Don't fall for this crap Guys this is an "Air Propelled" device that still Uses Coventional flight Methods, the airflow comes from around the ridges, this Contraption was send to the scrap yard back in the 90's due to it's unstability during test Flights and Ineffective Fuel Consumption, these engineers should rather invest their resources into researching a different propulsion methods instead.

The Russians were famous for making mock-ups of craft and claiming it could do this or that, just to try and fool the USA into thinking they had better stuff. I wouldn't doubt if this was merely one of those bullshitter things they came up with (since no one ever heard any more about this craft again).

US army is wired up for local engagements against minor countries hence the use of air-carriers. Russian are more oriented on a cold-war scenario as they send no army on other continents. An air-carrier is a useless thing in a war between US and Russia (can be cleared off with 1 minor missile). Still on missiles Russians retain a slight advantage.

@papagamias On aircrafts both have superb stuff, on land based armies both have superb stuff (and both have a lot of crap too...). On GPS and Intelligence management Americans have a clear advantage, no question on that. The GLONASS is finally working and redressed the balance for Russians but only after 15 years after the US GPS. However, still on missile technology Russians have an advantage. Also Russia has double the surface of US and less than 50% of the population so suffers less in a war

When the U.S does get a chance to look inside the 5th Generation fighter, they will see a mock up replica (a made up copy). There was a time when Russia could have been equally advanced but not exceeded (spying). But the U.S with all its inventions, theres no way. This seems to be a version of a coanda effect vehicle. Apparently, it flopped horrendously because later reports said that the main backer of the project had quit in disgust because the damn thing didn't work. Just about any high-school kid in America could have told them that, because coanda effect vehicles are highly inferior to plain old helicopters, which routinely lift off vertically and can have quite amazing capabilities. See Apache helicopter videos, for example.

This "UFO" is nothing else than 'EKIP' (ecology and progress). It is an aircraft desighnet by Lev Schukin. Because of the bad situation in Russia during the nineties, this aircraft was never produced in series. Lev Schukin died 2001.
