@Elgaladwen Oh hell yeah, this game was awesome! Marc Seibert's music was the bomb--especially in other games like Hero's Quest (ok, "Quest For Glory" later on).
I was inspired by this game so much, I wrote a damn theatrical play based on the thing, too...
@saireayn Me too, no kidding... I mean really, I've been trying to get it to happen as a great "middle school kids" play, but... hmmm...doubtful I'd ever have the time & bankroll to do it without some major help these days!!
All my money went into the "Balance of Power" projects...
damnnn LOL,,, i won all the 6 KQ games without any helpp!!!! but here i missed to take the Key and i cant won the Kq6 cause of that.... that was the onli clue that i missed in the 6 games...... LOL... i hate it because you cant get back to take it... and if youd ont take it you cant win the game.. i havce to buy the hint book,, to see it and my ego go down... LOL
Yeah! When I first played this game and came to this point (after a lot of dying) - I nearly died from laughing my hair off... funniest scene ever on any adventure. Thanks for posting.
Serious memories. Oh man.. this game made you laugh and it made you cry. The chorus line of skeletons makes me laugh to this very day. Its just so damn goofy.
Fabulous. I used to watch this sequence when I played it back in the early days. I kept playing the bones over hundred times. I even sometimes hit print screen when all them were dancing just to make wallpaper. Same with space quest games too. Thanks for posting. I am laughing with joy.
If you like the later point and click VGA KQ games, you should check out the VGA remakes of KQ I, II, and III. There's also a remake of KQ IV in the works but it hasn't been released yet. Do a google search and you should find them no problem.
The version with voices (Windows CD version), works great on Windows XP or Windows Vista with a little tweaking and know-how. Google the phrase "how to run king's quest vi on windows xp" and click on the first link in the search results for an excellent guide on how to get the CD version to run on modern computers. I used that guide and I can run KQ6 on my Vista Home Premium just fine. I've in fact gotten all KQ games to run on my laptop without hardly any problems. Hope that info. helps! :)
except for making them easier to run on modern computers with need for patches and stuff, I don't see why they would need remakes (there's already been remakes of the very old games and although it's not finished yet somebody's working on a remake of the older game starring rosella...just rosella as the main player character)
ahh the memories, the first time I played through this game I missed this and didnt get the key, I was soooo PISSED when I got to the end and couldnt get into the trunk :(
I remember forgetting the two coins from the Catacomb once. When I got here and made it to The River Styx, I was wondering, "How do I get past here?" Then I remembered that I had to pay the toll for the boat...I ended up banging my head against the desk several times. Don't you hate it when you get screwed over like that?
@KeepItRealMon My worst stuck point was in the Catacombs. I forgot to pick up the Brick, and kept getting squished. Actually had to call the Sierra help line, cuz there were no help sites at that point... I miss this game...
I actually usually played the diskette version of KQ6, not the CD version, so that's the version I recorded for this one. :O I should go see if I can snag the CD version...
I picked it up a while ago (I lost my original disks for it a long time ago) but you can check around Abandonia.com for it, or see if there are torrents that offer it.

Nope. You can't die on the death screen. On the one hand it's ironic, but on the other hand it makes sense.

KQ5 shouldn't be too hard...try searching Abandonia.com or bittorrent sites to see if it's there, or included in any large game torrents.
