  • I need someone to make a video on jow

  • Yes common very problem we have the same issue think it may be water pump nd squeals but dk

  • This happened to me after I put DexCool AntiFreeze which is for GM vehicles instead of a regular antifreeze. And it immediately started to leak. Two days ago with regular everything was OK. Does Saturns use DexCool or just regular antifreeze is ok?

  • Exact same issue 2002 Saturn SC2 DOHC. Service engine light on yesterday. Coolant level light off and on today. Added coolant because level was a little low, drove it about 10 miles round trip, parked it, moved it about 30 min later and coolant puddle under passenger side front wheel area. I am hoping that it is the water pump and not something worse. Thanks for the video! Awesome.

  • That nothing, you should see my Jeep ZJ leak it life away. I got to replace mine soon.

  • dude, this is the exact same problem i'm having right now, and i have a saturn as well, so thanks for posting this--i'm going to zero in on the water pump and see if that solves the issue.

  • @joeyrsl No problem. I hope you find out what it is soon... When you find out what it is let us know. Maybe we here can help you out if you need it of course).

  • Did you check the water pump? It should be located at the side you said that coolant was leaking.

  • @CCAAASSSCCAAAA hey if u need a scan it tool u can get ur own @ CarMD.com. its the same tool(obd2) but way cheaper. i think its like 3 payments of $30. check out the sight.

  • @CCAAASSSCCAAAA is our car front wheel drive?

  • wht size bolts u need to remove the pump?

  • do a pressure test on the cooling system you need a pressure tester hook it up to the raditor and block the reutrn line with a vise pilliars pump it to the psi listed on the raditor cap about 16psi then look for the leak. make sure everthing is dry first then do the test. should beable to pinpoint where its coming from looks like the water pump to me. i had the same problem but mine was the raditor

  • im having the same problem i removed a bad thermostat and now i have water coming out from some place i cant figure it out

  • Water pump ....

  • hey good vid i got a 98 saturn too but mine has alot of problems thermestat leakin about were urs does and missfirin problems

  • Hi!

Thank you so much for taking the time and answering my questions!

  • Hello!

But it looks like you have same car as mine. I have Saturn 98 SL2. What was yours?

    Thank you.

  • @nailya75

we basically do. I have a single cam motor though and you have a dual cam. the water pump is in the same place in both cars. The person who I said made a video on replacing the water pump has a 98 dual cam Saturn as well (hence the reason why I told you to search through his stuff).

    ;)

  • seeeerrriooouussslllyy. After doing some research on some forums I've noticed that everything you is a common problem with these cars. Thankfully they are pretty easy to work on and the price of parts are reasonable. Since I've gotten the car (at the very end of Jan) I've changed in order 1.) Oil + filter 2.) Spark Plugs 3.) PCV Valve 4.) Radiator Fan 5.) Coolant Temp Sensor 6.) Thermostat 7.) Water Pump 8.) Tranny Oil & Filter 9.) Fuel Filter 10.) Plug Wires 11.) Ignition Coil 12.) Radiator

First of all thank you so much for putting this video. I have exact same problem. The auto shop gave a price of 250$. But you told me that you were able to schaing water pump yourself. The person in the shop scarred me telling that Saturn's 98 water pump might be driven by timing chain not by a belt. He told that if it is driven by timing chain then it will be a head ache to replace the water pump by myself.

  • @nailya75

No problem. The person at the shop would have been correct if the pump was driven by the timing chain. If that were the case I wouldn't have even considered doing it myself.

  • These seem to be notorious for leaking. It was the gasket on the 99 SW2 I replaced, but new water pump to replace it and I used RTV Red hi temp silicone gasket, replaced thermostat, both hoses, leaking radiator and dead coolant fan motor, PLUS replaced trans filter and fluid.

  • It was the water pump. I changed it Friday night and the problem went away.

I got the part from Autozone for $32.99. The part# is AWP-844. HAPPY WRENCHING !

  • @CCAAASSSCCAAAA

If you have time may you can write what book should I buy since I don't have any about Saturn SL 2 1998. I wish you would have the video of how you replaced you water pump.

    Thanks again.

  • @nailya75

I can't write a book but I can give you some advice on where you can find a video. Search for the user richpin06a, then when you're on his page search click "see all" to see his video uploads, then search water pump. It'll show you how to remove it without power tools (impact wrench). I didn't use this technique to the T but it definitely showed me how easy it can be and a good place to start my project.

I hoped this helped, HAPPY WRENCHING!
