@RileySkye100 it's not extremely complicated, the biggest issue is getting used to the elasticity of the band connecting the two characters. Basically, a button press will make your partner hold his place. the same button will have your character pick the partner up and carry him if they are, so to speak, overlapping in the game. The Rest is just using the physics to your advantage, or in many cases, disadvantage. Still, I love the game. Maybe more than Sonic2 (which is my least fav classic btw)

I like mentioning this game to 2D puritans who hate on the 3D games, using "there's too many fucking new characters like Vector and Espio" as their reason, only to shoot them down by saying they came from the 2D games they love so much.

@SacredBlackKnight Yeah but they appeared in spinoffs not main titles and you weren't forced to play the whole game through with the minor characters. In the main series (1 - 3, Sonic CD & Sonic Knuckles) there was only Sonic, Tails, Robotnik, Knuckles and Amy. And the plethora of rubbish new characters was far from the only thing wrong with the new games, it's not like it's just Sonic fanboys they get slaughtered in the reviews.

@StephenAlexWalker True enough, but I'd rather criticize the controls, camera, mechanics, physics, and voice acting over anything.. On that note, I never considered anything beyond Adventure 2 as a main title. The others just didn't do it for me lol.

@SacredBlackKnight I agree actually whilst the terrible characters were annoying the controls/camera/mechanics/phys­ics were all game breaking aspects especially when it wasn't just one of those things but all if them in the same game. The voice acting was cringe worthy especially for those of us who grew up with a silent Sonic. Oh and Adventure was definitely the end of the main titles nothing after that was worthy.

@StephenAlexWalker Another thing people criticize is that the new games don't have the simple layout like Green Hill's checkered rocks. They liked that Heroes brought it back.

But Sonic 3 & Knuckles also didn't have that layout. Angel Island and Green Hill/Emerald Hill look much different. Angel Island's scenery looks realistic, but people still love it. Hell I still can't get enough of it, but I recognize they made it look more real than Sonic 1 and 2. Scenery-wise, it reminds me of a 2D SA2.
