  • i had a dislocation at th sc joint of the collar bone and had to have surgery

  • Dear MarcDarwin

    It's grade V

    Thanks

  • Is this a grade 3 or a grade 5 ? Thanks for the help

  • it's painful as hell when you get that, it looks like a grade 2 but why did he(she) get surgery.

i had grade 3 and went to physio, did my exercises for 3 months and continuing and now my shoulder is back at about 90-93% and i can play football again.

  • I got hit by a car a week ago riding my bike, and I'm pretty sure this is what's going on with my collarbone (ER didn't tell me what was wrong with my shoulder, just that I didn't break anything). I'm supposed to see a physical therapist this week, will they be able to pop it back into place?

  • if your clavicle is moving like that it means you have torn some or all of the ligaments that attach it to your scapula

  • Moving?

  • you might have ligament tears at your shoulder

ER must have taken a CT, they didnt see it?

  • @blickblocks if its a shoulder separeation like in this video then no, this is cause by damage to the ligaments in the shoulder and only surgery would return it back into its place, but you only have surgery if the seperation is grade 3 or above. I got grade 2 and just hasd physiotherepy, still got a lump but i can do everything i could do before.

  • Does anyone know how long it takes to fix? I've done mine in, but delaying surgery as i cant afford to spend months with one arm!

  • Well, I just ordered a hard plastic chest protector like motorcross riders wear, It looks like it'll protect my shoulders real nice.

the last thing I'm going to need when I start riding again is another seperation. :(

Im glad you don't have such a sever one like I did, from what I understand yours should go back to 100% normal.

I'll have to live with a weaker left shoulder for the rest of my life now. But I guess thats what it takes to do something I love as much as mountain biking.

  • is your name matt?

  • Nope, I'm guessing he seperated his shoulder whilebiking too?

    Sorry, not him.

  • Ive got that right now :(

  • same and i need it healed in 8 days

  • How'd you do yours?

I fell off my mountain bike.

I'm feeling so much better now after a month, But I guess It'll take another 6 weeks to completely heal. :(

  • same well i did my right a grade 2 like 2 months ago and as soon as i got riding again on my new bike came of a drop badly and landed on the other 1 , i hope its only a grade 1 it really hurts but i havnt been to hospital cos they will just say the same as last time and i already have a sling . . . .. is there ny way u can find out which grade it is ?

  • I don't know of any way, if you went to the Doctor, they'd probably have you try to do certain movements with your shoulder, to see how severe it is.

How big was the drop? I was approaching a dirt jump when my front wheel washed out. :(

  • umm it waz 2 i did the 1st 1 ok then crashed smashing my shoulder wen i fell down the other 1 which waz prob about 2m, there wud be no point goin 2 the doctors lol cos my mum is 1 and i have done it in my other shoulder falling off my bike bout 3 months earlier lol
