  • Ug, this is a bad rip of the concert: the audio is all fucked up D=

  • Adrian Utley rules my f'in world, one of the most underrated guitarists ever.

  • I have the CD version of PNYC and that version of Sour Times is different, and better to this one, what concert was that taken from? cos it wasnt PNYC....

  • One of the better versions of this song.

  • loving it!!!!! portishead is so fucking awesome fresh and groovy!

  • It reminds me of a videogame intro called "Silent Hill" check it out

  • so what movie soundtrack is this from? i think its romeo and juliet but im not sure

  • horrible sound, raimondlarios

  • Portishead !what can you say ! one of the very best British bands of the last 20 years and thats up against some stiff competition

  • That's more fucking sexy than a pair of pure silk black Agent Provocateur crotchless knickers....!!!

  • portishead is probably my favorite band to listen to while sippin on some wine and burnin some headies on a late night. now that i think about it, i wonder how many nights i've spent with portishead? God only knows.

  • Anyone who isnt transported to a better place while listening to Portishead is dead inside!! They are f***ing brilliant !!

  • lock the door, close your eyes, play it loud, you could be anywhere you want

  • awesome !!

  • yeeeeeeeeeah

  • Interesting that it's not the same version that ended up on the album. That one has a different backing and the vocals really explode at the end. Has anyone come across the video clip with that version?

  • @redstone272 yeah the one on the album has more emotion, if u find it let me know please

  • ID DRAG MY DICK THROUGH A MILE OF BROKEN GLASS JUST TO HEAR BETH FAR THROUGH A WALKY TALKY

  • shes classy and sexy her voice is beautiful

  • ooooww.. awe!

  • Probably wouldn't have made it through the Hard Time without 'Dummy' back in '96. I'm pretty greatful for that.

  • Oh yeah! Portishead rulz!

  • i have a tendency to forget how good these guys are until I hear them, and then I am hooked again.

    Subtle, insidious, and sensual.

    Love it!

  • true true

  • Any band that utilizes the talent of a symphonic orchestra reflects nothing but class!!!!

  • @primo2316 You should check out the Japanese band MONO if you this this. They also did a concert with an orchestra in the U.S.

  • @primo2316 metallica has not class at all XD

  • It is a credit to the band's quality when they sound better live than in a studio album.

  • Agree- every now and again a band puts together a live performance that becomes legend. This Roseland concert was one of them.

  • Coolest performance ever! It is slightly faster than the original version but i love it all the same.

  • does anyone know if there is a version like this performance on any live cds? the one on the roseland nyc live cd is completely different than this.

  • Get the DVD and export the audio, it's worth the effort trust me ;)

  • good idea, thanks!

  • i LOVE it... tho i cant help but think it would be that lil bit better if it aws a tad slower :-/ but still brill

  • You've got a point. It did feel a tad too fast.

  • <3 -

  • love trip hop

  • what's the tune on this album that ends with the dj doing loads of scratching? I remember hearing years ago...

  • mysterons has alot of sracthing

  • strangers?

  • great song, one of the best of them, like that!

  • de lo mejorr es te concierto!

    trip hop is alive!!!

  • Donde puedo descargar esta version?

  • Portishead: Live at Roseland NYC (USA Release)

  • @MagicFinfersJCC

Sometimes when performers are unhappy with something, especially a perfectionist band like Portishead, they go back to the original recording and patch up any "dodgy" things they weren't happy with.

  • wtf. this isn't the same as the version on the Roseland CD. the CD had a way cooler ending where beth gets really passionate.

  • Roseland CD contains "sour times" performed somewhere else I think.

  • Roseland CD version is from The Warfield in San Francisco 1st April 1998, and Roads from the Roseland CD is from Quart Festival in Norway 3rd July 1998 :) I read it from the booklet just now.

  • southern california with alwayz love you!!!

  • Her other song is good - but right now - Nobody loves her in America either...

  • i love this song...

  • at least on the live cd ;p

  • Beth <333

it's almost an "live orgasm while singing" 8)

  • @david1234512 agreeing with u david!

  • she´s such a queen...

  • @vicprobey

I don't know what's wrong with your ears, because they sound great live to me, and apparently others feel the same as I do.

  • this would've been such a fucking fabulous gig to go to, absolutely stunning.

  • в 100й раз - круто

  • amazing song! but the audio on this video is clipped as shit.

  • how come the cd version is different?

  • because this is a live concert...

  • you need to buy the live in new york cd

  • i am a believer of portis head

  • This is so f***ing beautiful.

  • Oh, she's really attractive! Watch her moves and voice...

  • Oh i am............believe me!!!!!!!!!!

  • uno de los mejores grupos ke hay

  • AMAZING PRODUCTION.....!!!!!!!

  • do you think she's atractive? I know with a voice like her's it doens't matter too much but I can't decide, what Viz call a boderline boiler.

  • i'd spread

  • Comment removed

  • That's disgracefull yakacm, you aught to be ashmed of yourself, (on a side note while I am telling myself of do you ever find you come to write a word and realise that even thought you have thought or siad a word a millions times you have never writen it before and don't have the first idea how to spell it?) objectifying her like that.

  • Oh yakacm that's so 1970's, I am not characterising her as a object of lust just because she is a woman, it could well be a woman saying the same thing about a man

  • i can't believe it was 12 years ago

  • groovy version i love it!

  • La première fois que j'ai vu ce concert à la tv,suis restée scotchée,j'en ai même pleuré.Biz.

  • I think the gum-chewin' guitar guy wants to do her if he hasn't already. He's like Michael Meyers appearing in the background. Creepy. She rules though. I wish she'd call me back.

  • how absolutely beatiful song

  • i have yet to hear a voice that is so effortlessly smooth and haunting (Sade comes close but no balls there). sorry

  • so relaxing

  • trucker bri here anybody got a copy come maw

  • Cool relaxing tune.

  • ... but sad.

  • The record has another version of this song, one namely where at the end the musicians breaks into a loud, furious, guitar/bass/drums riff accompanied by Beth screaming at the top of her voice, in a way that would put many a hard core rocker to shame. Anybody know whether there is footage of that version out there, and better still, be inclined to post it?

  • I know the version, she screams her head off and it almost sounds like punk.

That version was recorded at Warfield, San Fransisco and is on the Roseland CD.

  • Thanks for this; it explains why the video version is different form the one on the CD. I'm enclined to think that version does the song more justice than the subdued roseland/studio tracks, IMHO, anyway.

  • great th i search this information!

  • Beautifull combination of musicalinstruments, and what an amazing voice.

  • thank god for this beth gibbons woman

  • this is so great live

  • This song makes my eyes tear up.

  • amazinf...

  • Yef, truly beautifuff...
