They were more brutal. Instead of just jumping on top of the marines and just ass raping them they held them down and stabbed repeatedly with their claws.
Man....even to this day I still wonder why that second zergling just stood still and looked at that marine instead of leaping on him...lucky for that marine he did huh. Maybe that zergling knew he placed fear into him and just wanted to terrify him before he did anything
It was a Dominion colony that the UED had "unleashed" the Zerg upon. Chances are that since it was a colony, and that guy asking about where the air support was didn't seem to question who the owner of the Battlecruiser was, that it was one of the fringe colonies. It's not that Mengsk abandoned it, it's that he didn't have much of a real presence there (militarily). The guys in red were either retired Dominion soldiers or some of the only troops he had there. Still, the UED did somn really sick.
Even things as simple as using cut-scenes to change someone's opinion of a character, and then twisting it to make them look different- Admiral DuGalle first appears evil by abandoning the troops (even though they were not his) gives you the perception that he is an "evil" character.
But later scenes reverse that so he seems more "good". That very idea of altering the character like that is one of the game's greatest plot elements.
@KORHALE I agree, I think both Stukov and Dugalle are deliberately cast as the opening villains here so that it comes as a surprise later on (when the player actually controls UED) that they both have integrity and aren't completely bad. They are fairly ruthless though but that's why the UED has put them in charge of it's taskforce.
no the marines weren't UED, they had red suits {meaning they SHOULD be dominion for the books say dominion is the color of red} ( the firebat and the guy screaming) but i think the guy just sitting is a local, so my guess its a overrun dominion colony that Mengsk just left to die.
haha, work what ever u want, but always be the in a higher rank, specially in the army...poor marines...it should be pretty to use a wraith XD air unit, can atack air and ground, fast movement and can get invisible a nice aircraft and maybe even better than a Battle Cruiser XD
Blizzard composed the whole thing, but you can only really hear part of it. Just search "Brood War Intro Music" here and you can find the entire thing.
@IronHyena I'm two years late, but I hope this helps. It was a collaboration between Blizz maestros Glenn Stafford and Jason Hayes. It's called the Brood War Aria, although it's often referred to as Morituri Te Salutant for the recognized first line in Latin. Hayes provided the French lyrics and a translation on his website, but since Mr. Stafford isn't online, we only have poorly transcribed and translated Latin lyrics. :( It's heard again in 'I, Mengsk' in the Starcraft II soundtrack.
Even when I was younger the sight of the Battlecruiser leaving the planet with those guys still in the trenches hurt. I just didn't realize until now that Dugalle was the guy giving the order to ditch them.

Something about it just screamed that it was a real opera song. And I don't have the soundtrack.
Zeracan 2 years ago
it is a real opera song. its just composed by some ppl at blizzard. who also did an excellent job on the rest of the soundtrack
nitrofish8908 2 years ago
Yeah, those Blizzard composers are amazing.

Strange, the UED made english the only language on earth and banned all other languages, but they still have accents.
517342 2 years ago 2
Peoples families probably taught other languages illegally. More as tradition then anything else.

WHERE IS THE AIR SUPPORT!? *points up*

Does anyone know if the last bit of music at the end is from an opera or something?
I'd love to have/hear the whole thing, but I have a sneaking suspiscion that it is just musical fluff created just for the vid.
If any one could clue me in on it I'd be real grateful.

They make you hate Dugalle from the very beginning, but by the end of the game, you kinda feel sorry for him.

whoa im the first to comment, so are the marines on the ground UED?, or where Dugal and Stukov observing a Terran Dominion battle against the Zerg?
sevensice 3 years ago
UED. Dugal wouldn't bother giving air support to Dominion marines. Then again, he doesn't seem to have a problem with leaving his own men to die.
messiahofsin 3 years ago
Since the battle cruiser was "air support" (or supposed to be), my guess would be UED.
