Pc user virus free for several years now. Crash free also several years now. Also can game on high resolutions and settings. Have never had a program I wanted to use not work on my pc. Oh any it only cost me 500 a similiar system from mac would have cost me over 1600. My brother tells me how good his iphone is and how great the battery is. But he has to carry 3-4 fully charged batterys with him to make it through the day.
The only reason Mac people comment on how good there computer is because they feel like idiots for buying their Mac thus they need to justify their purchase
Wow that's expensive! I got an Asus 1000HE of Ebay for $215 and it works perfectly fine! Sure it's slower, but it can do double the stuff that a mac can do. I wouldn't pay 7 times the price of that just for more speed!
@steven1lee viruses are only an issue if you go looking for them. I have never had virus issues. Don't download 1k size files from Limewire, don't download junk from warez sites, and don't click random links in emails sent from total strangers. Keeping your computer virus free isn't rocket science, its common sense. Most the people I know who have had virus issue download all those stupid "free" wallpapers and junk online and get filled with malware and spyware, then wonder how it happened.

i dont have a ps3 but if i want to watch a movie thats on my laptop and watch it on my tv all i have to do is press play, close my laptop and the movie plays on my tv wirelessly through airplay. no point in a download

Bottom line is that id pay an extra $700 just for macs OS anyday. Its better, cleaner, and way more user friendly. Plus after getting used to the mac air all other laptops look and feel HUGE.

And multi touch is awesome! too me its a game changer id rather use the track pad with multi touch than use a mouse. Also mission control, the email thing and especially the app store. haven't u noticed more than half the people who hate on macs have never even used one.

@steven1lee I have had Imac, White macbook, macbook pro, and Macbook air. The interface is way behind what i use on my pc, the new linux. I agree, Multi touch is nice, but far from the price worth. Mission Control is just as nice on linux. When i launch programs on the macbook air it takes really alot of time to really be ready.

And what do you mean with the programs? everything i have pops up instantly, i have the 4gb ram one though. before i meant how you can use multi touch to open mission control, i use it like 100 times a day. And being able to swipe through full screen apps and also being able to have multiple desktops is really nice. and the magnetic power cord is just genius, its so simple i don't know why any other laptops dont have it. but this is all personal preference i guess.

@steven1lee The Asus eeepcs have been reviewed in direct comparison on several occasions from several different companies and the Asus has come out on top every time and is less than half the price. I also agree with what Mantua said. I own a Mac, along with 2 other pcs and 2 win laptops (wife owns one of each of those). I'm not a fanboi for apple. I realize the benefits and the drawbacks of each and much prefer PC for customization, upgrading, games, not spending 2x/3x for the same quality etc.
@mammy24 actually there are several antivirus programs now for Mac. Apple is now even offering (and encouraging) Avast antivirus via their Apple.com. They are realizing Macs are not immune anymore, even though their users refuse to admit it. They are all sitting ducks waiting to be infected.
@kevinthegreat001 True upon further research i did find many antivirus programs but they are only designed to target teh mac variants of windows viruses. the virus i recently heard about is Mac Only and doesnt effect windows which makes some of the antivirus programs useless against it.

This is the icon of apple's modern campaign. The idea is "simplicity." Give users something that's exceptionally simple to use. And really, I think they've succeeded here. What's simpler than a screen, keyboard, one USB port, and a power input? Who needs a pesky CD drive, and how likely are you to transfer information from one thumb drive to another without wanting that data on your system? Boy do I get tired every time I plug in an ethernet port into my Windows machine. Woo! Exhausting. x.x
Macs use core2duo processrs and low performence graphics, they are two generations behind new laptops but apple retards will still say it has better graphics etc. I recon the last time u used our pcs was 12 years ago and it sucks now.
@fuzzyipad2lover no macbook air has has a flash storage hdd which costs nearly 4 times as much as a regular hdd. plus macbook air just plainly is overpriced and for 3000 bucks i have nearly all of my custom built gaming rig.

I am going into game and simulation design/programming, and i have a Windows 7 run Laptop. Photoshop, 3DS Max, Zbrush, blender, UDK, music development and music editing software, and many other high quality high demanding software products work great on my Win7 PC. Oh yeah and i can play all the latest and greatest games that are released AND play/burn all formats of DVD.
oh yeah and i make $19.00/hour and im a year or less away from graduating with a bachelors and im 22 y/o

I have both a PC and a Mac. I got the new MacBook Air for school because my old laptop is easily about 10 pounds and the Air is about 2. I agree the old Air is less functional than the new one, since the new one now has 2 USB ports and more memory. However, it isn't meant to be used as a primary laptop and is mainly for students and people who need a small, light laptop that's easy to carry around daily. I disagree that they're stupid, worthless machines, but they are certainly not for everybody

@wiigamer136 The reason they don't have all those games is because companies don't take chances in developing software made specifically for a handful of persons, adding also the fact that macs have more difficulties running vanguard games due to their limited hardware and poor / non-existent upgradable capabilities.

They use the same graphic cards as PC's, however I think you will find apple don't give the option to upgrade beyond medium high performance cards. And if you WANT to get the best card, or run in crossfire or what have you, then you have to install Microsoft because you are in breach of the Apple non approved hardware part of the EULA

Worthless, being incredibly thin is no excuse for having the specs of a machine you could get for a quarter of the price. It's not even practical, it's the horizontal dimensions I'm more concerned about. Sure, it may look good, but does it perform? No. Every Mac user should do themselves a favour and go buy a real laptop, y'know, like Lenovo or Dell, you can't even repair them yourselves, you need to send them away to Mac and have them fix it for you for a ridiculous price.

@kevinthegreat001 I paid $2200 for a 17" i7 pro (new off cl) with warranty and numerous other options that retails for around $3200. Sure, it's still around $400 more than a comparable pc but the build quality more than makes up for it. Drop in a SSD and a 2nd HDD in the optical bay and you're set. The largest hole in your "generic pc's are better" argument is the battery life. I can run almost 6hrs of video on my 13" pro... the only pc's reasonably close are some lenovo's (poor build quality).
@n00g7 $2200 for a 13" laptop is hilarious, considering it is only 3" larger than the largest Netbook screen which can be picked up for less than $300. Spending $2200 for such a small screen is like buying a Lamborghini and putting a V6 in in, it makes no sense. For that price, Apple better include a magnifying glass as well.
Emended that Macs are only made by apple and there are only 6 of them. Pcs are lots of companies that together have hundreds of different computers so I'm ready to bet that a lot of those would have the exact same problems that the MacBook air does

I do a lot of computer work, and I know that computers generate a lot of heat. This has a Core 2 Duo mobile in it, which is designed for the cooling system of a full thickness laptop, and even then they still get pretty hot. This has no room for decent heatsink, so it makes me wonder how hot the CPU gets on this.

The macbook air is thin so you can fit more in a bag it is more portable for you dont need a big carrying case. But i would have a thick Laptop than thin for im a klutz and it looks like it braks varry easily. Imagin if it you droped it how much damige would that do? Also if you drop something on it you might be doomed. My moms broke and she had to spend almost $1,000 just to fix it. We got it at best buy and when she first got it they told her not to get a warity for macs never brake.

My Dell Studio with a 15 inch 720p screen, 500GB HD, 4GB RAM, Intel i7 quad-core processor, and a Blu-Ray/DVD/CD reader&writer cost me about $500 - $600 less than a MacBook Pro (And a shit ton less than an Air). That is enough to buy another PC.

@JRprodz people can do what they want. i never said i want everyone to buy apple. And don't compare things with airdrop if you've never even used it. I can share movies, music, games, files, etc with anybody who has a mac by just dragging it into there computer icon on my screen.
i dont have a ps3 but if i want to watch a movie thats on my laptop and watch it on my tv all i have to do is press play, close my laptop and the movie plays on my tv wirelessly through airplay. no point in a download

Bottom line is that id pay an extra $700 just for macs OS anyday. Its better, cleaner, and way more user friendly. Plus after getting used to the mac air all other laptops look and feel HUGE.

@JRprodz Its not just what it can do, the whole interface is just nicer. Its hard to explain unless you've had it. its like everything is effortlessly organized. And multi touch is awesome! too me its a game changer id rather use the track pad with multi touch than use a mouse. Also mission control, the email thing and especially the app store. haven't u noticed more than half the people who hate on macs have never even used one.
Why do you think its slow? everything is pretty much instant.

@steven1lee I have had Imac, White macbook, macbook pro, and Macbook air. The interface is way behind what i use on my pc, the new linux. I agree, Multi touch is nice, but far from the price worth. Mission Control is just as nice on linux. When i launch programs on the macbook air it takes really alot of time to really be ready.

And what do you mean with the programs? everything i have pops up instantly, i have the 4gb ram one though. before i meant how you can use multi touch to open mission control, i use it like 100 times a day. And being able to swipe through full screen apps and also being able to have multiple desktops is really nice. and the magnetic power cord is just genius, its so simple i don't know why any other laptops dont have it. but this is all personal preference i guess.

Yeah multitouch and mission control is nice, but thats it. I also have multiple desktops. the magnetic powercord is only a magnetic power cord, and thats it. It isnt that nice. Still, mine is a a third of the price, and way faster and doesnt overheat

I don't really care about buying a computer that has a bunch of tiny little things I'm never going to use. When i get my computer its good right out of the box and i can get whatever else i need from the app store. I now I've said it before but everything flows much nicer on Lion than any other OS

@steven1lee The Asus eeepcs have been reviewed in direct comparison on several occasions from several different companies and the Asus has come out on top every time and is less than half the price. I also agree with what Mantua said. I own a Mac, along with 2 other pcs and 2 win laptops (wife owns one of each of those). I'm not a fanboi for apple. I realize the benefits and the drawbacks of each and much prefer PC for customization, upgrading, games, not spending 2x/3x for the same quality etc.

@mammy24 actually there are several antivirus programs now for Mac. Apple is now even offering (and encouraging) Avast antivirus via their Apple.com. They are realizing Macs are not immune anymore, even though their users refuse to admit it. They are all sitting ducks waiting to be infected.

This is the icon of apple's modern campaign. The idea is "simplicity." Give users something that's exceptionally simple to use. And really, I think they've succeeded here. What's simpler than a screen, keyboard, one USB port, and a power input? Who needs a pesky CD drive, and how likely are you to transfer information from one thumb drive to another without wanting that data on your system? Photoshop, 3DS Max, Zbrush, blender, UDK, music development and music editing software, and many other high quality high demanding software products work great on my Win7 PC. I have both a PC and a Mac. I got the new MacBook Air for school because my old laptop is easily about 10 pounds and the Air is about 2. I agree the old Air is less functional than the new one, since the new one now has 2 USB ports and more memory. However, it isn't meant to be used as a primary laptop and is mainly for students and people who need a small, light laptop that's easy to carry around daily. I disagree that they're stupid, worthless machines, but they are certainly not for everybody

@wiigamer136 The reason they don't have all those games is because companies don't take chances in developing software made specifically for a handful of persons, adding also the fact that macs have more difficulties running vanguard games due to their limited hardware and poor / non-existent upgradable capabilities.

They use the same graphic cards as PC's, however I think you will find apple don't give the option to upgrade beyond medium high performance cards. And if you WANT to get the best card, or run in crossfire or what have you, then you have to install Microsoft because you are in breach of the Apple non approved hardware part of the EULA

Worthless, being incredibly thin is no excuse for having the specs of a machine you could get for a quarter of the price. It's not even practical, it's the horizontal dimensions I'm more concerned about. Sure, it may look good, but does it perform? No. Every Mac user should do themselves a favour and go buy a real laptop, y'know, like Lenovo or Dell, you can't even repair them yourselves, you need to send them away to Mac and have them fix it for you for a ridiculous price.

@kevinthegreat001 I paid $2200 for a 17" i7 pro (new off cl) with warranty and numerous other options that retails for around $3200. Sure, it's still around $400 more than a comparable pc but the build quality more than makes up for it. Drop in a SSD and a 2nd HDD in the optical bay and you're set. The largest hole in your "generic pc's are better" argument is the battery life. I can run almost 6hrs of video on my 13" pro... the only pc's reasonably close are some lenovo's (poor build quality).

However, the difference between Apple and PC makers is that PC makers don't charge their clueless sheep an extra $1000 for the priveledge to own a sucky machine.
Also, Apple doesn't "make" anything. They get their cheap parts from China just like everyone else. They just assemble it and slap a premium pricetag on it.

Macs are only 10-12% of the global computer market, the rest are PC's. So it didn't work too well. MacPros are good, too bad they cost as much as a car.

I do a lot of computer work, and I know that computers generate a lot of heat. This has a Core 2 Duo mobile in it, which is designed for the cooling system of a full thickness laptop, and even then they still get pretty hot. This has no room for decent heatsink, so it makes me wonder how hot the CPU gets on this.

the only apple thing i have is a ipod touch. i dont see why people need a mac because of the logo. if you want the apple logo on a pc. take a sticker on. END OF STORY!

The macbook air is thin so you can fit more in a bag it is more portable for you dont need a big carrying case. But i would have a thick Laptop than thin for im a klutz and it looks like it braks varry easily. Imagin if it you droped it how much damige would that do? Also if you drop something on it you might be doomed. My moms broke and she had to spend almost $1,000 just to fix it. We got it at best buy and when she first got it they told her not to get a warity for macs never brake.

Why would anyone spends so much money on such an underpowered computer.
My Dell Studio with a 15 inch 720p screen, 500GB HD, 4GB RAM, Intel i7 quad-core processor, and a Blu-Ray/DVD/CD reader&writer cost me about $500 - $600 less than a MacBook Pro (And a shit ton less than an Air). That is enough to buy another PC.

apple is stupid. thinness doesn't effect portability unless you have a really thin bag to put it in. the macbook air is just as portable as a asus or dell or hp laptop. thinness doesn't matter unless you want to fit it under a door.

@saboobuu Apple is a company, therefore it cannot be "portable" Assuming you are talking about the Air, well it is no more portable than any other laptop, since it is the same size as they are. If you want true portability, get a Netbook, and save $1200 while you're at it.
