I was actually considering buying one of your DVDs until I saw this. If you can't transcribe something fairly easy like the intro riff correctly, what hope is there for the solos?

It's obvious just from listening to the record that the first part of the intro doesn't have any open Es, It's the main riff played entirely one octave up. It's also evident that Dime played it on the 3rd, 4th and 5th strings - you can easily hear the difference in timbre from the way you're playing it.

@10Dante4 He's a much better player than I am, which is why it's obvious that he wasn't trying his best to sound like Dime.

I wouldn't mind, but they are actually trying to sell this video to people who want to play like Dime, so he could at least transcribe it properly. It's not a difficult riff to figure out, and anyone who's played for a couple of years should be able to hear the difference between picked notes, slides, bends and hammer-ons, as well as the different timbres of each string.

I have seen Dime play this live with the accompaniment of the pedal tone E note and the effect under it. He does play it in seventh position but he does have the luxury of the effect under it. I am getting ready to learn this for my band where I am the only guitar player and I am going to do it this way so that I can keep that pedal tone going and not have it sound like I am playing by myself. Maybe it's just me but the way it's shown in this video seems logical for a single guitar player band?

There is alot of stuff from this that's played in the wrong positions but the notes are right so don't worry to much (THIS IS STILL AN AMAZING DVD). just take a look at what dime does then just move the position... not that hard really.
