  • why are u doing this to us...... because you were home

  • So , I didn't even realize this song was on The Strangers til I read the comments , and I've seen that movie . Great song regardless <3

  • "The Strangers" was a horrible movie.

  • Sad that the top comments arnt really on the song but on a horror movie... actually its kinda ironic, it symbolizes the state of society nowadays

  • today is my cousin and best friends birthday, and he and I saw merle close to 20 times in concert. he died last year a week after his birthday at the age of 28 from a freak heart attack. this was our favorite song and whenever i hear it i think of him. RIP John "JP" Fruguglietti

  • I hate that they put this in "The Strangers" no one before then knew it and now they're all just band wagon hoppers. Geeze people thats not the only reason the song is awsome.

  • I was looking for this song because I thought it was Roy Orbison

  • guys, I think lzKewl's "1" button is broken....

  • Love this song. I'm a big fan of classic stuff, like cars and classic country of course! I can't stand Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. I appechiate the people who put up songs like this up. Let's help the classics live! :)

  • I remember this song in The Strangers

  • Who needs any of Merle's songs with lyrics? It's not like that jumpity jive crap they play now you can't understand half of it. Word for word memory from the song it's self.... the way real music should be.

  • @vasmokeyii I know for myself that I like to see it laid out like the poetry that it is. I don't need it, but the simple beauty of the lyrics are enjoyable to see. :-)

  • 2 things, i only know this song because of the film strangers and the intro is exactly the same as you had me at hello, by a day to remember

  • omg im 12 and i love it soo much!!

  • Favorite song by Merle :)

  • And I turned 21 in prison, doin' life without parol,

No one could steer me right, but mama tried, mama tried. ;)

  • yep mama tried to raise me better but i refused. And i'm the only one to blame

  • Now this is a country song!

  • new country sucks

  • I'm a sperm that hasn't been born yet and I love this song.

  • is it me or does with give the feeling ur about to killed?

  • who actually gives a fuck how old you are??

  • im sure ur not four either

  • I'm 4 years old and I can't get enough of this kind of music. This music has pages and pages of down to earth values that can't be torn out of the history book that music has written for all of us. I feel so terrible for other 4 year old's that listen and sing "the itsy bitsy spidert" and various kid's bop classics. With the current rate that technology is advancing and the lack of message our disguising taste in music , I suspect our generation is headed for destruction.

  • @IzKewl don't mind me asking but how can you type such a paragraph especially with perfect grammar at 4 years old? I agree with your comment though.

  • @IzKewl hey if your for how do you know about values and how can you even reach the computer or spell like that shouldn't you be watching winni the pooh i mean i don't dis-agree but im just surprised

  • @IzKewl there is no way you are four years old.

  • @IzKewl I'm sorry, but how are you only 4?

  • @IzKewl you do not sound like your only 4.

  • @IzKewl Are you really four?!

  • @IzKewl You joined youtube four years ago, thats more remarkable than listening to Haggard. Go away and stop looking for attention, Troll.

  • @IzKewl I very much doubt your four.. so gtfo pedo

  • @IzKewl R u seriously 4 years old?

  • Comment removed

  • @IzKewl u aint 4 or u couldnt spell tht u wrote

  • @IzKewl if ur 4 im jesus

  • @IzKewl you aint no four year old

  • I agree with You RobinHoodV1. Whoever wrote that message is a Hell of a lot older than 7.

  • I'm 7 years old and I can't get enough of this kind of music. This music has pages and pages of down to earth values that can't be torn out of the history book that music has written for all of us. I feel so terrible for other 7 year old's that listen and sing "row row your boat" and various kid's bop classics. With the current rate that technology is advancing and the lack of message our disguising taste in music , I suspect our generation is headed for destruction.

  • @swervmerv1 Yeah, you're not 7. I don't know if you've ever heard a 7 year old talk, or type but there's no way a 7 year old would use that vocabulary, let alone spell it all right with the sentence format completely correct,..

  • @swervmerv1 Bullshit. :D You ain't 7. If you are, your mommy needs to pull that stick out her ass and cut ya some slack.

  • This song pretty much scares me now...just because of the strangers too.. :\

  • best song ever

  • sounds like "You Had Me At Hello," by A Day To Remember.

  • @ltothefbomb exactly what i thought

  • I new of this sng before the stangers and this song is like the song " only hell my mom ever raised" Buy Jonny Paycheck , Still a damn good song

  • man there is real music in every type of music but if ur a real fuckin man u have mama tried tatto pn ur fuckin chest

  • when i was on vacation in one of those cabin resorts you know the kind you check in and then drive out to your cabin well this song kept me from wondering into the woods and getting lost on purpose. god bless ipod

  • I recently found this song, but in no way was it related to me watching the Strangers. I love country music and this is pure.

  • I rooted for the Strangers. The whole time, I was like; "kill those idiots!"

  • Thumbs up if you knew this BEFORE the Strangers.

  • he is my only country music cousin

  • he is my cousin

  • in memory of miss bonnie......

  • watch?v=-1eOO3vlrYM

    Sound familiar? Not cool, ADTR.

  • @GeminiRift this song was made hella before A day to remember made you had me @ hello.

  • @jakesxe12 Yeah, man. It's pretty crappy of ADTR to steal it from this band.

  • i watch the strangers, hear the song and love it at that time cuz i love country music. then i look up on IMDb and found it! yay

  • life is a one way trip boys, aint no such thing as time travellin'

  • best. song. ever. and im into thrash/hardcore

  • The Strangers FTW

  • I can't listen to this without getting a creepy vibe from it.

  • I'm 14 but this kinda music makes me happy and teaches good lessons.Classic Country is awesome , and I feel bad for the other kids that get raised with rap and hip hop not knowing what real music is. Though my dad is the one that taught me to appreciate this music not my mom. She tried to get me into 90's pop and techno. At least that is still better than most of today's music.

  • @Ultimator500 I know exactly what you mean, im 15 and I wish i could have lived in the days when all kids listened to good music like this, music has a huge impact on everyone especially our age group, our generation is out of control and it really is kind of depressing but I'm glad you feel the same way because any other kid would not understand...

  • @Sharp763 Yeah that is exactly right , I think that if we had different music , then maybe it wouldn't be as crazy.

You sound very intelligent :) I think it is hard for other kids because they are more vulnerable when being picked

on when they don't act the same or listen to the same music or do the same things . But its not right for kids to feel like they are forced to be one way or listen to one music and have to like it because music is about enjoying yourself and listening to ur fav tunes

  • @Ultimator500 You're absolutely correct. Except for one thing, some rap is good. Just not that mainstream Lil Wayne crap, there's rap like that, and then there's rap that's poetic, and wonderful. Like go listen to a song called "Be Intro by Common" you'll like it.

  • @Uqload Yeah your right some rap is good , and yeah thats a great song. I kinda like airplanes too.

  • @Ultimator500 There is a LOT of real hip hop/rap just dont expect the radio to play it so please dont slander another genre of music because you do not enjoy it. theres plenty of hip hop songs that express a very similar message as this look at Z-Ro & Trae- My Momma... it drives me crazy when just because someone doesnt like a certain genre they think its a dumb pointless type of music...

  • @TxInMyBlood Yeah, like all those hip hop goons listen to classic country. On top of that all they do is glorify urban crime. Ultimator500 is right.

  • @Ultimator500 yeah them damn niggers is wats wrong with this world today

  • @MrDodoboy Hey lets not be racist, there are really good black people, and really bad whites too. Really we are all people and judging by color is stupid, and antagonizing groups of people instead of people individually based on actions is not fair. Some of the best people i know are blacks, and whites too.Though i do agree that they cause most the crime, but think how hard it is to grow up righteous when everybody already expects the worst of you and doesn't give you a chance.

  • @Ultimator500 yeah well where i live there aint no blacks except 1 0r 2 the rest or niggers and i am friends with the blacks

  • @Ultimator500 Same for me dude im 14 also

  • @Ultimator500

Okay, I love Classic Country and Today's Country very much, it's my favorite kind of music.

but ALSO Rap is real music. Im not talkin about that stupid shit, Im talkin Eminem, Tupac, Snoop Dog.. they're real rappers. with REAL MUSIC. So dont you dare say that Rap isnt real music. cause it is!

  • @theamazincountrygirl the only credit i can give those artists is that they can talk to a beat lol

  • @Ultimator500 same here. i love country music. long live classic country

  • @17redneckcountryboy Heck Yes!! :P

  • @Ultimator500 I agree! Long live country music!!!!

  • @Ultimator500 to me most country songs are real what happen is there life and they sing about it idk if them all are like this but most are

  • @Ultimator500 Good job, man!

  • @Ultimator500 i was born in the 1990s and yes i grew up with rap and hip-hop and rock but i still appreciate classics like this i love country music i was raised with it before i heard of rap and hip-hop but i agree with you im not complaining

  • @Ultimator500 yeah same here.. i grew up to country, from my dad:) i love charlie pride's music also..

  • @celiamae16 rock on!

  • @Ultimator500 well...your 14 and like this..i was once the same way....but i was raised on 90's this and rap and techno..there is nothing wrong with it...and ftr im 6 years older then you lol

  • @morbidsweetheart lol thats awesome! and im actually 15 now lol

  • This was hella creepy in The Strangers.

  • is that a steel guitar in the beginning?

  • I turn 28 today and i turn 21 in prison too , so i love this song, at all my birthday I sing this song in my car. Today i got a family and i hope my son dont make the same thing i did.

  • Im 15 and i love all the old country songs, along with some of the newer ones. Great song :)

  • I belong to a fairly young generation (I'm in my late teens) and I grew up with this. Merle haggard, Johnny Horton, Gordon Lightfoot, Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash. I always get ridiculed for singing their songs, and my class mates think i'm strange, but hey if that's so then i'm strange and proud. This is real music ^.^ <3

  • @TandokuNoHana You should feel sorry for those that can't get past listening to the pitiful music being played on country radio, not to mention the junk that is played in other genres.I listened to alot of the artists you mentioned when I was a kid , now i'm 39 and after listening to a variety of music, I still love and am very much rooted in classic country Music! I'm also greatful for places like youtube for providing a place for old stuff to be shared....

  • my sister just turned twenty-one and every time she walks by my momma will start singing the part "i turned twenty-one in prison doing life without parol" i wanted to know why and i found this song and oh my god it fits with my sister now i know why momma does it two thumbs up great song

  • true

  • @ItalianPride1597 i heard it before

  • @ItalianPride1597 that's the only reason why i started listenin to this song

  • @ItalianPride1597 Thumbs up if you DIDN'T head this on "The Strangers".

  • 2 dislikes might be Kristen and James : (

  • @Wheeloffate ROFL

  • i always thought grateful dead wrote this song this versions pretty good 2

  • Merle was a great musician no doubt, but I also think that he was a really handsome man when he was young too. Anyone else agree?

  • @WavyGravy22 Whoops, meant to say is instead of was. The guy's still very much alive and making just as good a music as he ever did years ago as far as I know : )

  • If not for the movie, "The Strangers" I'd of never heard of this classic, thanx.

  • I remember my dad playing this!!

    mama tried

  • My life story so far and future in a song <3

I've never liked country music, but this song is amazing.

  • Hate country, ADORE this song. Reminds me of my best friend that went to prison...

  • TRUE CLASSIC
