Get some proper instruction if you really want to improve...props for the self taught and playing by ear, but you should really learn to read music and join a pipe band if your serious.

It's fine for folk music, not good enough yet for Scots piping. Yes I can, I've taught it too, and my students have gone to the highest amateur and professional levels by the judgment of the experts.

Staying positive, a self-teacher who can get this far can get a lot farther.

It's all about completion. The tuning is close; listen for the wa-wa's and get it so close that everything goes perfectly still.

Hands: VERY easy. Use skill not muscle.

Execution: make it perfect. You can, start simple

Okay mate, I'm gonna be honest, that sounded like trash, but if you've got a practice chanter I reccommend you find a tutor book or somethin like that and just practice! And you don't have to lift your fingers a hundred miles off the chanter. Make sure that there are no unclean crossing noises when you change notes. I could go on forever pal

I might not be the best when it comes to bagpipes.. but i have been playing since 9. I am 12 now. I still practice ALL of my songs on my practice chanter, even sometimes weeks before i play the songs on the pipes, making sure i have all of the grace notes down and everything. Then moving on to playing parts of the songs on bagpipes. And, getting a teacher is the best way to go. this is mine:

dude, PRACTICE CHANTER. you need to learn the grace notes and doublings first (on the chanter)! im about your age, and ive been playing for a couple years. it sucks to learn on the chanter, cause you really want to be on the pipes for real. but be patient, learn slowly, do it correctly. i did the chanter for about 6 months, and now i can basically learn a song off sheet musi or by ear in 5 minutes. but if youre doing it by ear, dont skip grace notes and doublings.

Hey I think that was excellent! I've heard bagpipes are really hard to play. I play instruments by ear too I actually find it much easier but I can still read music though lol.

I've never played bagpipes so my opinion might not mean a lot to you but you're better than most of the arseholes commenting saying you suck...maybe you should let them borrow your bapipes, see how well they do :]

I'll be honest. As stated a couple of times before it's a start to try and learn to read the music because you were a little fast in parts. The tune itself is relatively simple to play, but to master it requires technique which you don't have right now.

If you are willing then message me with your e-mail address and even from distance I will attempt to help develop your playing - the first step though is the practice chanter (but then again it should ALWAYS be)

fourth no squawks

fifth no crossing noises

sixth crisp sounding grace notes,doublings,grips,and torloughs.

seventh don't learn the songs until you know the basics.

i would highly suggest finding a teacher/getting a teaching book to further the playing. Youre dropping embelishments- they are what make bagpipes bagpipes. If you dont have those in there, you wont get near the sound you'll want from the tunes
