the fucked up thing is that they will govern every site around the world. This is not right. Okay, i understand the need for copyright because then artists, musicians and authors wouldn't make any money because people could just steal their ideas. But this is getting ridiculous, it's called freedom of speech and fair use!
@purpleshamrock17 they don't make money, because the recording company thats all of it if not makes them pay to "record" it.
If an artist sells 1 millions copies they usually only get about 100k-200k for it they get most of there money from live concerts, items and stuff like that.

Hmmm, I don't like what they are trying to do with the blacklist, but i think they could go about it in a better way. We all know sites like PIRATEBAY and they make ad revenue off of other peoples work, without contributing to the creators of what is shared. I think if sites like that would just set up a donation system to be givin to the movies games and music creators it would be a great thing, for this economy and the people that are doing all this work we enjoy. We want entertainment. right?
@jcshelfw1 Sure, donations for the authors sounds great, but I doubt Sony, FOX, Time Warner, Netflix, etc, etc, will settle for a system based on donations . . . they've got new yachts and private jets to buy!
Leave the internet the way it is, It is entirely impossible to enforce copyright infringement, It will always happen, there is NO way of stopping it. As most wont even listen to the law and still continue to do their acts. YOU CANNOT STOP PIRACY. End of story.
Lawmakers will vote for anything their owners want them to pass aka whatever corporation paid for their campaigns.
Some people are paranoid about the government and government here and that but that's short sighted it's corporations you have to worry about cuz they own governments.
@mujdin91 I dont even live in america. But my servers are hosted there and my VPN is too, but it is fun to watch all this bullshit, from a country that just trys to do what ever they can to limit their citizens in every way, even a child cant make their own decisions.
When the government starts censors ANYTHING red flags should go up in the public. It's time for the american people to STAND up and fight for our rights. Its time for Us the ACTUAL people of the USA to stand up together not under a party but as US citizens. Stand up to fight for our rights people!
What? Seriously? What? Our government needs some massive revamping. This is the not the way to stop pirating. This is the way to control the masses. Come on people.
Things like this video would probably be subject to being "blocked" from us in the future if this bill is passed, WAKE UP PEOPLE, If we want freedom, you have to constantly face those who will inevitably try to control what you know. If this bill is passed it is because we let it happen.
@blasphemator That is so true. I don't understand the need for the bill either. Any power that is given to the government will eventually be abused... We the people allowed the government to have the power that they have now...
Piracy will prevail. In about 10-20 years, it won't even be called piracy. It will be known as "the great copyright revolution war", something which will be studied in schools, movies will be made about it, books will be written about it (they already are). Open Internet and the Elimination of Oppressive Copyright Tyranny is clearly the future. The business factor will slowly disappear from art, after direct donations to artists (like flattr) will become the standard. It's just a matter of time.
@cosmingurau I think it will be known as "cost-free distribution"... Instilling the idea that this is a war between the American entertainment industry, and the rest of the world, is wrong in my opinion, because they will be encouraged to win the "war" through the use of their resources (moolah), instead of attempting to embrace the BT protocol and other forms of lire distribution (like Creative Commons productions such as Pioneer One have done).
@BurritoBazooka They won't win the war. It may take some time and a lot of victims, but they won't win it. Google seems to be on our side... but even without Google we will win.
@ColtonOweekly Not copyright per se, the notion of being recognized as the author of a certain thing is of course necessary and downright normal. We have creative commons for that. But unfortunately, copyright is just the excuse the media conglomerates pull in order for them to wage wars on their consumers, in order to strip them of their last penny. Copyright is a sword with two blades.
I don't think I'd go so far as to call it a war to strip us of money. The majority of consumers wouldn't go broke if suddenly breaking copyright was a physical impossibility - the majority of people don't make their incomes from selling things someone else made.
But you are right on it being a double-edged sword, everything is really.
@cosmingurau Let's hope so, my friend. I've always thought that we are living in the golden age of the internet right now. We are in the "Wild west" period so to speak. Laws are loose and users are free to do mostly what they want. Eventually it will be locked down with progressing monitoring technology and the internet will no longer be a free place.
@Lunarmemory You are right by saying we are in the wild west period of the Internet. Nice way to put it. But I don't think that it will be progressively locked down. No doubt a lot of fat cats will try to. But apart from the fact that we the majority, especially all the new generations, are already way too accustomed to the "free" system, and would fight to protect it, there are also some OTHER fat cats who want Internet to stay free. As I said, Google has build an empire on this idea.
I understand blocking torrent sites that are illegal, sites that have full footage of movies that are still in theaters, and even user posted videos on youtube that contain full footage of a movie... not everything...
Senator Patrick Leahy is 71 years old. Does this surprise anyone at all? Older people have literally zero clue how the Internet works. It also explains why Anna Eshoo (68) thought this bill was about immigration.
Not saying old people are bad, but like the guy who called it a "series of tubes" they shouldn't be deciding how to regulate something when they don't even understand it.
On June 6, 2010, Saeed had been sitting on the second floor of a cybercafe. Two detectives from the Sidi Gaber police station entered the premises and arrested him. Multiple witnesses testified that Saeed was beaten to death by the police, who reportedly hit him and smashed him against objects as he was led outside to their police car. Go to wikipedia and read about him!
If you don't think the Internet is a political toy for anti-democratic governments like the Bush-Cheney administration or the Mubarak administration in Egypt, then you don't know about the young Khaled Saeed, whose death served as a rallying point for Egypt's 25 January revolution, was murdered, according to a new medical report. Saeed was killed and then a packet of marijuana was inserted into his throat, according to the report by Egypt's chief medical examiner, Ayman Fouda.
@antonscottgoustin Really, Bush-Cheney? We're gonna make that connection? A lot of crazy shit happens in this world, but you need to stop blaming every last thing on Bush and Cheney. They aren't exactly Satan and his trusty demon you know.
@antonscottgoustin Really, Bush-Cheney? We're gonna make that connection? A lot of crazy shit happens in this world, but you need to stop blaming every last thing on Bush and Cheney. They aren't exactly Satan and his trusty demon you know.
USA government cares more about the internet than their bankruptcy....EPIC FAIL. I am ashamed to be an American. Land of Opportunity? More like Land of Hypocrisy. If you're immigrating, skip the USA, and go to either Canada or one of the Scandinavian countries. Their quality of life is amazing.
@NessMencesal Right. They didn't just spend the last six months debating over the debt ceiling and government spending. They've only been talking about a bill that hasn't been put before the House yet. DERP
Why does the people in this video jump or skip? Look closely! If you want to prove your point, don't edit the video to only say what you want them to say. By doing so you are no better than the government your fighting against.
@FloppyTrout This would be more of a Fascist, or Authoritarian thing than a Communist thing. Communism, in principle, is diametrically opposed to censorship of the people. Most Communist countries are complex hybrids of Statism, Authoritarianism, and Communism. Once a lot of Communist leaders realized that large sects of the public wouldn't accept Communism, they adopted fascist and militaristic ways of forcing them to swallow the pill. This is a human err, not a Communist one.
@FloppyTrout No problem. I'm a student of history, and Communism never gets a fair shake. Don't get me wrong, I would never live in a Communist country, but the truth is that there is not now, nor has there ever been, a communist country as laid out in the Communist Manifesto.

Revelation 13:1-18 .... And he had power to give life [Greek: breath] unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed."
I think the image (or statue/man made) is through Government security main computers.
Just another step forward for BIG BROTHER, and if you still think you have any "Say So" power, think again! It's those with enough money to buy/bribe your politicians.
The apex of irony: USA complaining to China about them censoring their peoples internet access - and then turning right around to install their very own identical internet blacklist back at home.
Everyone that sees this has a responsibility to bring it to the attention of everyone that will listen, this is too important to just complain about, we need to be proactive to protect the few rights we have left.
Right let me get this right. America thinks it has the right to block a website in other countries? What the fuck gives them any sort of right to do that then. Why does America always think they control the whole world? I am SO glad I live in the UK and not there...
I'm in the UK. The reason I'm worried is that if this is approved in the US, a similar proposal will happen in the UK. So, who am I supposed to be emailing?
@Matrixian21 It already has. Your court of appeals just ruled that users that dont have a license to take a copy of the website for display is copy right infringment. Guess what your browser does?
@Matrixian21 we're only 6 months behind the yanks so it will be defo on the cards for us, come on Anonymous sort those fuckers out. Wiki Anonymous (group), hehe
@Matrixian21 Email your lawmakers now, while our politicians are still debating it. Urge them to contact the American government and tell them to back down from this horrible idea.
@Matrixian21 If such a bill comes to the UK get in touch with your local MP and find out his position., they most probably will know nothing about it so it's up to you to educate. If they do know about it ask about their position and take it from there. If anti, get involved and fast, mobilise a local awareness campaign. Also find out what Bills are coming up in Parliament and if something similar is there.. start early.
pretty much all it is is a bunch of whiny little cunts acting like two year olds going "mommy he is sharing my content for free make it stop", i swear people get stupider and more self conceited every day.
@LadyRuin2012 that's true in some cases but there's things like people who believe if they hate something that because of free speech they can say whatever they want when they want where they want and go all racist or homophobic across the web funny thing is tho they only prove that their lives are hopeless and jail is the only thing for them. ive come across a trans hating individual online here and really wish to show here what freedom of speech really means but i dont because its offensive.
Why do I have this horrible feeling that this bill is a huge step towards "1984"? Anyways, why must the government worry about trivial bullshit like the internet? They need to focus on the economoy, terrorism, and other big issues.
I screamed in anger at this. Really and truly. You mean to tell me that this government is MORE worried about what the fuck goes on in the internet than they are about the troubles in the world, like wars all across the world, floods, starvation, earthquakes and god forfuckingbid a terrorist attack here at HOME?!!
FUCK THIS GOVERNMENT!!! Fuck you, government. Fuck you very fucking much.
They do care about those things too. But congress isn't in charge of taking care of those things. They make bills. And they have to tend to the bills that are introduced to them. That is their job. Understand how your government works before you go screaming and yelling at them.

It's just a matter of time.
cosmingurau 7 months ago 46
@cosmingurau I think it will be known as "cost-free distribution"... Instilling the idea that this is a war between the American entertainment industry, and the rest of the world, is wrong in my opinion, because they will be encouraged to win the "war" through the use of their resources (moolah), instead of attempting to embrace the BT protocol and other forms of lire distribution (like Creative Commons productions such as Pioneer One have done).
BurritoBazooka 4 months ago
@BurritoBazooka libre distribution*
BurritoBazooka 4 months ago
@BurritoBazooka They won't win the war. It may take some time and a lot of victims, but they won't win it. Google seems to be on our side... but even without Google we will win.
cosmingurau 4 months ago
@cosmingurau How the hell is copyright oppression? If I spend time and effort making something I care about it damn well not be stolen by someone.
ColtonOweekly 4 months ago
@ColtonOweekly Not copyright per se, the notion of being recognized as the author of a certain thing is of course necessary and downright normal. We have creative commons for that. But unfortunately, copyright is just the excuse the media conglomerates pull in order for them to wage wars on their consumers, in order to strip them of their last penny. Copyright is a sword with two blades.
cosmingurau 4 months ago
@cosmingurau
ColtonOweekly 4 months ago
@cosmingurau Let's hope so, my friend. I've always thought that we are living in the golden age of the internet right now. We are in the "Wild west" period so to speak. Laws are loose and users are free to do mostly what they want. Eventually it will be locked down with progressing monitoring technology and the internet will no longer be a free place.
Lunarmemory 3 months ago
@Lunarmemory You are right by saying we are in the wild west period of the Internet. Nice way to put it. But I don't think that it will be progressively locked down. No doubt a lot of fat cats will try to. But apart from the fact that we the majority, especially all the new generations, are already way too accustomed to the "free" system, and would fight to protect it, there are also some OTHER fat cats who want Internet to stay free. As I said, Google has build an empire on this idea.

Go to wikipedia and read about him!
antonscottgoustin 7 months ago
If you don't think the Internet is a political toy for anti-democratic governments like the Bush-Cheney administration or the Mubarak administration in Egypt, then you don't know about the young Khaled Saeed, whose death served as a rallying point for Egypt's 25 January revolution, was murdered, according to a new medical report. Saeed was killed and then a packet of marijuana was inserted into his throat, according to the report by Egypt's chief medical examiner, Ayman Fouda.

FloppyTrout 7 months ago
@FloppyTrout This would be more of a Fascist, or Authoritarian thing than a Communist thing. Communism, in principle, is diametrically opposed to censorship of the people. Most Communist countries are complex hybrids of Statism, Authoritarianism, and Communism. Once a lot of Communist leaders realized that large sects of the public wouldn't accept Communism, they adopted fascist and militaristic ways of forcing them to swallow the pill. This is a human err, not a Communist one.
