This is NOT a straight Red Card no referee on the planet will give it. I agree it is a Yellow Card offence but the reason why it isn't a Red Card is because the player had committed himself to the challenge when the player has control of the ball and he gets the card because he showed the studs so basically if you call that a red card you have to make every single misjudged slidetackle a bookable offence for the rest of the game I am a referee myself I know what I'm talking about.

Canada have a very good national team and don't get the recognition they deserve.

There is no hint of him slipping. He charges in their and gets all of the player, none of the ball. I mean the tackle is sooooo late he's already face to face by the time he tackles. If he went for the ball he would've made that tackle much earlier. Nothing about how that tackle looks says hes going for the ball.

Listen, he didn't slip and he didn't try to hurt the kid. He went for the ball and De Guzman pulled a nice piece of skill to move the ball out of Bocanegra's way. However he neglected to get himself out of the way so he got flipped. Carlos wasn't trying to hurt him, and it wasn't really his fault that he moved the ball that quickly out of his way, but you run the risk of a booking with that tackle. However, a red would have been harsh.

No offense to you intended but it was not a late challenge he clearly committed himself to the challenge when De Guzman had the ball. I am Canadian and I was cheering for them but I still felt as though the referee made the right decision a sending off would be harsh the contact was made with leg to leg not boot to leg so it shouldn't be a sending off based on contact alone. Yellow card was the right call it was a clumsy tackle though.

This is NOT a straight Red Card no referee on the planet will give it. I agree it is a Yellow Card offence but the reason why it isn't a Red Card is because the player had committed himself to the challenge when the player has control of the ball and he gets the card because he showed the studs so basically if you call that a red card you have to make every single misjudged slidetackle a bookable offence for the rest of the game I am a referee myself I know what I'm talking about.

it looks worse than it actually is he didn't put the studs up very high and didn't hit De Guzman with the studs they were directed at the ball he was clearly playing the ball he hit him with his leg as you can see he committed himself to the challenge when De Guzman has control of the ball it was an unlucky challenge why are you telling referees how to do their job? Don't tell me what the rules are you obviously are not a referee to be speaking to me in such a rude manner
