  • I am curious can a person with Exercise Induced Asthma go into the gas chamber? How will a person with EIA be effected by the gas? (Also I am 14 years old so please go easy on me with the questions I am asking I just want to know.)

  • @destinyimpulse123 You may wish to consult a physician. The gas definitely restricts your ability to breathe, eliciting a choking sensation, with severe burning of eyes.

  • It's funny cause when u walk out the chamber you feel like a god cause u realize you been threw the worst pain ... N death

  • hahaha f psss, in the marines we had to sing and pt inside the gas chamber,

  • lol i remember my first time in a ''gas chamber'' im one of those few people who tear gas dosent seem to bother a whole. lot had to stay behind with the sarg and he set light to another tablet thing he was all in my face like wtf fun times and good times.

  • @greyandme2 Yeah, we had a guy who stood there smiling like a fool. Which was awesome, because our RDC (I was Navy) videotaped it, then showed us later.

  • @No1Complainer it was just the second one combined with the effects of the first one that was still floating about in the air that got me. but no one really reacted like they did in this video no flapping of the arms anyway : )

  • haha my dad told me when he did this there was a tree right outside the doorway so you wouldnt run but there was blood stains on it.

  • dang what awas this i like 93?

  • whats this song?

  • @thepaladin2 The band is Buffalo Springfield and the song is titled "For What It's Worth" though most people call it "Stop, Children, What's That Sound."

  • Haha I remember doing this in boot camp. I had a 103 temperature and my RTC wouldn't let me back out. Ended up going to the emergency room after passing out. Woke up with IV's attached and two days in sick bay. My best 2 days in boot camp lol.

  • I went there in 1994 D-3-10 Road Dogs! NO females for 10 weeks..Wow..ANY Female after that was a target!

  • somebody plz give me the best detailed description that you can of what the five senses go through here. is this the same exact procedure as today?

  • C CO 323rd bat 3rd infantry regiment Ft Jackson good times i had just recovered from having bronchitis this actually helped clear my sinus alot! had snot literally dangling from my nose to my knees, we had to unseal our mask say our name and recite the soldiers creed or the Drill sergeant would ask for one of the general orders, i was unlucky...had to recite the creed lol

  • @LordLeralu LOL "I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved!"

  • The Man from Muncie! Thanks so much! Stay tuned! :-)

  • Good to see this on here. I don't remember, but you did basic at Ft. Leonard Wood didn't you. That's the same voice that I have on my VHS tape from a month before you. He must love his job! I have been thinking of doing the same thing and uploading clips from my video.

  • @chipadams1 Norm! What's up old fellow! Yes, I did basic at Ft. Lost in the Woods. A-6-10! Alpha Company, 6th Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment! "Courage and Fidelity!!!" Good times .... ? :-)

  • @valdez13 Good Times indeed! I could use some basic training right now. Best weight loss program I ever did. I lost about twenty pounds in basic. I was in A-4-10. Keep up the good work. I've been checking out your uploads - good stuff.

  • Don't worry -- you only go in once! If you are Infantry you might go in more.

  • for how long and how many times during basic training do you go into the gas chamber? im shipping out to fort jackson in 4 months :S im scare shitleessss

  • gas chamber was alot easier back then lol

  • Okay the gas chamber scares me! to be honest...and i know i definately need to work on running..but i could keep up with the guys on pushups n stuff... any advice on the gas chamber? and anything to make me a little less scared lol

  • @militarygirl580 My only advice is not to eat any chili mac that day! But then again, they usually wait until after you eat to spring on you that today is "the day." Other than just practice and pay attention to donning your mask/clearing your mask, it will all be over quickly. From the time your face begins to burn and your lungs start to scream until the time you feel okay, is only like five or six minutes. But it's ... memorable.

  • @valdez13 well its a good thing that "chilli mac" doesnt sound good lol...and i think the mask will be fine..I'm used to my mask i wear for firefighting. Im just very very nervous..Oh and idk if you will know this but i was told that you have to do the gas chamber once a year to re-certify..is that true? Thank you so much! I'm still nervous but it helped

  • @militarygirl580 Probably depends on the unit, how often you have to certify. I was in a medical unit, so I only did the real deal in basic, and then once again at Ft. Knox, but we didn't have to take our masks off that time. Other infantry units or maybe chemical units probably do have to do it more frequently. Glad to be of help.

  • how many times do you have to do this during training?

  • @TheDevenrocks You train train train for it, but only have to go through the chamber once. I suppose if you cheat and they find out (i.e. hold breath, run out, etc.) they might make you do it again. Later, during bivouac (the field exercise) where you live out in the woods and dig foxholes, they threw gas grenades at us, but it was out in the open air and you had time to don your mask.

  • @valdez13 oh so you have to go through the actually chamber 1 time? and when you say the woods thing.....are you alone or with someone else?

  • @TheDevenrocks The culmination of the basic training experience is a three or four day field exercise out in the woods. You all do a 12 mile hike out there with all your gear in your rucksack, and your M16 slung across the top. Once you arrive, you are given your areas of assignment. Each platoon covers a certain sector. You dig a foxhole and setup your tent. You and a buddy share the tent. Everyone goes on missions together and gets ambushed by the instructors. It's actually fun. :-)

  • @valdez13 lol sounds fun...... so is basic training as hard as they say? like whats the hardest and easiest parts? Im planning on joining in 2 years after i graduate high school and i rather be ready then not :P

  • @TheDevenrocks The hardest part for most new recruits is passing the pushup test. To graduate (at least when I got out after 8 years in 2003), the new 18 yr old males had to do 36 pushups to graduate basic, and I think the females had to do 13. Just to start basic, females had to be able to do 3 full/real pushups, I think - and males had to do like 11. So if you want to join, I would advise doing a little each day. Like before I joined, I did 10 everytime I entered my bedroom. Jog too.

  • @valdez13 yeah i do 50 pushups everyday (sets of 10 after 10 sit ups) so im pretty ready for that :P and one last question what excatly is AIT and what do you do for it? do you train like basic for muscles or something else ? :/

  • @TheDevenrocks AIT stands for Advanced Individual Training and it is basically "tech school." That's where you learn your profession: tank school, artillery, how to be a cook, air traffic control, how to be an MP, etc. You continue your physical training but the emphasis is on how to do a job. Some AITs are better than others. Mine for instance guaranteed me a job on the outside. I repair medical equipment, and the military school is the best in the country. Try for a job that will be

  • marketable on the outside as well. For instance, lots of my friends who were tankers or infantrymen couldn't get a job right away. Others who had jobs in medical equipment repair, electronics, computers, translating, air traffic control, etc - got high paying jobs easily. The military makes for an excellent resume. HOWEVER - that brings me to my next point ...

  • @TheDevenrocks I would definitely explore other options first. The military was great for me, but I do sometimes wish I had done things differently, especially seeing how things operate once I got in. I joined because I didn't have the grades for a scholarship to go to college, and I didn't have the money. If I had to do it over again, I would have went to an inexpensive community college for at least two years. Joining up with that much college would have meant really fast promotions.

  • You get promotion points for each college credit under your belt, and once you are in, it is hard to rack them up, as you have to go to night school and work around hectic army schedules. Also, if you go to college for two years, you might surprise yourself at how well you are doing, and might earn scholarships to cover the last two years. OR -- go for four years, get a bachelors in something, and THEN join the army. They will pay for all! I got 15k but another got 50k college debt paid off!

  • @valdez13 wow but only reason i would join army is to go to college not enough money for anything else.... then im planning on going to some type of welding school.

  • ahh sweet loving memories ;]

  • what kind of gas do they use?

  • @bjurstrom33 CS gas its like pepper spray

  • @bjurstrom33 Yes, like ezekielishappy says, it was CS gas. I think it's the kind they use on riots and mobs. Really clears out the nasal passages!

If I close my eyes, I can still smell the gas in my mind like it was yesterday...

  • How recent is this video? I'm supposed to be joining the US Army soon and my sister says that she heard it's not as bad as it was when she joined...I must admit that i'm terrified though.

  • @sexiiecaramel09 i heard its like having really really bad allergys and a bad breathing problem

  • @goarmy979 well, that sucks. i was complaining when i went outside and i wasnt able to stop sneezing lol. but i really want to do this. after all its not like i have to keep doing it over and over again
