  • I've see I. King Jordan signing DEAF-CLOSED in documentary 'Children of Silence' Do you have see it? Tony Bloem (handsup@dds.nl)

  • Happy New Year 2011! on a deaf specific dating site Deafornot dot c om, it requires members to disclose their condition upfront

  • Hi, I'd love to understand a bit better what you are talking about. I'm Deaf from the UK, and I sign BSL, and I understand some of your ASL but not fully. I understand you have a transcript on your website / blog. I looked there in the 2007 section but couldn't find the transcript. Could you post a direct link here please? It would help us deaf people from other countries. Many thanks Tomato

  • Avbria makes an excellent point actually. Why is it expected of Deaf to provide CC or subtitles of anything they do, yet, it's not required of hearing. What about other languages?

You may do it, but how many others do not? many. However, now with Google's automatic subtitling, I wonder if it's getting better.

  • nice... when I watched the black&white sign language, it made me so sleepy and relax... Z z Z Z z z

  • The video is available (as a VHS videotape or DVD) at the "SignMedia" website... Click on 'The Catalog', then 'Deaf Culture'... Sign Media is also called SMI... thumbs-up!

  • I understand a little bit, but for the benefit of everyone else, they should have tried to caption or subtitle what is being said.

  • Too much work to add captions. I have provided a transcript on my blogspot. There are so many videos produced by hearing people who don't even bother offer captions so why should we?

  • right on! i may be hearing but i understand what you are saying and if i didn't that would be my fault not yours. it is just as people who add voiced videos into their vlogs and don't add captions. at least you add a transcript. i really appreciate every single video that you post. i have even used your video on douglas craig as reference for a homework on history that i had to do in my Deaf Studies course. i watch you all the time. :] keep doing what you do. you are an inspiration to me. • @avbria

perfect point to tell the world

  • Can someone post up the entire "Preservation of the Sign Language" (that speech only - not the whole film with other stories - just Veditz's speech?) Thanks

  • I started signing in 1978 as a VR Counselor. There has been changes in signs even since. The sign for computer in 1978 was to imitates the reel to reel tapes use in those computers then. Now most people use the sign imitating a Key Board for a computer. At that time the Key Board sign was being used for typing or typewritter (that does not exist any more). Signs will evolve, the same way spoken language evolves in English or Spanish.

  • Wow..258!! I always sign deaf hear-mouth. I think Hear-close is for deaf-orals. Because they are able to speak but cannot hear. Maybe AGB's friends invented it?? ask people of AGB! (Alexander Graham Bell)
