  • my favorite song in the whole wide world since i was 12 and i'm 52 now...

  • wow

  • Timeless...

  • i think he wrote this song when he was a virgin

  • .....Universal .......A song For All Hearts.....

  • great song...!

  • should listen to J.H with Mike Batt they've done good music as a pair both instrumental and vocal

  • The ledgen continues!!! GO JUSTIN , JOHN, GRAEM!!!

  • The ledgen continues!!! GO JUSTIN , JOHN, GRAEM!!!

  • Justin Hayward write this one and recorded it in 1967.

    Thomas W. Oslo, Norway

  • @berrygirl1964 if they didnt write the songs or sing them...it doesnt matter who they are...bass players drummers keyboard players blah blah blah...can all be replaced on records....with your eyes shut its the same music...only the songwriters and lead singers cannot be replaced....i think that is a bold statement that could apply to any big band. only addicts of a group think different...the music is all that counts...because thats why u started listening in the first place.

  • Is this the most recent performance? Anybody got the energy to make a videomedley of year by year performances? I dont but love to have it :)

  • ........Legends Having Fun.......

  • Silly Earthlings.......the best of Heaven is in front of you as always

  • True, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy what is here now in this lifetime. Music is Universal.

  • Beautiful song and I agree with you....enjoy! (I was only joking anyway..LOL)

  • Have a wonderful and peaceful New Year.

  • Just love this song and Justin & John - beautful!

  • I always thought the backing vocal, the part Lodge is singing, was done by a synthesizer. I wonder which one is on the original recording?

  • i made me the same thing...what a backing vocal!!!without effect!

  • I may be wrong about this, but I believe Lodge was backed by a small symphony on the original recording.

  • @meetmeatthe1: You could be right. Whatever it was, it was electronically enhanced (expanded). It sounded more "full".

  • idk about a symphony (I'm sure they used accompaniment) but I know if you watch the original vid Lodge is backed by the rest of the band as well singing those high backing vocals

  • immortal song...

  • So handsome still-and that voice. Great pairing-classic

  • Beautiful song and it's nice seeing them at this age perform it together.

  • danrcurtis forgot:

Pinprick holes in a colorless sky let insipid figures of light pass by.The mighty light of ten thousand suns challenges infinity and is soon gone. Nighttime to some, a brief interlude, to others the fear of solitude. Brave Helios wake up your steeds. Bring the warmth the countryside needs.

  • I love you, Justin.

  • .....Justin and John...More Fabulous Every Performance.....The Truth Is..... Beautiful....Blue Jays Stay Forever....

  • breathe deep the gathering gloom watch lights fade from every room bedsitter people look back in lament another day's usless energy is spent Impassioned lovers wrestle as one lonely man crys for love and has none a new mother picks up and suckles her son senior citizens wish they were young cold hearted orb that rules the night remove the colours from our sight red is grey and yellow white but we decide which is right and which is an illusion.
  • I agree. the Italian version is a very new cover of a very English song written by Justin Hayward about the end of one love affair and the beginning of another--who turned out to be his future wife Marie. The satin sheets had been a gift from a former girlfriend.

  • Great song! Wspaniała piosenka!

  • what was the meaning behind the title of the song? Was it about a "night" of love, sex, and satin sheets, or was it a song about "knights" (astronauts) in white (satin) space suits going into space? I would love for someone to get the argument out of my head since the '70's! :P

  • I think you're overthinking it a bit songbird. "Nights in white satin, never reaching the end... Letters I've written, never meaning to send." It's about spending long sleepless nights in bed, alone, not being able to sleep because she's always on his mind. He's either lost the girl or never had her to begin with... and he agonizes so much that he can't tell what's true and what isn't anymore... and nobody else can understand what he's going through.

  • i agree with you 100 percent

  • I think, you are all over thinking it. Just listen to the song and shut up already. LMAO

    I think! Therefore I am! I think!

    There you go man!

Keep as cool as you can

Face miles of trials with smiles

    It wryles them to believe

you preceive the web they weave

    Keep on thinking freely!

  • YES, What You said. Story of my life. ;-)

  • Justin himself has said in an interview that it was about a wonderful concert - the night and the audience were perfect.

  • @songbirdsearching i dunno where u been since the seventies...but it is spelt nights...not knights...just simply reading the title on the record cover would have told you not to be such a numpty...

  • Love this song, impressed that they can still hit the high notes!

  • this is weird as they dont have ray thomas or graeme edge from the band.. no flute solo :(

  • Italian? These guys are British! And I must say, this is a fine rendition.

  • Justin And John...Does It Get Any Better....Always From The Heart....

  • erm the italian version is a cover of this. and obviously youve never heard country music because it sounds nothing like country. that is all

  • Common, honey, not everything in the world is an american. this song is italian, but the american version is so popular that the people believe it's an american.check out the other video on this site "Nights in White Satin" from suekennedynz(views:89738)Greetings.

  • haha that was a cover the moody blues recorded the song back in 67

  • You are, ore most be a genius. Did you like this version or not?

  • @sagittariusBG lol..it aint italian or american...god i woulda removed that as soon as i wrote it if i was you...

  • also: IL DIVO Notte di lucce...

  • i never said this song was american? this is an english band and justin hawyard (the man singing) wrote this song back in 1966 or 1967. mario frangoulis recorded an italian COVER version of nights in white satin with justin hayward in 2002. then il divo proceeded to record a cover of mario frangoulis' version

  • @yonderboy1206 in Italy the most known version of this song is "Ho difeso il mio amore" adapted by "I profeti" in 1968 and sung by "I Nomadi" ...

  • @sagittariusBG 1967

  • aye that's right guys.

  • Wow, wow, wow...hold on there:)

The original song IS Moody Blues - Nights in white satin, recorded in 1967...

Two Moody Blues members are in this video!

Notte di lucce is very recent cover...there's no way in Hell that Notte di lucce is an original...

  • I saw the Moody Blues in Philly in 03, (?) Whether live or recorded, Nights is possibly the #1 love, romance and love making song of all time, Justin is still the sexiest man in Rock and Roll!!!!!!!!

  • yonderboy ....I Think This Is one of the best on You Tube...WOW....Beautiful ....Sharing Is Beautiful....Thank You Indeed.....

  • Blue Jays My Dream....Blue Jays Stay Forever....Legendary Men....Timeless Musicians....The....Truth.....Is... English....As....Cornwall....Beautiful....As The....Aurora Borealis....I Am Beguiled....Your....Legend..... Is....Beautiful....Blue Jays My Dream....Blue Jays Stay Forever......

  • Brilliant; this has been my favourite song since I first heard it back in the sixries!

  • Beautiful song and singing.Justin sings with so much feeling. Is it his composition? THank you for sharing this clip.

  • yeh. he wrote the song when he was 19 years old. way back when lol

  • Thank you so much 'Yonderboy' for your response.Just love the way Justin ends each line with so much feeling!!You can enjoy his duet with Mario Frangoulis, performing LIVE in Greece...Awesome!!

  • Another example of British talent these boys emerged from Birmingham,UK back in 67, the song is so touching the words and melody both, modern British rock is no where near to this. All sucks these days.

  • Ever notice, the ones that don't use explosives on stage usually hve talent. The others, (KISS) for example, usually do. Hmmm.

  • As a KISS fan, I find that insulting...

  • Nuts, assclown. Suck mine!! Kiss couldn't even beat Mili Vanilli you MOMO!!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing. Bloody awesome!

  • What a lovely song, I love this every time I hear it, what a voice Justin has, rearly beautiful. jet1939. john e caley, Hadleigh Ipswich Suffolk uk. 28th Nov 2007.

  • Well the assumption was made based on you saying that those two were essentially the Moody Blues.

  • erm... no. Ray Thomas's Legend of a mind itself makes him an essential Moody. Pinder was important too. I'll have to check out Graeme's song writing credit again. There's no need to get all fanatical about the members that way.

  • These 2 guys are awesome and they sound wonderful. As for John's falsetto, this song would not have it's mysterious quality without it. It gives the song depth...I really like how he does that. Wonderful video.

  • I completely agree with you. John's falsetto is amazing.

  • that was fucking excellent

  • What is this, the cut-rate, stripped-down version? Yeah, who needs flutes, drums and

keyboards? Actually they did a great job with

the song with just their two voices and their two guitars.

  • I have been hiding since that ridiculous debacle of a theologigal 'debate' the whole thing was embarasing. I'm glad you're still talking to me.

  • Indeed, less is more. This minimalist performance showcases their great talent.

  • This is the best song ever!!

  • The first time I heard this song, I just could not beleive it. It related so much to me. It was 1972 and I had moved to a new city, living alone in a two room flat. I sat in my car in the drive and listened in the dark. The anthem of the lonely boy. I love it still today.

  • Thanks. Never ever get tired of these guys or this song.

  • Now THIS is the real thing! Not that Declan guy who is approaching puberty!

  • Most excellent, kind of "BlueJays" like. Justin and John ARE the Moody Blues, still rockin' after all these years!

    Peace,

    Jim

  • the high shit.... is weird haha

  • Haha. You just wish you can sing falsetto like he can

  • WOW! Fantastic! Never thought just 2 of the Moodies could pull that song off! Thanks

  • Nice to hear all the details of Justin's guitar playing on this version!

  • thank you

  • Nice version of one of my all time favorites

  • they are great...thanks for sharing this with us

  • when and where was this?
