I had a waterbirth and they didn't touch me or the bub. They should have a hands off approach. What is it with pulling the baby out. The baby won't drown. The mother will be able to push the body out with the next contraction.

You are such an inspiration! I am planning on a water birth with my third child (I am 15 weeks) and I am having to research about it on my own. I had my first 2 naturally/ no meds, and even that was without the OB educating my on natural births. Now I luckely found out about waterbirths and it's a shame doctors don't introduce it and educate people about it!
yes its normal for the baby, but only for a minute.. the hospital will check for the baby's condition after another 5 mins to see if the baby has adapted to his/her new environment
both... as the baby descends, muscles from the lower back are being stretched as well. the midwife's massage helps minimize the pain and relaxes the patient

The video brought tears to my eyes, as I relived the overwhelming joy of holding each of my newborns. I had homebirths for 2 of my 3 children...kinda wish back then LeBoyer was more common. I might have done it---looking at this baby so calm was so beautiful---what a way to bond!!

Awesome video about waterbirth - I think waterbirth is sure a really great way of giving birth, and woah, that you have some nastiness around you for a while shouldn't be a reason to have not a waterbirth ... I mean, it's still your "own", and in this moment you have a lot more better things to do than thinking about nastiness.

Why did you watch it then fluffieb? You knew what was going to happen. I'm not trying to be rude, but waterbirth was this mother's particular birth plan. Don't be so negative towards women who want to have their babies this way. They don't think it is gross. It oftens relieves more pain being in the warm water and helps them to have birth naturaly without pain meds. How about just congratulating this mom on a successful birth and healthy baby?
