They have a few options to continue the series, they can remake the old Metal Gear games with better graphics(the ones before Metal Gear Solid). They could continue the series with Raiden like in Metal Gear Rising, or they could do a prequel to everything, with The Boss as the main character. Personally I vote for the Prequel. :P

They should leave the series alone now. The more that prequels are done, the more questions are raised and the more plot holes appear.

This was a perfect ending that brought closure. The official series should end.

By all means let Raiden slash things up in a cheesey anime spin-off. But Snake and Big Boss should be left alone now. Peace Walker was amazing (and worthy of being labeled 'MGS5') but the series has had its day. There's no need to milk the cow and sabotage its legacy.

That would be the Holy Grail of MGS IMO. I'd love remakes but Hideo would probably throw a million retcons in there. Big Boss wouldn't be portrayed as the villain of the old games like he once was, which would change the original story completely. Regardless, it would be awesome to see.

Agreed, thanks, DeltaForce. Good story; convoluted as fuck, and probably too so for its own good, and yet, so, so many great set-pieces and storytelling moments. Definitely great that you can get weepy-eyed at some 3D models. I do think this series had a tendency to over explain, and over-inflate, its own mythos, but otherwise...

I believe that MGS is the most emotionally connecting series in gaming history. I bet almost everyone who sad this shed a tear. Big Boss and Solid Snake, the two most Iconic figures in gaming.

MGS taught me a lot of things about life, technology, values, ideals and so much more. But in this, it taught me to accept that ageing is a natural process of life, and eventually, so is death. We always see heroes around, but the thing about heroes is they never show us that they die too, just like us. We are all the same and going in the same direction, so death isn't as daunting when we realise that everything dies. Like growing up, its just another path we all take. Together.

There's been a lot of debate on whether video games are art. Some think because of interactivity the artists message can never be heard. These are the games I would show them to prove them wrong. @opethdtr Retcons (what the hell happened to all of Vamp's powers), poor character development (ninja Raiden, Zero etc), cop outs (Vamp's immortality being explained by nanomachines, Liquid Ocelot not being Liquid possessing Ocelot, Raiden's son being alive etc.), just overall bad writing ("IT EVEN RAINED ON THE DAY I WAS BORN!", "Otacon, why don't you jump off the ship with me?"), and not enough gameplay/lost charm that the other games had is what's keeping this game back.

But I still like it.
