-Tatra patented the central backbone chassis in 1923, used in the beetle
-about 20 different smaller manufacturers all over Europe built prototypes in the 30's but were restricted by Tatra patents so none were produced in series.
-Hitler was ambitious and didnt give a damn about any patents, and ordered Ferdinand Porsche, (a clueless Hitler admirer) to build this car everybody in Europe has been thinking of.
-Nazi propaganda spinned the idea that this was solely a Hitler achievement.
Ferdinand Porsche did NOT design the VW. Credit goes to Joseph Ganz, a JEW.
Hitler found out Ganz was a jew, took his plans and gave them to Dr.Porsche. Ganz managed to escape to Switzerland
