It would be helpful to state calendar dates rather than e.g. 'next Tuesday' in these very useful webcasts. I would like webcasts of Parliamentary proceedings to be archived permanently. Surely there's enough space in Cyberspace?
It's amazing they've allowed comments... at least they're trying to use Youtube for all the right reasons. I'm afraid the idea of Lords, Ladies and Baronesses are redundant nowadays.
You'd get younger people more involved by not using Ian Duncan Smith and Cherie Blair to comment on knife crime, and instead, use REAL people on the ground who actively work amongst young people who carry knives.
Look to the current whitehouse administration's use of the internet, and this site in particular, to bring in more people, more comment and allow more access to the workings and thoughts of government.
The 10 Downing Street Channel is a joke, occasional 1:30 clips of the PM giving sound bytes - not discussion worthy, and worse, they don't allow comments, so there can be no discussion on the videos.
I would like to see more filmed by the houses themselves, and posted to sites like this.
We nd 2 integrte pride & knowldge abt ur constitution & how it's run in2 evry U.K citizen. If we look at the Americn Pledge of Allegiance, we 2 cld certainly install a bttr understding & loylty 2 ur Britsh constitution. Make it mandatory 4 all pupils of schl age to learn abt the constitution & how we live in a democratic society. Follwd by a visit 2 bth the Hse of Commons & Hse Lrds. If we installed ths info in2 evry child, they will hve a bttr understandng & rspct & pride 4 thir own cntry.
I wonder how many people have actually considered the advantages of an appointed upper house with no government majority & a significant amount of independent experts which can be overruled by the elected but nevertheless can force the government to capitulate on particularly bad bills by convincing the Commons or the public; which contributes more (and in my opinion better) amendments, sits more days and is more capable of calm, measured, intelligent debate than some Houses we could mention?
I think if you want to improve voting turn outs you need to include my generation. Students make up a substantial proportion of the electorate and yet many do not vote as they feel unqualified to do so. Politics needs to be introduced into secondary school education, we spent plenty of time learning about the second world war and yet learnt nothing on the current political affairs - only educated people can make educated choices.....
If you want people to be more involved in what happens in politics maybe you need to look at the start. The percentage of young voters that turned out was very low, students make up 15% of the electorate but are not being encouraged to use their vote. Politics needs to be introduced into education at a secondary school level, many young people do not vote simply because they feel unqualified to do so.

I wonder how many members the Lords think it is time for a democratically elected upper house?
