@SkinMechanic65 that silver was controversial though. he was the most successful triple jumper of all time, I'd rate 4 olympic medals over edwards 1 gold and a wr anyday.
He has alot of speed and control over his posture down the runway. and he carries most of it throughout the jump. good job he didnt jump longer. or he would have been out the dam pit lol
A soft track benefits the knees, but there is a thing called impulse. The shorter the impulse the more force generated. Therefore, harder track --> more force --> farther jumps.
for sure it was not. if im right seoul jump of 17.61m was published to be 6.50(+5cm loss to board)-5.20-5.96. jump phase in that attempt was even worse (technically) compared to this one here. you can suggest this one must have been over 6m, if speed paterns are comparable. so hop-step should not be more than 11.80m, maximum 12m.
His first two phases are incredible, probably the furthest in history but collapses a little on his jump. If he had the power to hold a jonathan edwards glide at the end, we are talking about a triplejump at over 18.5 m!!!
- Jonathan had lots and lots of jumps over 18m+ and 17.80+ if i recall it right he jumped 18.16 18.29 slightly over 18m in gateshead and 18.32 18.39 and 18.43 same year! In 1995.. the ones he made at Euroliga was wind aided, but just slightly.. No doubt that jonathan was the greatest triple jumper.. Alot better than markov imo
They must have gotten the measurement wrong. That thing looks like 61-62 feet. He looks like a jumping bean. Dude gets sprung for the 3rd phase. He's all cockeyed and not knowing what to do with all of that.

Niceeeee jump. A was afraid to break the track.. :). This stadium is shit, track is so soft.

... A Soft track is better for triple, as it eases the impact of each phase... and the stadium in its day was not "shit"

yeah he could have been a split second patient on that last phase, and the side ways landing took off at least half a foot on that jump.
