  • Im with you Mark, this cultural shift to romatiscisiing the demonic & new age & subtly deceiving & twisting our western culture has been building for decades & is now plain as day. Its a black & white issue now - the grey zone is growing darker by the month. The light needs to shine - thank you for what you preach - keep the Truth coming.

  • "miley ray cyrus?"

  • Hehehe "the immortal Nicolas FLAMel"

  • The moment this man condemned Stephanie Meyer for being a Mormon, and began to bash on another religion as being "wrong", he lost what little credibility he had to me.

I agree with the whole pedophile aspect though, and I've been saying for years its just as creepy for older woman to scream and squeal over a 16-17 year old boy as it is for a man to scream over a 16 year old girl.

People are free to read and fantasize about whatever they like. Stories are made for your imagination...

  • I like how a book can be forbidden because it's called "The Sorceress". He acts like it's common sense that all these books shouldn't be read. Even if you accept that magic is bad, a book called "The Sorceress" could be about how sorcery is bad.

  • *Whispers* Twilight.

  • For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Romans 14:11For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.Matthew 24:24Beware of false prophets. They come to you disguised as sheep, but in their hearts they are vicious wolves.Matthew 7:15

  • question if satan "is real"( think about it.) How would he get people to follow him, instead of God? especailly young girls????

  • @sardwyn : that's such a simplistic way of talking about something you obviously have no idea of. you're right down the path of ignorant talking, so i suggest you study some first and than bring your ideas out here :)

  • this dude is seriously messed up in the head. Twilight was started by a demon in which they brainwash little girls to be sexual attracted to wolves. Oh my god, and I thought the mormons were nuts!

  • @Changesomething101

no dude, your missing the whole point, if your just gonna troll and not try to use your head then you dont even deserve any attention

  • @RedStreak40 the sad thing is I am using my head. The only part he has a point on is the pedophile aspect of twilight, which is a great point and should be addressed. But come on' demons starting the mormon religion?? Both Christianity and mormonism are far fetched stories that people decide to believe in. You can't prove either one, so the discussion will go on forever. Mark is also a guy that said yoga is a practice into the demon world! Fin' yoga! Come on man!

  • The real question is are you Team Jacob or Team Edward? Stop judging and pick a team.

  • @xMissJessiica Does going to school bring you closer to God? Does reading newspapers bring you closer to God? Does listening to Music bring you closer to God? Does spending time with your family bring you closer to God?

  • @scrap222666 God can be glorified through many vessels. When I listen to uplifting music, God is being glorified through the artist's ability to be creative. When I attend school, God is glorified through the opportunities that He has given me to learn and gain an education. But when I read Twilight all those years ago, God was not glorified. I didn't praise Him or thank Him once. He cannot be found in a piece of literature that promotes evil things. He is light, and in Him there is no darkness.

  • @xMissJessiica But how many of that time in school did you glorify god? Did you glorify god in your science class learning about the big bang and evolution? Such a hypocrite. The same "glorify god everywhere" concept can be applied to Twilight. You glorify god reading Twilight by praising and thanking him for giving people imagination to think about how evil stuff can be conquered.

  • @scrap222666 Actually, yes. I'm not 'threatened' by the big bang theory or evolution; in fact, I've studied them extensively. But that's beside my point. Evil isn't conquered in Twilight-- she marries the stupid vampire AND has a child with him! You might want to get a bit more imaginative with your reasoning.

  • @xMissJessiica Yes because marring a vampire and having a child with him is so much more evil than killing women and children (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)

  • @scrap222666 You've used that passage out of context and for that I'm disregarding it. I could also pluck a few verses from the Qu'ran to support my argument. Until you find me a verse in any Christian text that supports vampirism, necrophilia, and bestiality, don't tell me that God can be glorified through Twilight. I don't care how much creativity Ms Meyer exercised in writing that book-- she did not make God her top priority, but her lust instead.

  • @xMissJessiica How can killing children be in any content? Please explain.

  • @scrap222666 God never condones murder-- heck, 'thou shalt not murder' is one of the Ten Commandments-- but the society that Ezekiel 9:5-7 talks about was desperately wicked. In one of my earlier comments I said that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. He is inherently good and therefore, He cannot allow sin to live among His people. That's why He marked His true followers and allowed the rest to die to their sin.

  • @xMissJessiica So how are children able to grasp what sin even is? Would you kill a child just because his parents are sinful? Also newsflash we have all lied so we are all sinful, he is letting 7 billion people live with sin.

  • @xMissJessiica context*

  • Alarmist Christians are the funniest Christians.

  • @delsomebody i'm an alarmist christian! glad to be your service. : )

  • I think the problem he is trying to bring up is focus. Where we put our time and resources is where our heart is.

  • I agree! :)

  • I am terrified for his daughter. He's going to train her to be the perfect wife and submit to a man and "know her place".

  • "Dead people don't talk to you" ... like jesus?

  • @RackAttacks Jesus isn't dead.

  • Wait..reading vampire books is evil, but drinking Jesus' blood and eating his body is the way to Heaven?

  • @sardwyn3 Your comment outlines your complete ignorance. Go and study Christianity properly before you make an 'argument' against it.

  • @xMissJessiica What exactly am I being ignorant about? Symbolic cannibalism is a part of Christianity in many denominations and originated in the Biblical account of the Last Supper. Vampirism is an equally human element of traditional stories in many cultures. Your myths are not "better" than theirs, just more socially accepted at the moment.

  • @sardwyn3 'But drinking Jesus' blood and eating his body is the way to Heaven?' Ignorance. Right there. The Last Supper did not provide the disciples with salvation. It is a form of symbolism for it, but not a literal translation for: 'eat this and drink this! yay! you just got into heaven!' which is what your original comment implies. I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything, just pointing out that you need to phrase your comments more carefully to get across your actual point.

  • Comment removed

  • @xMissJessiica I think the notion of salvation itself is pretty ignorant. Out of all the squintillions of lifeforms that have ever existed on this planet, only the humans who lived within earshot of a certain desert tribe's historical ramblings and later mistranslations, who believed REALLY HARD that it was the absolute truth, would get their little souls scooped up by the Guy in the Sky & preserved for infinity, because God likes their singing. Yeah, THAT makes perfect sense.

  • @sardwyn3 There's this thing called... "symbolism" ... and the blood aint really Jesus' blood...it's tasty grapejuice or wine ... the body aint Jesus' really body... it's bread or wafers. The intent behind it was to remember Jesus... he says "this do in remembrance of me" (Luke 22)

it's to symbolize a covenant... nothing evil about it...in fact totally clean and true.

  • @sardwyn3 It is not literally His blood or His body. It is symbolic of the blood He shed on the cross for our salvation and much more and the brokenness of His body so our bodies can be healed and complete.

  • BRA-A-A-A-VO!!!!!

  • Fake people don't talk to YOU. HOPE THAT HELPS.

The Bible is fiction like The Necromancer is.

  • @chaseren11 Yeah, he's done exactly what you're talking about. Debates with Depok Chopra & the like. And he usually ends up making other people look silly.

  • @LindsayLovesMac Don't know where you did your research but Joseph was definitely not 90. Also, you are talking about an entirely different culture. There's nothing hypocritical about this.

  • He says it's wrong for a mom to lust over a (fictional) 17-year-old, then goes on to say "Do you really think things are any different from the days of Jesus?... blah blah blah" Umm does this guy not realize that Joseph was 90 and Mary was 12-14 when they had a baby? Hypocrite.

  • The reason there aren't any is because this guy knows he'd look like a complete fool if he actually tried to defend any of the ridiculous things he says, so he avoids them, most likely.

  • This guy is a humongous douche bag who actually thinks that being macho is a virtue. How can anyone believe any of the garbage that comes out of his mouth? Just look up his views on how men should act "like men" and you will quickly realize how delusional and what a dumb ass he really is. I would love to see him in an actual debate about Christianity.

  • @chaseren11 Um he has been iin many debates about Christianity, I'd like to see you in one,

  • @loganbrennis Link? I've literally never seen a single one. And I'm talking about with real scientists/philosophers, not other Christians or something.

  • Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. This comment is about as interesting as this video.

  • I am 18 years old, I believe in god, I go to church, but I don't think it is wrong and horrible to read the twilight books, I read them and they way I interpreted it was that it is showing teenage girls that you can be two completely different people and still fall in love and when I say different I mean you could be white and fall in love with and african american, you could be rich and fall in love with a not so rich person. I think it is all based on your mind set and how you interpret it.

  • It's not that being a cougar peadophile is ok, it's being a female peadophile,in general, is ok in today's society; yet these same 'cougar peadophiles' would be outraged at males their own age, along with their teenage sons, openly lusting after 16-year-old TV actresses.

  • How is mormonism any different than your fake ass religion. There are gods and prophets and retarted scriptures. Mormonism=Other Religions.

  • Well maybe, Mark Driscoll, these teenage girls don't want to be Christian, ever thought of that. Maybe they realize that all the crap they read about vampires and magic and shit isn't any more fake than talking snakes and a jealous god in your bible.

  • i love twilight....

  • @RedDragon033195 and trolling to apparently.

  • @sparksza1 actually i don't, and that wasnt a troll comment. to be a troll comment it would have to blatently and intentionally stirr emotion. if that stirrs emotion within you, the you have issues.

  • This is Bull crap. This guy has no idea what he's talking about. I am a teenager who loves Jesus and have read all the twilight books and have two of the movies. By his logic for that i'm going to hell. People need to stop preaching about things that they have no knowledge of. Ignorance is not bliss.

  • @luvJesus171 Not once did Mark say that people who watch Twilight are going to hell. I'm a teenage girl who loves and believes in Jesus, and yes, I have read all of the Twilight books. But it is YOUR ignorance if you think that Twilight contains any content that glorifies God. Talking to the dead, lusting after someone's blood, and committing acts of necrophilia are NOT what Jesus wants for His followers. AT ALL. You might want to fix your own ignorance and then watch this again.

  • @xMissJessiica First of all its you that needs to fix your ignorance. Cause if you had any knowledge of what you are talking about you would know that there is no talking to the dead or any kind of satanic/demonic rituals in any of the Twilight books, furthermore you would know that the series is nothing more than a romantic story while two of the guys happen to be mythical creatures. So I read a couple of romance novels, big deal! Last I checked reading wasn't a sin.

  • @luvJesus171 Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Edward a vampire? The definition of a vampire is a 'reanimated corpse or dead person'. Look it up. Therefore, Edward is dead, and when Bella speaks to him, she is SPEAKING TO THE DEAD. She also marries the dead and has sex with the dead, further incriminating Twilight as a book that is unsuitable for Christians. I'm all for romance, but I'm not for necrophilia, and neither is God. If you want to argue with Him and His word, go right ahead.

  • @xMissJessiica I got news for you dude, vampires aren't real! So how can there be a legit definition of a vampire? And even if that was a legit definition, he almost dies in the books so how can he almost die if he's already dead? Listen dude i'm not arguing with God's word, no where in the Bible does it say not to read Twilight. I'm arguing people who are too quick to judge things that they completely ignorant of. So don't try to make this about my faith.

  • @luvJesus171 I honestly don't know why you keep using the word 'ignorant'. I said I've read all of the Twilight books, AND I enjoyed them. But then God revealed to me that nothing in them glorifies His name. Nothing. I'm aware that vampires aren't real, but demons are, and they enjoy using folklore and mythical creatures to entice people to glorify darkness instead of light, which is found in Jesus. Tell me, does Twilight make you want to follow God, or have a teen romance?

  • @xMissJessiica

I don't know what is more unlikely that someone could believe in vampires as a result of "twilight" or that people could believe in demon-possessed pigs as a result of reading "matthew."

Christianity is a cult of human sacrifice complete with blood and gore and torture. Many people are drawn into it and are perfectly fine. Some actually believe that everything in the bible is literally true and still lead upstanding lives. lol

  • @xMissJessiica Oh, for some reason when you said that I thought you were quoting me. But there is nothing wrong with a teen romance. So long as someone's number one priority is God then why should it matter if they're in a teenage relationship? Plus not everything in life has to be evangelical. Yes, God is the greatest thing about life and if Twilight made me stray from my walk with Him I would stay away from them. But it doesn't and I know of anyone who has that problem.

  • @luvJesus171 I agree, romance is a beautiful thing and something that God Himself designed specifically for His people to enjoy. But, if God is your number one priority, you should really consult Him before you read books like Twilight, which contain elements of mythical folklore. That's what Mark is really getting at in this video - talk to God and ask His opinion BEFORE you venture out and read these books. By doing so, you're putting Him first.

  • @xMissJessiica I don't understand why i would need to consult God on reading books about things that aren't real. If there's no negative effect on my christian walk, and I don't feel the need to go drink blood i don't see how it's such a big deal. Yes I want to put God first in my life but these are just books.

  • @xMissJessiica Niether, but it does make me realize that I could find love someday, that I don't have to love someone who is exactly like me that we can be two completely different people.

  • @luvJesus171 I agree with you, but at the same time. I think teenage girls are smart to realize that having sex with a dead person is wrong in many ways. I also feel that just because you read the books it is going to make you want to marry and make love to a dead person. I have read them two and never once while reading the books or even after or even after seeing the movies have I ever once thought about walking away from my faith.I worship my lord and savior everyday.

  • @luvJesus171 sorry that was meant for the post under yours.

  • @xMissJessiica Hey Jessica, Jesus was a reanimated corpse or dead person. Look it up. I believe that this would incriminate bible thumpers as worshipping zombies. LMAO

  • @anju43 I understand what you're saying, but the point that Mark is trying to make is that anything that doesn't glorify God isn't worthy of your time as a Christian. Sure, Twilight may not make you want to walk away from God, but does it bring you closer to Him? I'd love to have a wonderful romance someday, but God comes first. No exceptions. If that's too hard of a commitment for some people, so be it, but God is everlasting and eternal. Teenage romances aren't.

  • @xMissJessiica Does eating food bring you closer to God? Does sleeping late bring you closer to God? Does having a pet bring you closer to God? Does having a job bring you closer to God? Does having hobbies bring you closer to God? Does reading any book besides the Bible bring you closer to God?

  • @luvJesus171 I agree. Also, doesnt he know that it's FICTION? Shouldn't his faith be strong enough to withstand a teenage fictional book? If he finds that so dangerous then I guess he's not the "righteous" (jajajaja!) man he claims to be.

  • @8azile8 Thank you! Yeah you're right. Instead of being so caught up condemning Twilight which is purely meant for entertainment purposes only and has nothing to do with satanism, he and everyone else should be concerned with problems things that are actually affecting the church. I'm sorry but I don't know a single person who struggles with their faith when watching twilight.

  • Great :)

  • 17 year old marrying a 108 year old vampire. That's gross. what about the Holy Spirit impregnating a 13 year old? Sounds pretty gross to me too. If the first one equals pedophilia, so does the second one.

  • while i can appreciate and understand his take on and concern about pop culture, and i share some of his views, i do not think it's appropriate for him *no matter how many Christian giggles it may generate* to call people names. calling someone the Antichrist, even in jest, is demeaning, cruel and uncalled for. Christians should be bold.. not mean.

  • Promoted Video "Ping Pong Master, Mormon"

    *Facepalm*

  • the term 'cougar mom' is new to me - can someone tell me what it means?

  • I've never really understood the anger against magic...at least, in fantasy and not even trying to understand it.

If there are demons in many fantasy novels like lord of the rings or something? THEY'RE USUALLY THE BAD GUYS. The good guys use the power of light and righteousness to defeat these things!

Even if you do go down the 'path of evil' in this case there are definate disadvantages and consequences to it...drives me nuts is all.

  • @Glandorray agreed.

  • AWESOME AND FULL OF TRUTH! GO MARK!

  • I agree with him! Twilight is garbage!

  • So, wast this a sermon or more of a review/commentary?

  • You want a high-action, supernatural novel? Google The Calling of Mike Malone. Awesome!

  • Two great books:

    1. Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evens

    2. Snow Angel by Glenn Beck

    1. Fiction story where an electromagnetic machine exploded giving electrical powers to some kids.

    2. A story about abuse & freedom from it.

  • IF HE LOVES YOU HE'LL NEVER BITE YOU!!

I think he's funny. From the perspective of a Christian parent, what can you expect?

  • this guy is insane

  • He's got the point. I was thinking the same things bout it, but at the same time, I read all the books and love the romance. Through a stone at me :)

  • It seems like many Christians blissfully ignore the definition of the word FICTION.

  • @pwn00bz1337 your wrong, the proper level and respect for real truth is almost non existent. many years ago angels walked the earth, miracles never ceased to exist. as the current cynical population fails to believe can happen and calls it fiction. hardly anyone believes like they should or has the close relationship with god they need to be spiritually aware.

  • @BlueDyno So you're telling me that Christians actually believe that vampires and werewolves really exist? You have got to be fucking kidding me. From what you just said, I have to accept Jesus Christ as my savior in order to all of a sudden be enlightened to the existence of such MYTHOLOGICAL creatures. Many years ago angels walked the earth? No, my friend. Many years ago dinosaurs walked the earth. Whether you believe in dinosaurs or not, they actually existed.

  • @pwn00bz1337 yep, we evolved from monkeys.. couldn't fool you.

  • @pwn00bz1337 Where did Mark say that he believes in werewolves and vampires?

Do you have any verbal comprehension skills at all? He says that these stories are mainstream and not OK.

  • @ZacMan1987 He talks about them like they're real. Even the 12 year old girls that read that shit are smart enough to not take it literally. And let's not all start sucking Driscoll's dick just yet. The dude is a closed-minded sexist fuck, it's a wonder you people eat up everything he says.

  • @pwn00bz1337 Even though it is fiction, it is still founded on truth. That is what makes good fiction. So, there is fiction that teaches good things, and fiction that teaches bad things. This man thinks that the fictional novel series that is Twilight teaches bad things. Of course he knows what fiction is, but he also understands that this series teaches things that are NOT good.

  • @BelovedCaptain It's still founded in truth? No, it absolutely is NOT founded in truth. Hence, FICTION. Those books are works of FANTASY. NONE of it is real. Never will be. You ignorantly dismiss these books as works of the devil thinking that little girls are gonna run off and marry 100-year-old-vampires. The girls that read these books do so for the vicarious thrill of meeting a sparkly vampire who is a huge soft crybaby. Nothing about these books is evil or "founded on truth." Please grow up.

  • Thank you Mark for having the guts to stand and speak the truth in such a great way! The humor you brought helped it to be digestible and yet the truth was spoken in a clear concise manner. The reason people get angry is because that is their first defense when their sin is placed in front of them. Sin is sin that isn't judging! The Bible is VERY clear on all the topics these books contain. This is not a grey area in the least. So thank you.

  • @luppyNat Exactly! Right? That's what the new-age post-modernist emergent seeker sensitive church is all about. They love to itch ears.2 TIMOTHY 4:3-4 3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." Driscoll's Biblically unsound doctrine and fables are itching plenty of ears.

    -Evangelist Dan

  • Why is Driscoll scoffing at his daughter for picking up these books on the Kindle? He encouraged this behavior with his demonic preaching. Now, he's ridiculing his daughter, when if he wasn't preaching sex in the church, profanity, and alcoholism...then maybe; if his daughter heard the Gospel preached without the new-age bells and whistles, she would repent and wouldn't be subject to ponder such subjects that the spirit of her father's(Driscoll's) preaching brought in. Discernment on Driscoll?

  • @LindenbaumMusikLtd he didn't scoff at his daughter....he researched what was on the top reading list. His daughter is making an effort to steer other teens AWAY from that stuff....chill out and be careful lest you be judged the way you are judging.

  • @LindenbaumMusikLtd Ephesians 6:1-4 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Sounds like God's going to hold Driscoll accountable.

  • what a moron

  • I see his point, but he is going a bit overboard. It's just a story. I personally love twilight and I don't, nor does anyone else I know, take it so seriously that I want a vampire to be in love with me. It's just entertainment.

  • @alenacamile you are already deceived if you think satan doesn't appear as an angel of light and in many things getting people to say, "it's no big deal"...he's already won. What if someone cooked you some brownies and put just a little bit of poop in them...would you eat that, too? What you love is probably the idea of romance - but you're being deceived. No such thing as "JUST ENTERTAINMENT"...and Christians are not supposed to be living a life of being "entertained".

  • @gateway2dreams This kind of vulgar and child-like vernacular is the same to be expected from what follows of Driscoll speak. By the way, Christ did not give us jurisdiction to judge, but to discern. If you're one of the "judge lest" people, you might want to consider reading the rest of Matthew 7. You paraphrased verse one. Matthew 7:16-20 is a mandate from Christ to discern which means to judge their motives, if the Holy Ghost dwells. Just email me and I'll send you the PDF on Driscoll. -->

  • @LindenbaumMusikLtd My ministry email address is: evangelist.lindenbaum@yahoo.com

Neighbor, I'd like you to consider the words that Paul spake to Timothy in regards to discernment:

2 TIMOTHY 4:2 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." That's not judgement, that's discerning the good fruit from the bad. So was the Apostle wrong? Go ahead and email me, I have a PDF of quotations that expose the fruit Driscoll bears.

  • Well I don't like Harry Potter or Twilight but they in all honestly have virually nothing to do with each other.

  • Those books are recomended for PREteens? geez! Older Teens I can understand for fantasy, but Pre teens? they are barely understanding life, themselves, and cycles...

  • Actually, both Harry Potter and the Twilight series promote people to look to God. The main character in the Twilight series, Edward struggles with the worry that he is now soulless that he is a vampire and the main female character tries to help him see that God could still love him. People should read up on things before they condemn them...

  • Stuff like this is why the rest of the world think Americans are stupid.

  • Reason numero uno why I dislike Twilight.

  • This is amazing...and so true! Twilight is promoting the darkness of Satan! I'm so glad that he has spoken out about it! It needs to be said!

  • hmmm...just a bit judgemental here if you ask me. I see the concern on this movie/book but a lil dramatic...I think many Christians are led astray by the unobvious no no's (wolves in sheeps clothings) than some obvious fiction that many Christians hesitate to watch in the first place.

  • Folks that call themselves Christian and read, and watch movies that are dealing with the forces of evil and call it good need to reevaluate their relationship with Jesus.

  • This is an amazing video! Mark is very gifted in speaking the TRUTH! Thank you for your words of wisdom!

  • I am sorry Mark but you are way off base on this one. I usually love what you have to say but come on man. You are talking like it is real. It is FICTION.

  • @88fiveo As a Christian, shouldn't we apply the same principals to the fiction we consume as we do to anything else? It's ok to read/watch Satanic material if it's fiction, but if it's true it should be something Godly? (Assuming you're a Christian)

  • @88fiveo IT IS REAL! Gosh.....you totally missed the point!!! THIS HAPPENS!!! ITS SATAN!! God gave my friend a gift of sight...so he can see darkness and goodness. He has seen the mist and crap thats in Harry Potter...IT IS REAL! Satan is trying to make people think that its 'just fiction'! Come' on...seriously!

  • This guy is a narrow-minded idiot.

  • I agree with you, brother. No teenaged daughter of mine will ever be allowed to marry a 108-year-old vampire. That is disgusting and wrong. The very fact that this sort of degenerate relationship is tolerated in the realm of fiction is absolutely offensive. I hope you will join me in my letter-writing campaign, in which I appeal to Professor Abraham van Helsing to travel to the town of Forks and purge it with holy fire.

  • Kind of says it all when he exclaims "Just look at that!"...Uhh, yeah, it's called a book cover. Try actually reading what's inside before you judge it.

  • This is so close-minded.

  • its just a book but it shouldnt be read by preteens and teens

  • And to all you angry commenters, chill out. The anonymity of the internet doesn't hide your hateful words from the Lord. It is better to "err" on the side of righteousness than of evil, especially where our precious children are concerned.

  • I appreciate his thoughts, though I recognize his innacuracies (sp?) and omissions. Just read Twilight last week, and though it was creative, entertaining, and communicated some good lessons, I can't say that it's something I would want to influence my kids, especially when there are SO MANY other great books to read out there. It's a gray area, certainly, so I'm not going to judge someone for reading them and enjoying them, but neither will I promote them and call it a good thing.

  • We are not bad people. Bad people in Church make christians look bad to us. Bad witches in movies make witches look bad to you. Who is living in the real world and who isn't. Hide everything from your children and they will rebel. BELEIVE ME. I am the daughter of a hardcore Pentacostal Pastor for all of my living days. I love witchcraft because it is loving. We like the negative conotations because its funny how people lable us. Figure out the truth before you teach it to the world.

  • Learn something about witchcraft. We are probably nicer than most christians... just sayin... All of US ANTICHRISTS (whatever.. look at yourself in the mirror) believe if you put out negative it will come back to you... the caster.. 3 fold. This is the basis of Witchcraft. Occult is the name of any group trying to bring what is unknown to light. Christians are occults in many countries were it is not permitted. Every hollywood print is a fictional propaganda. I even teach my children this.

  • And how about Harry Potter ?? !!

  • Let me just say that I am a Twilight fan and a fan of the vampire genre, but I realize that it is just a book/ movie/ tv show / whatever! I Christian and I believe that it is alright to like films/television/ books like such, but it is also important to realize that they are fiction! When you read or watch something like that it is important to leave it on the book, or on the screen!

  • @samramirez12 You are missing the point! These sort of books are promoting darkness and Satan!! I have actually seen the mist and crap thats in Harry Potter!! Why are people thinking its ok to fill people (even young girls) with ddarkness?! It blows my mind!!

  • Amen. For those who think that simply because it's marketed to kids, it's ok- here's a wake up call. Kids are the next generation- they're the easiest to target, and get on board with the occult. Satan isn't powerful enough to snag someone who knows what he is about....kids look at it from a kid perspective- and find it fun... nothing about the occult is 'fun'.....it's deadly from a spiritual perspective.

  • Tell us something we don't know Mark.. Why don't you tell us how to use are authority, perform healings, signs and wonders like Jesus commanded us to, and change our cities instead of just pointing out how bad everything is? We know it's bad because we watch the news. What need to hear is how to change our cities. Not through the same ol' stuff that hasn't been working, but the stuff that Jesus said to do that actually works.. Love and Power. 2 things much of the church doesn't have today..

  • AWESOME. WELL SAID. People are blind to the truth they dont see anything wrong with it but that is how satan works.

  • There is fiction & non-fiction which is thruth & non-truth. What will he do next a book burning? I like the non-fiction books of the Twilight series. Judging people. So if Mark Driscoll needs to put down the "Twilight" series - books, movies, characters, actors, etc. to make him feel better then that is his own buisness. I will accept him for Mark & not judge him. & how come he has not said anything about Harry Potter? It is hard for me to be around people who judge. Just saying my thoughts.

  • ...cougar moms....

    WIN!

  • twilight is a great book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @BEKABOB18 Think Again. The book is pretty bad

  • Wow, very eye-opening!

  • What a waste of the pulpit time, he could have been preaching the Word.

  • @ZnYLGaming He was preaching, the Word instructs us not to be deceived and it seems his message convey that sentiment. The Word also instructs us to be imitators of Christ not vampires. Leviticus admonishes us to avoid divinations of ever type and Corithians tells us that darkness and light have no fellowship. He is addressing a very ubiquitous force that is enslaving many Christians that lack knowledge.

  • The Twilight series is a make believe story. It is a story about good versus evil. Much tamer than most stories in our Lord's book. As a mother of several teens, I read the books to see what they were saying. I saw the movies with my teen son, and was able to watch the movies without lusting over the actors. I think that your judgements are a bit arrogant and not accurate. If a morman created pizza would you then not eat pizza??? FYI...the vampires don't live forever, they are killed also.

  • First minute was too boring to see if this got funny...

  • Fddishes for 16-year old vampires? Actually, Edward is 17... ;D

  • I don't want to sound rude or anything, but just because something has to do with vampires and such doesn't mean it has to do with the devil. It's entertainment. If everything in the entertainment industry was "Christian" then there wouldn't be an entertainment industry because NO ONE would pay any attention to the movies/books coming out. That's just how it is. It takes people out of reality for a while. You know out of this crappy world we now live in.

  • @BrittxNicole13 anything that is contrary to The Truth has the devil as its source. Entertainment does not automatically rule out the fact that there is a world view or point that is being promulgated by a film or book. Temporary escapes from reality through entertainment does not equip a person to better deal with reality. That just likens media entertainment to mind-altering drugs. Subtlety, ignorance and popular opinion are responsible for warping the view things that are dangerous

  • You have no idea what your talking about.

  • well it's a distraction of the real world. there is people who want to be a vampire if they don't exist. the devil does many distractions just so they can ignore God. vampires are dinimical . . satan probably laughing at us right now for liking twilight. but I know everyone is into the people not vampires or werewolves. we like the actors .

  • Mark, thank you for having the guts to expose this line of demonic, toxic culture of vampirism!

  • That's just dumb. People who are secure enough in their faith knows that the books and movies are just for entertainment. Plus you seem to know an awful lot about something you say you know nothing about.

  • Ok this is completely ridiculous, even if you are naive enough to believe in religion, reading a book or watching a movie is not the work of the devil. they are not portraying it as real. This isn't like your beloved bible that claims it is real when it is just the fairy tale writings of some desert dwellers who thought they should show the word some moral lessons. Books and movies are fake and fantasy not reality i know your view is skewed cuz you believe in the ultimate fairy tale but cmon.

  • You, sir, are an IDIOT. Get over yourself...

  • This church and pastor are trying a bit too hard to be cool, with the stage set up, attire and sneakers. Add some comedy, makes for a good performance. Reading fiction books will not harm a child as long as they know they should never attempt it in real life. This is retarded. I think the reason I'm not a christian anymore is because I'm too smart to accept anything the pastor says as truth.

  • I agree, to some point, but I have read Twilight, and I think if you look at it in the right eyes, and know that it is merely a story, then I think that you are fine.

  • And these books aren't out to take people to hell; they simply tell a story with supernatural elements in them. It's not brainwashing your children. Calm down. I have read most of these and there is nothing about devil-worshipping or anything like that. Gosh, what is wrong with people..

  • Wow, this is so stupid. If you are going to judge these, at least have the decency to read them first because 1) you can't judge something based on the cover when you don't even know the story and 2) then you won't sound like a freaking idiot rambling on and on when you have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about.

  • This is really great teaching! I wish everyone would listen to this and take heed to what is said here.

    Thank you!!!

    Lynn

  • WOW. AMEN! And, sadly, the problem is that people don't understand the SPIRITUAL influence from reading or watching or having anything to do with these types of materials. It is not that they will make you want to become a wiccan, witch, sorcerer, etc... it's that there are SPIRITS attatched to these! They are things inspired by satan whether the authors are aware of it or not, and therefore it is like letting a door open for satan to come into your family's life!

  • @xxembrassemoixx satan is already in everyones life.... does he not tempt everyone anyway? These books are not satanic in any way shape or form. If this pastor wants to talk about real problems why not talk about drugs... christians automatically think anything they can't understand is the work of the devil. If its not all sunshine puppy dogs and unicorns than its a s... oh wait exclude the unicorns. Those don't exist either so they must be part of the devils plan to corrupt teenage minds.
