For a Remembrance of the Daleks voice you'll have too shout in a higher voice and set it over around 0.0042-48 on both root pitch and speed. It's tricky work though.
@dalekidea yeah I found that out like the first 3 times, had to wait until my roommates weren't around to shout. I am a nerd, but I do have some threshold of embarrasment.
Does this work for Mac?
Ballyorca 16 hours ago
@Ballyorca I don't know. I've never used Audacity on a Mac.

If you cant see Killerringer in effects you need to rescan the vst. Go to Edit > Preferences > Effects > Tick Rescan and restart the program.

@blank992 find a vst bridge dll and move that to the plugins folder as well.
brovie96 1 year ago
you may need the vst-bridge plugin if you're using a cubase killerringer plugin.

I think what you need to do is after you've downloading the killerringer you need to put the effect in the plug in folder.
You go to Program Files when you keep the software, then Audacity, Plug-Ins and put it in there. Something like that I think.

Thanks so much for this. Bought an RC Dalek at Comic-Con and want to make videos, this was a huge help.
kasperhauseredux 2 years ago 5
this is a good tutorial but to be honest to achieve maimum dalek efficiency you need to shout when you do your voice or aplify it more
dalekidea 2 years ago 9
@dalekidea can you give us a hint as to why the .dll file isn't working?
jokester007 1 year ago
@jokester007 it's not working because like gaaratoast and wiz0floyd said, you need VST enabler for Audacity, Google it!
