while I waited for this vid to finish buffing I noticed that your chum behind you looks like a consciense...good or bad I dunno haha. anyways, I went to a wedding at Sakinaw lake four days ago and we wanted to check out the Narrows when we left but were strapped for time, we saw the museum and gift centre but they said it would be a clear two hours there and back even on the rush....wah for us, we went home. Will definitely make this a trip in the winter or whenever time permits hahaha.
Sorry for my delay in replying to your comment. I had no idea what my buddy was up to as I was filming, but it all seems to work well! As for him being my conscience, that gave me a good laugh - thanks:-) I cannot recommend this hike highly enough - beautiful scenery, and with the right timing, a spectacular display of the power of Nature!
Apologies for my tardy response to your comment. I can easily see how drowning would be a strong possibility there - the sheer volume & power of the flow is nuts! The kayakers who ventured out into the current looked as though they were having a great time, but it takes immense skill to navigate this channel, and being on the bank was as close as I wanted to get.
Best show is a "peak outflow tide" when a MASSIVE whirlpool forms on the ocean side of the narrows. It's a dangerous place to play, though; my brother lost a good friend who boated through the narrows as a teen. His group missed slack water and he was drowned when the boat tipped.
