  • very!! nice!

  • that is Very Nice :)

  • WOW simply AWESOME!!!!

  • ANy email for Steve ? vey nice job ...

  • Beautiful

  • I love it! The B17 is one if the best aircraft of the Great World War II. That aircraft flew with entire tail sections missing and they still brought the boys back! The B17G is my most favorite Bomber of World War II.

Great job guys! What an awesome sight!

  • @tondalayono1 D Day was on 6/6/1944...

  • Awesome.

  • Absolutely Beautiful. Sorry to hear of it's loss, I am sure the videos of her will be viewed for many years to come. Great work.

  • Beautiful.

  • Nice plane, but the horribly annoying music wrecked the video!

  • Respond to this video... they went in sometimes with out air support

  • Respond to this video... Netflix has a video on this mission we lost allot of them

  • @tondalayono1 yes the leaflets were aluminum to jam radar

  • Thats so BEAUTIFUL!!!! I wish it had no music so just to hear the beautiful engines. Wow what a great job you all did on this beautiful B-17

  • Very nice plane....wow

  • watch this video at same time

    /watch?v=VS-5mWwOL2A

  • dear Santa, :)

  • could you repost without the music please?

  • How do you get the time and money to build these huge planes? Did you get rich and retire early? Also do you have an engineering degree?

  • Beutiful plane & flite, I have a question about large rc planes , please exuse Im a nubee, with such large plane Ive noticed theres allways two controllers with one aircraft , could you explain why this is ? please.

  • that is badass!!

  • Can't wait to see you new B17. This one is beautiful!

  • Beautiful bird man... well done!!!

  • how you do that can you list the things you use

  • Having read the comment about Tondalayo being a B25. It may well have been as Tondalayo was a common name worn by several aircraft. There are about 4 B17s (inc this one )that I have read of. Would recomment a book called "the Fall of Fortresses.

Shame about the fate of this magnificent model.

  • @tondalayono1 Is this plane honestly too heavy for a full grown man to pick up all by himself? I saw on the wingspan website this plane can wiegh up to 100 pounds, but I still feel i could pick it up and carry alone, but its just would seem un gainly to hold!!! Is she easy to fly..Id personally be scared to fly this plane for fear of a crach!! You really gotta have guts to do that!!!

  • Very very impressive

  • hi can you tell me the make and model of the video camera you used to shoot this film with please , it looks really great thanks tim ..................

  • There are 2 dislikers that don't deserve to fly rc. Great plane. I wish I had one:)

  • First Class.

  • Bad luck on loosing it :( superb detailing....

  • It's an amazing plane!!!, and I am only being half sarcastic when I say that you could have done so much with that $35k...lol I love that plane but damn, you could have donated that cash to so many worthwhile causes. Don't listen to me though, I cannot and would not tell someone what to do with their money... It is a fantasic, beautiful waste of money... good on you mate.

  • do u use 2 transmiter to control or just 0ne.

  • i wana see your FW190 in this video fly

  • I wish youtube will come up with a optional to kill music during video playback, I'll rather listen to the engines.

  • Yes there was a B-25 with that name too. But The Tondelayo B-17 42-29896 379BG 8AF: Failed to return from Stuttgart Sep,6 1943

  • What a beautiful model, great flying, nice video. Thanks for making and sharing.

  • This model suffered a structural failure and was destroyed. What a shame.

  • beyond awesome...fantastic!!!

  • What a glorious tribute u guys have done to a magnificent aircraft. Fan-bloody-tastic!

  • Das ist ein schöner Vogel

  • All I can say is WOW!!! what a beauty

  • @tondalayono1 apologies good sir, i had it confused with a b-25 mitchell with the same name only spelled "Tondelayo" its is part of the wings of freedom tour. by the way Outstanding model!

  • Are there companies in the RC market that manufacture these ol' WarBirds?? There are a lot of talented enthusiast that build their own planes.. But, what about us dudes that don't have the skill or time to build one?? Just curious.. Mr. Thomas, you should start your own company if you haven't done so yet.

  • you must have balls...

  • i was looking at your project on rcwardbirds and just from the photos i knew it was aussie! excellent!

  • Bomb bay doors, it needs operating bay doors so you can bomb run the audience

  • what scale is it, about 1/6th?

  • Im just getting started on foam planes, lots of hot glue and stock spare parts is always nice.

I'd be too scared to fly a model like that it's too nice to risk having to take it home in pieces.

  • The most impresive model i have seen ,besides Meranda kerr.

  • Great flight and video, sad to hear she is no more.

  • HOLY CRAP you need to hook up with the guy with the giant scale B-29. This is a beautiful 17 and that was a sweet landing.

  • Ever since I was a kid watching 12 o'Clock High on the television, the B17 has been my favorite. This is the nicest model on Youtube and was one beautiful bird. I know you miss her.

  • 12 o'clock high was a fantastic film.

  • Very Sad News.

  • wow sorry to here that, noting worse then loosing your plane because of something you cant control.

It looked nice flu nice and looked like it took you forever to build.

Well good luck with your next one. I like the foam board planes, i have 2 I crashed under my belt now, 1 I have a video of the aftermath it took a beating and was prbably reparable i needed an excuse to build a new one anyway. but the best thing is that the total loss in terms of money $10

post a vid when you get it finished

  • Hi All. sad news. the Tondalayo was lost last month during taking part in the temora Invitational. she developed major flutter during flight which resulted in the right hand stab disintegrating in flight. the end result was confetti.

    i am building another though.

    owner steve thomas

  • @tondalayono1 how much did it to build like , wonderful job , very very nice plane & flight , i wish i got more time to build a plane on my own one day

  • @tondalayono1 Tough break buddy!!!. that thing was a work of engineering ART in scale modeling, what Scale was she in exactly???. i hope u have better luck on the next one,i hear she took u 2 yrs to build, may i ask u how much did she set u back for???.

  • @myleftnutts Thanks mate. She actually took 3000 hours. Hard cost was $35,000.00. As she was the first to fly this size from this plan we have made sum 80 changes to the design to allow for extra strength in the tail section. I am finishing a 245 inch Catalina then I will build Tondalayo no 2.

  • @tondalayono1 Damnnnnnn u are dedicated "35G's"???. they have cars that cost less that. and u can crash and burn and destroy it in a instant!!!. is there such a thing as Model Insurance???. if not somebody needs to come up with it.

  • @tondalayono1 i guess thats what happins when you build a model in memory of a plane that has gone down its destin to follow ... sad to see it gone gj and good luck on the next build

  • @tondalayono1 Any video of that?

  • Dude...that is the best scale B17 I have ever seen...great job in the hard work man! You must be proud!! Boeing should hire you !!

  • its one of the best rc models e eber have seen keep posting vids!

  • very nice.

  • perfect ! does not get any better than this. and nice piloting aswell very scale flight.NICE!!!!

  • Wow what a breathtaking flight! My palms would of been so sweaty i would dropped my radio from the shakes.

  • AWESOMEST EVER!!!

  • not sure as yet. she was going to Temora next week but we had to cancel. i will keep you posted.

    steve

  • You need four smoke systems, for simulating condensation trails.

  • @tisoy909 Wouldn't it be really cool to have a system that puffs rapid sloke from some of the little .50 cals. on that thing ???

  • Good job

  • Great plane!!!!! Saw your plane in different RC magazine.

  • also very good job on the landing

  • would this planes nickname be called the super fortress? or is that a dif model plane?

  • It's the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-29 is the Superfortress

  • Very very nicely done. The plane belongs in a museum! Nice to see it fly though, very nice. You did a great job with the video, by the way, even with the music, it didn't drown out the beautiful sound of the plane. 5*

  • Absolutly Love it! I have chills from this plane!

  • Thanks mate. to see her in the air with all motors howling is awsome. the vid is great but does it no justice.

    steve

  • Excellent work! You mentioned the invitational in Temora in November, do you have any information about that? I would love to come and watch!

What date would this event be on in November?

    Thanks.

  • Excerllent.... is this model built from the Memphis Belle moulds ?

Around 1990 after the Memphis Belle film, a number of 1.6thscale b17 were made.

Aparently, one of the original Memphis Belle models is on display at Gold coast Warner brothers studio Australia.

  • Thanks. the model is built up from a wingspan model plan from the states.

  • Wow even better built from a plan.

    Take a bow Sir...

  • Stunning model, looks as real as they get. Did you know there is a B25 that belongs to the Collins Society named Tondalayo? This one is real, along with B17F "Memphis Belle" and B17G "909".

  • Yeh; i have seen their pics on the web.

  • I hope to build something that big one day

  • Great looking bird. Flying anywhere in NSW anytime soon?

  • She will be back at the Temora invitational in November. other fields are shepperton, Coolum and Evans head in october.

  • question...

    Why the 2-transmitterrs in hand??

Saw in the video at the end???

  • one for all flying surfaces and the other for Bombs, turrets, Bomb Doors, lights and so on.

  • Fantastic!!!!!

  • The nicest,best flying,most scale B-17 I've seen.Sounds beautiful too!Excellent work of art.....PS,Can I fly it...LOL!

  • thanks mate. she is a jem to fly. absolute baby. very kind and for giving. hope to have her in the states for Top Gun in May 09.

    steve
