  • I remember the first time I put mine on. I was fine until I went to take my regulator off my mask and got it stuck and couldn't breathe. I started panicking and trying to pull my mask off instead of staying calm and trying to figure out how to get it unstuck. Good times.

  • that was funny . hope she does not get scared again ... lol

  • i remember my first time, i didn't freak out tho lol

  • The first breath you ever take on an Scba is the worst Lol.. My first time i fuckin ripped my mask off cause i didnt have a proper seal and no air was coming in :P SO i flipped out and ripped the mask off.. Nomex hood and all Lol.. I threw my helmet. :P

  • same here, i was getting no air, and my face was getting sucked in, i got my mask off in a jiffy

  • ha ha, at about 0:09 i hear some guy say " cuz a fat guy like me might go put it on next" he's gotta be talkin about leaving the shoulder and waist straps on the scba extended when after your done with it

  • Lmao

  • hahaha this never gets old

  • haha i was the same WAY!

  • i watched this video a few weeks before i used a scott pack i was freaked out but its not scarey at all the best way to do it the first time is to not put the webbing on but just put the mask to your face

  • I just got my SCBA yesterday, it's NOTHING...it's weird though...you have to experience to really know what it's like...but it's nothin!! So nobody should be nervous...And idk why she jumped...it's a little bit of a surprise, but it's a releif! I't difficult to breathe out of the mask when you dont have the regulator.

  • It IS so much harder to breathe with the mask on w/o the regulator!!

  • It is at first but then u get used to it...I have no problem with it now

  • Im gonna be going to JR FF camp and wget to use SCOTT packs y did she jump what should i axpect???

  • i don't remember it being scary... it sucks to your face more alittle after your first breath... really cool though...

  • its not scary...

  • listen to the idiot in the back ground at 0:07 "casue a fat guy like me might go put it on next" lmao! What is he even talkin about!

  • It Is A Unique Experience. IF You Don't Know What to expect You can react just like she does in the video. But Its Definitly a unique experience.

  • ahh... i remeber my first time....

i didn't really jump like that though!!

    lol

  • lol tried it yesterday not that scary.

  • my first time i didnt get a good seal so air pressure was blowing my face.

  • Actually there are two tanks one rated at 4500 psi and the other at 2216 psi... when it first goes into the pressure regulator it gets taken down to 100 psi, then it's depressurized again in the actual regulator itself to about 4-5 psi

  • Actually, there is three.

  • o my, must be tight competition there

  • wait so are you a firefighter?

  • so i just recently started as a jr. back in the beginning of november and about 3 weeks after i joined on one of our drill nights one of the guys had to teach me how to use it and i was nervous but i thought it was so cool and when i did it i didnt jump i just stood there like THIS IS SOOOO COOL!!!!

  • right with you man!! so cool!!

  • yeah im not a jounior firefighter anymore cause i just resently turned 18 but just a couple days ago i tryed on a air pack and i was blind folded and went threw a drill i did the same thing but didnt jump as high lol!!! im also a guy and its pretty neat seeing a gurl ass a firefighter but i love firefighting its adicting o and by the way my name is kyle(:

  • lol she got scared but im sure shes good now

  • how did you get the scba mask?

  • we just went to our firehouse....we get to play with alota stuff.....

  • o,lol. wow, firemen/firewomen know their stuff about this air stuff.lol as long as is dosnt hurt, wich im glade it don't,still want to do it

  • thats funny=D

  • what does it do? does it hurt?

  • The tank air pressure can be upwards of 4,500 psi. There is a high pressure regulator that brings the air pressure down to about 60psi. In the low pressure regulator (the part that hooks up to the mask), there is a negative pressure diaphragm/valve. one breathes-in, the valve opens and gives him/her a blast of breathing air at about 60psi. It will stay open as long as the firefighter is breathing open.

    Does it hurt? No.
