Nice video. XD That Kanji can also mean painful or difficult to do something. It just depends on the context of the sentence. I don't know why there isn't a separate kanji for that word.

Itadakimasu is just generally said whenever someone has made food for you.

It generally expresses your appreciation for it.

The only Japanese food I can remember eating was some sushi about 4 years ago, when I discovered that the nice pink stuff wasn't raw salmon but a chunk of ginger. OH GOD

I think its the same as chocolate. Its only because there stomach can't handle it because there not use to it. If you feed small bits of chocolate to a dog as a puppy they get use to it and its not dangerous.
