749 American servicemen died, 309 of them died due to British friendly-fire from HMS Hawkins. It was a higher death toll than the initial D-Day landings on Utah Beach, Normandy. Doesn't matter it was given order from Eisenhower, that doesn't excuse that Royal navy killing over 309 US servicemen. But it's the thing of the past and move on.
enough with the arguments people.... this man gave all he had for us and alot more gave their lives, the least we can do is give this man 7min 03sec and no bad comments.
Thank you very much for this video. I know its hard for our vets to talk about that day and the rest of the war. A lot cannot bring themselves to talk about it, and rightfully so. He is the man for opening up and sharing. I had a Great Uncle that served in Nam and was killed by land mine. 5 Stars my friend!
The interest is just the internet. Youtube is just youtube, but this is the future communication system and history recording storys for all you and your childrens. If you think making bad or stupid comments about this video on youtube. You have no idea what your comment on about and you know nothing about war. My grandfather was a soldier during this time and he was a hero. I pray that your soul will rest in peace one day hero.
Possibly one of the most moving postings on youtube. They say time is a great healer...well not when it comes to war as this man clearly shows. We who were not there cannot even begin to imagine the horrors these men witnessed and the sacrifice they made to preserve our freedom.
john ive mentioned on other videos that my father was flying over when his radio officer noted suspicous movement.he flew his beufighter round and later bombed the e,boats returning towards the french coast,my dad never got a metion ref to op tiger and i have a german dvd all about the scene and they interview my dad.
have the right to do so because of fine old men like this man.Had the axis of evil won this war,you would not be enjoying the lifestyle you do today.Show respect because he deserves it!
My father was aboard LST515 during Exercise Tiger. The men who served during this tragic operation were "patched up" , told they would brought to justice before a military court, and sent off to D-Day. These men were ABS- abel bodied seaman who initially took part in their first major exercise. The entire town was cleared out( Devon, England). The men were buried in mass unmarked graves totaling approximately 729. Several years later; their belongings ironically surfaced by a beachcomber!
GOD DAMN- your comment is crude. This veteran took the time out to EDUCATE people about war, far beyond what is portrayed in movies and video games. Give him the common decency to hear his story. Maybe through his experiences; his lessons learned will change potential future events. We each have the ability to utilize our voices as a means of extended communication. Enabling wisdom in order to prevent future military mishaps. Clearly, this individual lives with PTSD.
im not a muslim, i am proud of my country....what did i say? my grandfather went to war with the japanes and they did realy bad shit to us. I make one comment and i get attackt by fools like you, who do you think you are? youre not the fukn moral police....get a life and stop picking at others comments.

I came here to take in whatever I could about the war and I came across the crap you left. Lol and are you implying I knew what you typed before I read it? Because that's the only way I could have known not to read it dumbass. Do you think before you type anything?
Yeah this is youtube, and you decided to leave your opinion. It just so happens that I thought I'd leave mine too, sorry to disappoint you. By the way, who the hell are you to tell me to "be an adult" after that crap you just threw at me. This is someones Uncle/grandfather/brother pouring their heart out about their experience in the war and you leave something like that. Get some sence man
I am so glad for this vid. I know it's hard for vets to talk about it. My grandfather won't. But it is really important that their individual stories are heard before they are gone forever.
people cant understand what the face of war truly looks like unless they are there themselves. hearing the stories of the Brave, and the Heroes of our soldiers can show people that war is not always the answer. look what this amazing man deals with all these years later, imagine what our soldiers are dealing with today as they sit in the battle field. please keep posting numerous stories so we can all learn and cherish what our brave soldiers do for us. thank you... from a former soldier...
Thank you for posting this, I really cherish listening to war stories from those who were there. I can can really see and feel this mans emotions as he spoke.
Thanks for all the good comments he was a great man
