  • You Need Chip Foose For This One. Bad.

  • Good Man!

  • wouldent mind at all owning that beaut

  • u just need to shop vac that water and pull at that shit off the roof,

also clean all the jumk out and awesome :D. also chek that motor..

    sounds knocky.

  • @McmullenEJ The floors are actually shot already. I really don't know how they held water in the first place when I finally got around to checking them later. The engine is actually fine, it is an exhaust leak you're hearing in the video. i have since had headers installed and it sounds magnificent.

  • @McmullenEJ Also, I have a 67 Biscaynne out of Texas for a donor parts, including the floor, fenders, and other various spare parts.

  • Its really a special feeling watching an old car getting repaired, congrats man on your work.

sadly,im from Europe,we dont have cars like those, but still,im trying to save as many cars that i can :D

    keep up the good work.

  • @waywardsons67 to me the 2dr is better because it is way more sporty.the 2dr chevelles are the best.

  • Funny, i had a 67 Impala 4dr with that same paint scheme! That blue paint must have been defective. Mine though the paint fade job(rust/primer/blue) was solid all the way around. It was an older ladies car with low milage. The interior was solid black and flawless, but when i started using it regularly, the stiching in everything was rotting and failing. I had to sell it because the ladies son would'nt ever give me the title because he had sent it to the crusher, and was mad that i had it.

  • looks way too much like my Biscayne same color and everything

  • dont waste your time on a 4dr

  • @B0ratt why not? More practical, more open space for air to blow 'round... and no post are ultra cool for cruisin with folks in the back seat..

  • knocks real bad =( beautiful car

  • @cmuscarella Not really, it's an exhaust leak you're hearing on the video. I have since installed headers and it sounds pretty good now as they are open. This engine only has about 1500 miles on it from being rebuilt some 18 years ago. My dad's a doofus for parking it and letting it go for so long.

  • cars from the 40s to the early 70s are so beautiful they lookbas if they were born today. unlike cars thes day they look old and tierd from the day the hit the forcourt I wish a stayd in the u.s just ta buy a great 67 impala

  • 43 years later, it's beauty still shines through, and with rare hideaway headlights too! Thanks for sharing . Caprice

  • The hideaway headlights are very rare

  • Hey you said that you worked on that car as a student in autobody. Was it at a technical highschool in Connecticut?

  • @TransamDude1 No, I was an 18 year old fresh out of high school in 1988 in the auto body program at what was then just the Vocational School. Now it is part of our local two year technical college system affiliated with the University of Kentucky. When I went, only certain programs allowed high school students in and the auto body program wasn't one of them. Now, the technical college doesn't allow any high school kids. They have their own program at another building and auto body isn't offered.

  • those old chevy engines last forever. 350?

  • @wwwMTAYLORca 327, 275 horsepower. The 69 Kingswood that I mentioned has a 350, 300 horsepower engine that I was considering as a donor for my two door Caprice. I've never heard it run so I don't know if it is viable right out of the box like this one was. It has been sitting without starting since 1983 so I have no idea if it is locked up, running or anything.

  • In my opinion I prefer the 4 door's for my bussiness and for my personal use the coupe, but both versions are fun to drive.

  • I have a 69 Caprice I'm repairing and soon plan to have more vids i hope you have more vids soon love that 68

  • lifters tick and exhaust leaks you cant kill a old iron motor !! restore it

  • You own one my friend that's half the battle, 68 Chevy is my favourite..I had 72 Cutlass "s" 69 Pontiac laurentien, 68 Pontiac Strato Chief, 72 Chevy Impala, 65 Strato Chief, but nothing so beautifull as what you have my friend! Best wishes from Ontario Canada on your restoration..Keep us updated please..

  • This looks like a lot of work but will be well worth the effort. I'm still

restoring a 67 Chevelle malibu. Been restoring since 1998. Paint and

interior just about done next the engine and compartment.

Are the engine and transmission all original is this car?

  • no matter how the car looks " what matter is that you have a master peace" trust me....no matter how much money anobody offers u" dont sale it .........richard

  • ahh man i love the caprice. I have an 83..i'd love an old one. In my opinion, the older the car the better...after working on my caprice thats merely 27 years old i finally understood why people say "they dont' make em like they use to!"

  • There's an odd coincidence. GM Holden, the Australian wing of GM, used the name Kingswood as the nameplate for its full sized family sedan and wagon. They have much in common with Chevrolet, but are by no means a clone factory. They built right hand drive Chevys from 1928-1955, but these days they do things like engineering work for the likes of Chevy. The present day Camaro owes much of its chassis and underpinning to the Holden Commodore

  • B"H

The Caprices may end up more valuable than Impalas because less of them were saved. They have high style, creature comforts, and plenty of V8 power. My favorite full size Chevy is the 68. I hope you restore it to showroom condition, not with dub wheels and hydraulics, etc.

This was gorgeous when new, enjoy it. OLD CHEVYS RULE. I have an original 69 Corvair Monza, 59K miles, no rust, all original, blast to drive...Bill H.

  • I have no intentions on "donking" this car or my other. The two door I have, which I hope to put the video of on soon, will be mostly stock with the exception of the engine if I can afford to. The four door in this video I am thinking of changing the back doors to suicide doors (mainly for ease of getting my wheelchair in and out), painting it gloss black, shaving the door handles, lowering it a bit, and maybe putting 17's with lower profile tires. Don't know about the interior yet.

  • And BTW, my favorite Impalas are the 1968 too. I had a chance to buy a Corvair in college for $530. but didn't bite on it. It had a bad tranny so it kinda scared me, but I regret it now. It wouldn't have made a difference, my ex would have made me get rid of it just like my 73 Charger SE I sold when we married and the 65 Galaxie we had and sold. She got afraid of the brakes as the shoes were bad and wouldn't drive it. I couldn't fix it at the time and she's a woss. I miss the cars more than her.

  • Great project! I think it's great that you have decided to restore it, as I am very passionate about the 68 big cars. The reason your headlight doors aren't working is likely that the vacuum actuators are frozen from rust. This is very common when they have been sitting for a long time. Reproductions are available, and can be found in Camaro cataloges under 68-69 RS.

  • thats a definate 68 caprice the hidden headlights give it away its a beuat even in its condition keep up on repairing her i wanna see the vids these are rare i dont care what peeps say they are diamonds in the ruffdont let this peice of american history die

  • Thanks for your comment. I don't plan on letting her go any time soon. I have it in the works to get the brakes and tranny fixed soon. I have all the tires and wheels now, the brake parts and the exhaust parts to get her road worthy. I bought a 67 Impala to cannibalize for body and interior parts, so I am getting close.

  • just keep her going and keep uploading vids, any progress I make on my 69 Caprice i'll be sure to upload and share with you gotta keep these beauts running not many of them around anymore

  • Hello = I have heard of a Chevy Caprice 68 but I want to restore it here where I live there's Caprice chrome feet or I'm from chile digo q te only good if you can help me. to find the Caprice as the chrome is almost here inpicible.

    1968 Chevy Caprice V8 3000cc =)

  • I love the model/lines of the car.Too bad it's a 4 door,though,to me,they"re not quite a sporty looking as a 2 door...

  • i persoanlly love the four doors to the two doors this is a fanatastic car reminds me of my Carice I'm fixing up inot a SS clone

  • Good News! I bought a two door coupe on e-Bay last week. Bad news is that the top is rotted pretty bad. The floorboards are almost completely rust free and the rest is in fairly good shape, with the exception of the trunk pan being shot. I am going to try and shoot some pictures of it to post as a video soon. I might have to make it a convertible if possible. it too is not as sporty as the fastback but as a convertible, it would be too sweet!

  • The two door has no engine or tranny either but pop's got a 69 Kingswood (Impala wagon) that has the 350, 300 horsepower engine that he offered up as a donor. This should be a fun project.
