I have the CD version of PNYC and that version of Sour Times is different, and better to this one, what concert was that taken from? cos it wasnt PNYC....
portishead is probably my favorite band to listen to while sippin on some wine and burnin some headies on a late night. now that i think about it, i wonder how many nights i've spent with portishead? God only knows.
Interesting that it's not the same version that ended up on the album. That one has a different backing and the vocals really explode at the end. Has anyone come across the video clip with that version?
Sometimes when performers are unhappy with something, especially a perfectionist band like Portishead, they go back to the original recording and patch up any "dodgy" things they weren't happy with.
Roseland CD version is from The Warfield in San Francisco 1st April 1998, and Roads from the Roseland CD is from Quart Festival in Norway 3rd July 1998 :) I read it from the booklet just now.
That's disgracefull yakacm, you aught to be ashmed of yourself, (on a side note while I am telling myself of do you ever find you come to write a word and realise that even thought you have thought or siad a word a millions times you have never writen it before and don't have the first idea how to spell it?) objectifying her like that.
Oh yakacm that's so 1970's, I am not characterising her as a object of lust just because she is a woman, it could well be a woman saying the same thing about a man
I think the gum-chewin' guitar guy wants to do her if he hasn't already. He's like Michael Meyers appearing in the background. Creepy. She rules though. I wish she'd call me back.
The record has another version of this song, one namely where at the end the musicians breaks into a loud, furious, guitar/bass/drums riff accompanied by Beth screaming at the top of her voice, in a way that would put many a hard core rocker to shame. Anybody know whether there is footage of that version out there, and better still, be inclined to post it?
Thanks for this; it explains why the video version is different form the one on the CD. I'm enclined to think that version does the song more justice than the subdued roseland/studio tracks, IMHO, anyway.
Ug, this is a bad rip of the concert: the audio is all fucked up D=
