  • Elvis is the greatest ever...but it didn't seem like he even learned this song. lame.

  • simply, the best ever...

  • funny thing about the King. he knew our hurt(just like our heavenly father). his music reflected that toward the end. i want all viewers to listen to elvis records during the 73-77 era. he knew what was right and wrong...and he sang about it. if he could say anything today i think it would be ...treat ur wife right..take care of your kids....help those less fortunate...basically Elvis was preachinn the gospel at the end...

  • Elvis is gone, but he is still with us.

    He will never go away.

    He is that good.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I coudnt agree more. When Elvis died I felt like I had lost my best friend. He had the kind of relationship with his fans that todays so called entertainers couldnt begin to imagine much less ever achieve. When he died I think a little bit of all of us died with him. When I heard the news I threw a tennis racket through my bedroom window. I was 17 at the time and was blessed enough to have seen him live in March of 74.One of his best tours ever. We love you E. and miss you more than words can say

  • Thanks for reminding me what a fantastic singer Elvis Presley was! Truely one of the greats! That's why he sold more records than any singer male or female EVER! Yes , he was handsome but it was his talent that sold those reocords! I so wish he had lived a full life , he died way too soon. But he left this wonderful legacy

  • superbe chanson.......pour le " King " ....

  • @MultiRushfan wow what a condemnation for such a talented man. why in the world would you call him a rapist? Horrible! maybe you are just a mean vicious person who likes to trash people. I have to assume you are a major looser and a very jealous person, the world is better without your type.

  • @MultiRushfan You're absolutely right-Elvis didn't like being called the King as he stated in one of his concert performances there is only one king and that is Jesus Christ but people continue to call him king. He is king of music but not my Lord and Savior. Elvis did have alot of character defects as WE all do. I seriously doubt EP ever raped anyone -Priscilla was a 14 year old volunteer. My great grandmother was married at the age of 14.

  • The bass...marvelous!!!

  • The little boy shown kicking Elvis is Kurt Russel, who played Elvis years latter in a made for TV movie.

  • RIP Elvis!!!!!!!

  • WTF? No pills? LOL

  • Elvis, was, is and will remain a great human bean, not only the best entertainer of the century and the all time. GOD bless him for ever.

  • @mamushk9love152 a human bean lawl

  • You can't say anything bad about a human put on this earth for the sole purpose of being praised. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can fill the shoes Elvis wore.

  • he was such a good man cared about people it shows, i want to aspire to be like him and all his fans will see him again 1 by 1 as death claims them they will see elvis again!!!!!

  • God How i Miss That voice and That man Just Wish we got see Elvis again. Charlie Rich had a hit of that song Willie had a Hit of Elvis Song Blue eyes crying in the Rain Just Like Johnny Harra The twin to Elvis .

  • what A precious video.. loved IT!

  • excellent aways gets my lady to smile ,her favourite elvis song

  • When I hear Elvis do this song I have to wonder about Charley Hodge I would daresay that of all the friends Elvis had Charley was the best one he had after Charley came JD Summner. I happen to know a few things about Elvis and those two men got more respect from Elvis then any of the rest. There were others who just hung on ELVIS coattails few and far between are REAL FRIENDS. Great videos Thanks for having all you have so we can keep his memory alive. Hugs Bobbie

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SONG

  • probably this version may excel the original version by the composer Danny O'keefe.

one of his best vocal rendition and shows how great his singing ability was. we can only miss him. I call his singing sublime.

  • Thank you for posting this excellent song. It saddens me, both as an Elvis Fan and as someone who has been fortunate enough not only to have seen Elvis Live countless times but has been collecting "anything/everything Elvis" for 5 decades, to see people post comments about "Elvis & pills". on YouTube. Only those who were not alive during the 1970s could critique the NEGATIVITY surrounding Entertainers rumored to abuse pills. Elvis had MAJOR medical problems & a broken heart and gave his all.

  • ming746. On here we appreciate the music, life and times of all that was and is Elvis Presley. YOU have a problem with pills. YOU deal your PROBLEM. Like all addicts' you seek solace. Do not try to bury your personal failings in his pain. I can gurantee you, you could not walk a mile in his shoes.

  • i just this song by elvis thanks

  • i love this song

    i love the king

  • blaudrap, This is only one version of the song, i heard him, sing it with all the verse, and my point was that some of the memphis mafia guys were not all of real friends but there for the 15 min of glory and for the rest i think is Elvis personnal life and i do love the singer, for his voice and his showman side...

  • ´Beautiful elvis, love u so much, u r the ONE AND ONLY KING FOREVER, and im only 17, but u r the best! hate the modern music, its not even hard to sing anymore, u dont have to be talented anymore, cause they just use computers to make the voice's-. hate it,

BUT THERES NO ONE LIKE U ELVIS, U R THE BEST! <3

  • I agree with ming746, but u have also to consider what some of the memphis mafia guys wrote about Elvis, not all the truth, some of those guys were mad at Elvis for letting them go in the late 75-76, so i would refer you to the book me and a guy name Elvis..

  • @67Angel15 Have you noticed that Elvis doesn`t sing the verse of the song that refers to pill taking? Maybe a bit of self denial, guilt etc?

  • can anybody sing as good as this man ??? dont think so

  • @alimac42 I think his voice is unbeatable. He was a talent in the true sense of the word.

  • is there a bad version of thise song? i mean, Elvis, waylon, willie, and so many others. this song has been shared by the greatest and i love every version.

  • what a great singer we have lost

  • @1950therichard wee dinn.t loose him .......hes in ourt heart always tcb my friend

  • I LOVE ELVIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey P.L., great video, love this song! Video is very well produced. There are photos I have never seen. Fantastic effort. I hope we can share alot of music this year. Welcome aboard our little "Time Machine". Pls "Flashback" with me to other great times in music! I'm listening...The Captain...

  • Every "king" fan knows that quiet moment when it's seems like it's only you and king are sharing it! Every time I hear his songs it's like I'm listening to my closest friend not an entertainer. Just loved the guy! If giving happiness in this life counts when you get to the "pearly gates", I'm certain they swung wide open to give Elvis his rightful heavenly reward. God bless you Elvis!

  • @kenelvpres what a great comment, couldnt have said it any better, wished though he would still be singing to us. . .

  • @kenelvpres Forgive me if I disagree with you but I do. Yes the reason he had to take meds were because he was human and he was in a lot of pain. I was a singer and his corneas were burned and scarred from the lights . when you are on stage you can't see anything but the lights and they are blazing hot. They destroy the corneas and Glaucoma is a blinding headach all the time and the many moves he made and the pain he went thru to do a show was enough to feel every joint in your body was broken.

  • @1943AngelEyes Amen ! To quote Elvis;"If you ain't walked in that man's shoes, don't criticize". Elvis also suffered from acute insomnia all his life. Anxiety and in later life depression. Makes me sick when we praise Lindsay Lohan (ugh!) or Britney Spears for their accomplishments and pat them on their back for drug taking for the simple thrill.Elvis was human and to do what he did and still be made fun of, makes mewant to take the fool's outside and beat them senseless.

  • @kenelvpres that's the beauty of music. i don't know much about religion but that feeling you get when you listen is it if you ask me.

  • @kenelvpres i know they did. (pearly gates) i second ur statement. i agree 100 percent.

  • Thanks for the nice pics!

  • love your uploads "purlistener" you have done one more time an excellent job. thanks for sharing

  • Great song and is that James burton on guitar? classic.

  • JUST A ANOTHER GREAT SONG BY THE KING

  • This was my dad's favorite Elvis song. Memories of our listening to this together are very clear. I miss you dad.

  • @sheephider82 my dad's fave too...brings back some good memories. RIP Daddy

  • @carpetlady1980

That's so cool to hear! Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate. This is definitely a "dad" song! Take care.

  • one of my faves by elvis

  • I like Elvis's version of this song. If only he had really paid attention to the words in this song and some of the others ones that more or less pointed out things in his own life.

  • yeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh !!!

  • Look,ott van Kurt Russell :-)))

  • Na me`g ezt,azt` alszunk.0:54-0:59 kozt nagyon szeretem!Csak ezen re`sz miatt elenekelnem ezt a dalt ;-))

  • Another reason why Elvis will always be the best.

  • I saw an interview years ago where Priscilla was asked about Elvis's favorite music and she responded Elvis's greatest love was country music. I think this proves it. Thanks Elvis..

  • he did this song justice

  • Telling that the stanza about the pills easing the pain ain't in this rendition. Great version nonetheless.

  • Neil Sedaka is the King of Rock!

  • @misterb0071 LOL neil sedaka?! hahahah

  • Magnifique.....

  • hey !! ming746 !! yes you are right !! but there is more to it then we all know !!

  • Lonnie used to play this song all the time.... wow... bringing back the memories... RIP Lonnie, I miss u....

  • Elvis Is so Good I almost cries when I hear the best songs like this, You're the King and always going to be!! <3<3<3<333 I Love you <3<3<3

  • nice song!

  • this is beautiful.....thanks for sharing....

  • Elvis Presley was great singer. One thing i like about him was all the kinds of music that he did. From Gospel to Rock to Country ,and those great loves song,s . Rip in Elvis. Thank you for this song .

  • Beautiful

  • Elvis was singing his life story - play to long you'll lose your wife, play to long you'll lose your life.. very sad to me. He had the voice with or without the pills.

  • @dawnjakeleah you are rite son!!

  • What ever Elvis did or took (drugs) I will always love him. No one will even come close to that voice and looks, humor. - he had it all. Such a waste.

  • Vraiment très fort! Une interprétation toute en retenue ...tout est juste...

  • I don't think Dolly was referring to the Colonel. SHe said it was Elvis that called her. I am sure the colonel was behind it - the money grubber himself. Got 50 percent. Back then, if Elvis had recorded it, it would have made it big, but Dolly just told him, I am sorry, but I don't share my song writing with anyone. That's just the way I am. I believe her - she doesn't lie.

  • @dawnjakeleah

Too bad for Dolly. She could've had one of her songs sung by the King!

  • Dolly said ELvis himself called her and asked to record I will always love you. Not ole Colonel. Dolly was very polite, but firm. She said. I don't share my song writings with anyone - that's just the way I am. Yrs later it won big time when Whitney Houston sang it in the Bodyguard. Dolly said it made so much money, she built Dollywood. I believe her - she doesn't lie.

  • @dawnjakeleah

Man, even yet another screw-up for the sellf-serving Colonel!

  • To buny - Dolly told the story about Elvis calling her and asking to record her song and she said no to him. She added, later, when Whitney made the movie with Kevin Coster. that the profit she made from that little bitty song gave her the money to make Dollywood. I should have been a song writer. ha ha I can't put two words together, much let alone, put them to music.

  • Elvis could sing anything .. country ..western.. Gospel..rock..and roll..blues..and soul the man had it all...a truely gifted man of God..shame he let the " midnight rider" get to him ..but he will sure " run on for a long time..." rest in eternal peace Elvis..GBU.

  • This is a lovely song from The King, and I liked the video and images very well. Great video - thumb up! - Eddie

  • Loved it Thumbs up

  • blues for happy guys

  • nobody sings like the king !

  • I would like to reply to you lady or man whichever you may be ELVIS never STOLE anything in his life people were happy to have him do his songs after all they were paid royalties from every time the song was done so what did they lose. Not a dime check it out. See if the liscensing laws don't tell you that. DUH don't bother sending me another song I have plenty don't need anyone to call ELVIS a thief not on my watch you don't. Bobbie is the name

  • @1943AngelEyes Dolly Parton talked about how she had a song that elvis wanted to do. But, and here's the kicker, he wanted credit for writing it. Not total credit, but a co-writer credit. Well, Dolly said, "No." So, Elvis didn't do the song. Years later, Whitney Houston did the song, and Dolly made a mint . He is a singer. Nothing more. Harry Chapin sucks as a singer. But he was an artist. I would give my left nut to see him in concert. Elvis? i'll just by the cd.

  • @buny101 I believe she was referring to Colonel Tom Parker - Elvis' manager.

  • @haileyalexis709 well, dawnjakeleah heard the same story, so i don't know...would be weird we had both heard the same story. But, that is what rumors are, i guess.

  • Is he covering this, because I thought this was by Danny O'Keefe.

  • he was and stil is the best in this kind of music just only the emotional voice... i dont even have words for it, there wil never be a greater singer than he he sings even more beautifull that the angels that are waiting to greet us at the heaven's port.

elvis presley the king 4 ever!

  • elvis will live in the hearts of his fans forever

  • magic artist

  • this is in my playlist, why only this song is stopping all the time??

  • I agree. This is a down period artistically but there's some beauty in this album in his sadness.

  • the man is magic that how i describe elvis magic!!!!

  • ''magic'' REALLY? LOL

  • nothing against elvis but I like Jerry Lee Lewis's cover of this song better. Just my opinion but i prefer it.

  • it isa danny o'keefe song..

  • He can anything and usually better than the original.

  • Yes,He was a gift like Chet A. and He made the world a better place with His gift.

  • Is that the best? That's the best.

  • I don't know why but when I'm feeling tired all I need is to listen to Elvis and get my energy instantly...!!!!

  • oh realy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn.... I been listening to this for years on my local old classic Country station.... I decided to look it up because I havent heard it in a while. Never knew it was Elvis, Going to have to look and see if he made more songs like this one.

  • play around you lose your wife, play too long you lose your life...

  • fav elvis song

  • im 22 and this is a really nice song....but never heard before...were do this song come from? i dont see them on CDs only on youtube!

  • @comeongetreal100 charlie rich

  • @comeongetreal100 for the good times cd.

  • this sessio did take way too long because elvis was in a bad mood concerning the deal colonel parker had made with rca to buy the backlogue for 5.4 million dollars andthen elvis got sick 10-73. it wasnt until 12-73 that he finished with stax. cstanchik

  • cool

  • this was from the 73 stax sessions. it took way too long to finish because either elvis was sick or in a bad mood. good stuff. cstanchik

  • really??

  • " I got some pills to ease my pain" What happened to that line? I guess it was just to close to home.

  • don't we all!

  • he's the king!

  • great song. suits elvis' voice. nice.

  • This song has DEEP emotional feelings for me. One of my favorite Elvis song's.

  • This is one of my favorite songs Elvisa Presleya

  • i love this song, elvis always makes you feel better when you are feeling down.

  • people say to me whats your fav el song .i say this song ...reply dont know it ..people think el just sung hound dog /j/house/rock /blue/s/shoes/fever/and so on...this man is ........the man

  • @alhenrymc Elvis did so many amazing songs, my favorites change so often. For week's it'll be this one. Then it'll be Tomorrow Never Comes. Do you Know Who I Am. Long Black Limo. Green Green Grass. No More. Such A Night. Just For Ol' Time's Sake. Love Letters. Heart of Rome. I could keep going. He did a bunch, and he did a bunch great, and as much credit as he got for his hits, he didn't get enough for these.

  • dont care about the pills or any bad thing he did! No one sang like the king!

  • Elvis Presley...the best...he could steal my heart away in a minute...

  • One of my favorite songs....

  • real jackass for dissen on the KIng. I am sure you are perfect. So you don't have any thing to worry about.

  • clown,,,,,

  • Elvis was the best at everything he sung! I also really like Waylon Jennings version of this song

  • .. WOW!

  • Very beautiful..!!

  • Funny how The Kings version leaves out the ;yrics "I got my pills to ease the pain" Wonder if he left that out on purpose because of his own pill addiction?

  • your right i never notice that.

  • That's what many people assume, and it sure seems very telling that he did. So sad.

  • It certainly would seem so

  • @ming746 He left some lyrics out of several songs he covered. He sure as hell didn't have a problem singing about breakups after he split with 'Cilla.

  • I am as big an elvis fan as anyone but I dont hide the fact that he was in complete denial he had a pill problem. any of the books writen by the memphis mafia says that. I have struggled with pain pills my self and once you have them its hard to live with out it. Its like living on cloud 9 for a yr and then trying to live normal. The king was only human.

  • @ming746 You may be right about Elvis being in complete denial of having a pill problem. If you are right about that, then why wouldn't he sing the verse? Would a person in complete denial of a problem avoid such a verse? I doubt he cut out one line of one verse because of his drug problem anymore just like I doubt he cut out verses of other songs because of their personal meanings to him. But I definitely understand "how it looks".

  • Hey, good luck!

  • @ming746 So true, and back then they didn't have the help they have now.

  • @ming746 why do you read all that garbage after all these years don't you know by now the dead need to REST IN PEACE. Judge not lest ye be judged and that goes for me too. Sorry if I have offended anyone but its all garbage even the ones written by his so called wife. Bobbie

  • @ming746 finally someone else in the real world.Elvis was truly the most powerful entertainer of them all, only he was not strong enough to stop the hurt he brought on himself,so sad.We miss you Elvis.

  • @ming746

Elvis is hands down the best singer and entertainer the world has ever seen. Through his music and his performances, he has given--and continues to give-- an overwhelming amount of fun, joy, solace, and so many heartfelt, uplifting songs.

He was more generous than any other artist of his day---and maybe even to this day. When Elvis did benefit performances for charitable and medical research orginizations--the amounts of money he raised for these were always staggering.

  • @sweetysue10 great comment

  • @ming746

The idea I was setting forth in my earlier post is that Elvis did much, much, much good around the world for so many millions of people. So, about the drug business, I think we all could just forgive and forget about it. Consider that the only bad he did, he did only to himself. The entertainment scene is pure stress, and so many artists end up getting hooked. I believe that Elvis withstood it the longest---look how long his drug-free career lasted. So---here's to the KING :-)

  • @ming746 so sad isnt it, were where all those hangers on when he needed them most. . . .

  • The comeback special was in 1968 - not 69.

  • great man appreciate him for he also loving and good.

  • Elvis made any song his that is why he is an Icon! He had the voice and the Charisma . watch the 69 comeback special and you will see what legends are made of.

  • I wonder if Elvis even understand what an amazing gift he had,he could take a bad song and make great and he could take a great song and make it awesome. he pretty much left the rest of us mere mortals grovelling in the dirt praying for just a glimpse of the genius he was capable of creating. at his worst his was great, at his best he was beyond discription. im not a particularly religious man, but I do believe his voice was a gift from the gods.

  • I hope you don't mean to say this song was a bad one. Because i happen to think this song is a fantastic song if sung by O'Keefe or Elvis. Regardless, you are quite right about Elvis' vocal talent.

  • My comment was not meant as criticism of this song.I love this song, (I kinda relate to it) this is a great song and could make a lousy singer sound good. my comment was more about Elvis, mixing a great song with an amazing singer and your left with magic.

  • Wonderf ul sound sung by a great singer!

  • great cover by the king

  • I don't know if someone has commented it before, but at 01:49 we can see a boy kicking Elvis's leg. This boy, few years later, lived Elvis Presley in a movie; his name is Kurt Russel. Great actor.

  • I have listened to this song dozens of times and did not notice that. Cool. I love this song even if he did change some of the words.. He just put such heart into his music.

  • Elvis could take any song and make it his. Quite a man!!!

  • aqqa

  • Theres always another song I have not heard by the King in a way its great fore its like a new release thanks for the post.

  • I agree

  • Great version, Classic 70`s Elvis. Nice Video as well.
