I miss John, and I miss Peter. But I remember when John Schlitt took over as lead for Petra, it took a little getting used to as well (they also had gone through quite a bit of personnel change), but in the end, it produced for me what I feel was the golden age of Petra music. I've always loved Michael, although I never thought I'd see him with Newsboys. I'm willing to keep an open mind because sometimes reinvention can be good.
These guys did a free concert in Tucson a couple years ago,(maybe it was last year, I don't remember,) but it was with Michael, and it was all about glorifying the Lord. It was awesome!
@Ironwind1972, that's and excellent attitude and one we should all take with us into our church services too. So many people get bent out of shape over music in church and it causes a lot of pointless arguments. People should be more concerned over if God is pleased with what is going on and less about what they are personally getting out of it. We should be leaving church saying "What did You think God? Did You like it?" not, "Boy, I didn't get much out of that". Worship is not for us.
I liked the Newsboys but I didn't care for the venue. We also didn't go to Breakforth so being let in half way through the opening speaker and trying to find seats in a HUGE room that was very dark and almost totally filled already wasn't a pleasant experience. I liked the Newsboys but I doubt I will ever go to another Breakforth concert again or even any concert at the Shaw.
@PoBoyX Yeah this is true. I didn't go to the rest of the conference either. There was a pit in front of the stage though, I just walked up to it after Francis Chan was finished speaking. Another thing with the Shaw is that the stage is much too low for a venue of it's size. If you're more than 10 rows back on the floor you can't see anything.
We were probably about a third of the way back. I wanted to go up to the front but I was there with my wife and kids and I wanted to be where they were and none of them wanted to go up front. Would have liked to have heard more than just the last few minutes of Francis Chan too. Seemed like a great speaker.

Come on people, is it about the music or the message. This is about glorifying the Lord, not about how it makes us feel.
