@Cognetto I have to say that this is the first movie about the Wizard of Oz I've ever watched. I saw it back in 2005 with my dad, when I was 10-11. This movie really gets me, but also really scares me (for that subway station scene). After watching it, I readed the original book over and over. The book is really dark and scary sometimes, like The Wiz. When I finally watch the original 1939, I was a bit disappointed.The old one is too kid-friendly for me, BUT is classic! Return to Oz KICKS ASS!

nothing happened to it. it's just stylized. all of the cabs in the movie look like that. there's an inside joke in the movie, because every time they try to catch a cab so they can get to the wiz faster, instead of following the road, the cab drives off. because cabs supposedly don't like to pick up blacks in the city because they think they might get robbed. there's other stuff in the movie that is stylized like the cabs, funky looking. you should just see the movie.

Its called "End of the Yellow Brick Road" its also used as the theme of the entire film ("Dorothy's Theme, Is This What Feeling Gets"?) It is used when Dororthy and her friends first discover Emerald city and also at the beggining of the films opening credits right before Director Sidney Lumets name is shown.

It's crazy....I own almost ALL of Michael Jackson's music, and one day I was really sad, and I was trying to find a song to make me happy, and of ALL his music, ALL HIS MUSIC, only the songs from The Wiz made me smile. Simply amazing, esp. 'cause I adore ALL his music! It's probably 'cause I love this movie so much : )

I agree. This movie is much more entertaining. The Wizard of Oz was more of a plotical message about the Industrial Era (with creative input, of course), but this was more for entertaining. It's perplexing how someone can say this movie is boring compared to The Wizard of Oz.
