How about timing have you program you're timing with different timing to you're esc? I bet that's the problem.

@jcer93705 Hi thanks for the comment, I tried every setting on the esc but it just wouldn't work on that ESC.. got a turnigy one and the motor worked fine so unsure what the issue was really.. The ESC worked fine with a thunder tiger motor so who knows...
