  • Applause! :)

  • go on richie, i met him once in his home, lovely sax player, he showed how to do circular breathing with a straw and a glass or water, i still cant do it. from a fellow irish man . brilliant bud

  • wow :o

this is my kind of music XD

    hell yea :)

  • It's so funny how sometimes you see a street performer who's actually amazing. Yesterday I bought a Cd form a guy name Vadim Brunell on a street and he just blow me away. :)

  • @guitarghostman lol totaly agree, more than once bought tapes and CDs from street performers xD

  • GREAT player, not only does it swing, he tells a story too!

I would like to play like that some day... not sure why people dislike this video...to those people: try to play one note like this guy, then come back

  • what's the name of song?????

  • It`s cool....

  • Molto bravo!

  • man, i always wanted to play the tenor, but I've settled for alto, i think the tenor it too big for me to handle

  • Me encanta

    yeeeaaaa

  • Dedykacja dla Barbary. Krzysztof.

  • Most excellent.

  • that is superb....i play tenor but nowhere near as good as that but people like this guy set the benchmark and give you something to work to.........Tip top Richie Buckley !!!

  • Van the Man has Richie on tour with him almost all of the time. The guy rocks.

  • gjhjhjjojjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

  • Por favor, les pido con todo respeto que lean esto. Chupenme la verga!!!!

  • fucker rocks the joint

  • fucking hell go on brother thats the way

  • Scale worker.

  • ha, would it sound better if he played chords?

  • @therealrockpresley It's hard to play chords on a sax, nay, impossible even.

  • @TheStupidcomment nice, you missed that one. you said "scale worker", being negative about the man's playing, which is obviously nice playing. even so, being a "Scale worker" is sort of REQUIRED by a sax player. you outline chord changes and "WORK SCALES" to get the desired sound. so i replied with "ha, would it be better if he played chords?". let me know when it sinks in. i'll wait.

p.s.- don't be so negative and ignorant. be SMART like me.

  • @therealrockpresley You're in for a long wait friend.

  • Can we find more videos or songs ? I don't find something on youtube...

  • sounds good

  • It's not that high and you're all idiots. All of you.

  • chupame las bolas

  • ohh mighty one your sounding like a fool to me.

  • you talk shit man

  • You're right. He doesn't even touch altissimo (except for the G) ... Makes me wonder if he's even capable of it. LOL

  • @saxman8050 well him playing the G obviously shows he's capable of it.

  • @craisslayer: Not really. Seeing as it's only one note, and it is the lowest altissimo note possible.

  • @saxman8050 so, the improv is obviously amazing.... no one but woodwind players even care about altissimo.

  • Great! Can anyone identify the album/composition?

  • Pretty cool, especially after 2:00. But (as usual) the rhythm is up so loud you can't really hear his tenor in the mix. So it's probably good he didn't use any harmonic innovations during this solo--since no one would have heard them.

  • Richie Buckley

  • purée jadore!! c génial! qui est le saxophoniste?

  • Nice.

  • awsome tenor love it ill add and subscribe

  • It is a tenor sax. The first give away is the sheer size of the instrument, and secondly and more important is the fact that the tenor sax has a curved tube going to the mouthpiece.

  • it is obviously a soprano sax. are yall crazy? i bet u cant tell the difference between a clarinet and a straw... retards...

  • no thats not a soprano sax...its a tenor i should know i use to play one

  • I can't believe you people are argueing over this but yes it is a Tenor and if you listen to enogh music you can tell the difference very easily between tenor and alto..... Tenor is a B flat insturment and Alto is e flat

  • Hey, he's really awesome!

Great rhythms and a jazzed up sound.

    Nicely done man.

  • ofcourse it is a tenor! =S

who thinks it is an alt is wrong!!

    >: D

    I'm always rightt! *whieee*

  • I can't believe anyone can listen to this or look at it and think its an alto. He's obviously playing a tenor and doing a pretty good job at it too.

  • sounds like a TENOR to me

  • This is fake, he's playing a tenor saxophone, it isn't that high pitched.

  • it's pretty obvious you have 0 idea of what you're talking about.

  • what about at 0:28 when he goes really low?

When he goes high, it distinctly sounds like a tenor playing a high note, which is different than an alto playing the same note (in concert key).

    kthxbye

    P.S. dont feel too silly

  • It's definitely a tenor sax. First off, you can see the distinctive curved neck. Also, in perspective the sax is too big. This guy is a full grown man, but the sax reaches past his waste. An alto would only reach this guy's belly button.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha Uzi104, you're an idiot.

  • takes one to know one fag.

  • It is a tenor, and he doesn't exceed the top end of the tenor sax.

  • Fake. He's lipsyncing

  • you don't know a shit. Think before you post that. Start learning music and don't be envy. I am a sax player and this guy knows how to blow a horn and of course it's much better than me!

  • nice

  • Not sure why there are all these negative comments. I really like the groove this guy is putting down. I personally prefer someone who can really swing, rather than someone who is just a pattern spitting machine.

I like the feeling in his playing.

  • anyone knows the name of the song they're playing?

  • Yes TwoTone he is ok,but man you sound like his Agent, with all that time name droping thing going on,and it might be cool to drop all that genius with all the world reputation of sax players.

  • Hey man,I'm just defending someone who I know is a great player. I've seen him live at least 10 times, and I agree, this solo aint the best, but he sure aint shit. And that genius thing was a quote from one of Ireland's leading newspapers.

  • this guy jams.....his lung capacity is awesome

  • Don't brag about the people you know.

And this solo was good. not phenom. but good.

    so you shut your mouth.

  • This guy has played with Van Morrison, Freddie Hubbard, Dave McKenna, Harry Allen, Lew Soloff, Guy Barker, Jiggs Wigham, Bob Dylan, Georgie Fame, Jon Hendricks, Carlos Santana, Barry Manilow, and Elvis Costello. He has written scores for 4 films. He has released a critically acclaimed album. The Irish times said this about him: "something of a genius[with] a world reputation amongst saxophonists"

I really dont think he is that bad.

  • Before you diss this cat learn that he will burn every memory of High School, Middle, and Elementary school with his god-sent skills. It takes talent and many hours of playing to achieve that level of complexity... For you to sit on your comp and openly diss this Master, learn how to hop young grasshopper... or should I say pitiful cricket

  • you don't know anybody in middle school who can play that well but I do know high schoolers who can play better as well so i agree wit you on that

  • ur a demon sax player m8,brilliant

  • wow.. this is awesome..

  • the sad part, is i know a college freshmen who's better than this guy. in fact, he was better than this guy last year in high school.

  • you want to see great sax playing check out the solo this guy lays down with the doobie brothers on long train runnin.. i still dont know who this guy is

  • what an awesome baritone saxophone solo! wicked!

    *Joke*

  • lol you mean tenor sax right?

  • I love RB's playing....I dont get on with Jazz so much but when he plays for a band, Rock and Roll or Rythm and Blues its just great. Ive seen him a few times with Van morrison. Just Great! Hes a top sax man!

  • Nice

  • its a tenor sax guys jezzz.

  • c'est un tenor abruti!!!!!

J avoue c pas mal du tout mrd !!!

avec les petits suraigus perchés de tps en tps entre des phrasés inchiables...

    Il est relativement très fort!

  • great alto solo! keep it up!

  • its a tenor..............

  • It's a tenor saxophone.

    Must be embarrassing for you!

  • wait....this is a tenor!?!?

  • cant believe all these people thinking its an alto.. Its a tenor

  • who is this?

  • this is awsome I play sax and I don't think I will be that good any time soon

  • richie not a spot of dust on the rails buckley, does anybody know if he has a web page...... pa leese

  • Lmao at school I play the tenor sax..and I kinda suck...all the notes I play sound the same :P

  • Lmao at school I play the tenor sax..and I kinda suck...all the notes I play sound the same :P

  • i play alt-sax but i think tenor has much better sound (and i love it :D).

  • That's weird, because I always envied the alto's sound. I guess that tenor needs more work to get such a great sound.

  • it does, tenor is a lot of work, especially the lower notes, if you switch from tenor to alto, you'll sound freakin amazing on the alto, it's just odd...

  • I'm of the same opinion. Love the tenor. But I also love the deep sound that Charlie Parker gets out the alto. You don't hear that anymore.

Tenor can sound like an oboe, a bassoon, a clarinet, a flute, somebody screaming, a foghorn, somebody farting, etc. Amazing.

  • Coltrane said you could play a shoestring if you are sincere. This guy is SINCERE! Excellent job!

  • The solo isn't something that I would normally listen to but it really seems to rock. Strangely satisfying.

  • can u tell me what buttons u hit to get high altissimo 'g'?

  • front or "x" key and side Bb for altissimo g on tenor.(side Bb may be omitted) and for alto same fingering with the addition of 1st finger right hand, or 1st and 3rd fingers on both hands with side Bb.

  • Thank you, ill give it a try. 1 more question, when you say front or "x" key, do you mean the small key under the left hands 'b' & c?

  • it's the key right above the 'b' (left hand). also search on the internet for fingering charts because they're all over the place. also also: every horn is different so that implies that fingering X may not work on another horn. good luck

  • thanx my man, appeciate it.

  • Isn't that like the alternate "F" key? (for the alto)

  • for alto sax u press the register key and the first three notes. (With your left hand)

  • i cant tell wat kind of saxophone that is if u know plz tell thnx (i play alto sax)

  • tenor

  • Its a tenor sax

  • Nice...

  • did someone say micheal brecker?

  • nice but bad video quality.

  • wow

  • This is sizzlin' hot! It's just great. I'm a fan! Can you tell us who this is?

  • Holy shit! I cant watch this video. Its the only one that is refusing to play! Screen keeps saying: loading...

  • wah!!! terrible!!! merci!! sincerement, rien a dire... son bien perso, bonne technique... de la pure lecon de saxo:!!! wah j en tremble encore!!! piouh!! merci!!!

  • Very cool! I like the use of the whole tone substitutions. His sound is very Brecker-ish.

    Who is this?

  • Richie Buckley

  • yeah, who is it and where recorded???

  • thats good! who is it?
