Ein genialer Schachzug der Telekom. Normalerweise zappe ich bei Werbung weg. Zu der Zeit aber lag ich im Krankenhaus. Da habe ich jeden Abend regelrecht auf diese Werbung gewartet. Der Spot hat(te) eine beruhigende und anrührende Wirkung auf mich.

Dieser Werbespot ist ein echter Klassiker. Die Beschreibung "Paul Potts sings for the German Telekom" ist jedoch etwas irreführend. Das video von Pauls Auftritt in der Britischen Talentshow gab es schon eine ganze Weile bevor der T-Kom Werbespot entstand und ich habe das video vielen Freunden als Geheimtipp empfohlen. Dennoch zeigt der Spot sehr schön wie Pauls Auftritt auf viele Zuschauer gewirkt haben mag.

Ich finde es so richtig gut wie er beim höhnischen Publikum und der ziemlich arroganten Jury dafür sorgt das denen der Mund offen stehen bleibt. Wenn Amanda ihn fragt: "What do you have for today, Paul?" dann tut sie das in einer Tonart als hätte sie ein beschränktes Kind vor sich und der arrogante Seitenblick von Pierce als Paul ankündigt er würde "Opera" singen war auch ganz schön voreingenommen.

P.P. ist nachweislich als Sänger unteres Mittelmaß. Der Erfolg kann dank einer sehr gut gemachten Marketing Kampagne zu Stande. Ich kann einfach nicht nachvollziehen, warum so viele Menschen wie die Lemminge zu seine Konzerten rennen und seine weichgespülten Tonträger kaufen. Ich musste ihn leider einmal gezwungenermaßen selbst ertragen. DER KANN NICHTS! Er ist ein Schlag ins Gesicht eines jedem seriösen Tenoristen.

So ein Schmalz!!! Auf Wikipedia ist nachzulesen, dass Potts schon ziemlich lange Sänger war, sogar an hochrangigen Opernsänger-Meisterkursen teilgenommen hat. In der richtigen Opernwelt konnte er sich wegen stimmlicher Defizite jedoch nicht durchsetzten (bis heute). Mit einem mitleiderregenden Auftritt, das Aussehen passte perfekt zur "Komerz Casting Show" inszenierten Story, erreichte Potts ein Millionenpuplikum das bei Klassik bisher immer wegschaltete.
