I'm a huge fan of their 70's and I find the 80's to be a guilty pleasure despite being quite cheesy but they made up for that with Reveneg which IMO was the last great album. Psycho Circus was a mess and Sonic Boom is OK but not spectacular, I like the idea of recapturing their classic sound but it really didn't work for me, I really wanted it to work but no.

What pissed me off was Paul and Gene had Tommy and Eric wear Ace and Peter's makeup when they could have created new characters

can agree with you on that one. i saw them live in 2008 its the most mechanical band i've ever seen.

they wore like robots. paul doing he's strutting around gene spitting blood and the drum kit levitate and the song list is the same they have had on every other concerts,even the ancore is so rehersed it gets boring.

I'ts just sad to see.

This is a great song but I dont think it would have changed much as far as the direction of KISS' popularity. All bands have their runs and then wane abit. Dynasty wasn't a "disco" album, it had 2 disco sounding songs on it and Unmasked was too far to the "pop" side. The Elder was actually a great album and it rocked plenty. Look at Creatures of the Night, nothing rocked harder in 1982 but nobody but the diehards even heard it. Bottom line is all bands go through this and the greats survive.....

yea, they should have continued this directiion of music for the next album instead of the elder. They wouldn't have hit such a low point in their carreers. But thats part of growing musicaly. These 'killer' songs were recorded at sessions before the elder sessions began. These songs were going to be Kiss' return to rock after the disco albums. Bob Ezrin came in when these songs were in almost completed demo form and he and Gene and Paul decided to start over. They decided in the concept album and left these tracks off for obvious reasons. Kiss went back in and finished 4 demo's for Killers long after The Elder was out.

I think the Australian version that included

"Talk To Me" & "Shandi" should have been the worldwide release. Nothing to be ashamed of with those songs at all esp "TTM". What I didn't like was the dodgy way "Shout It Out Loud" faded out, cutting out the climatic ending. Regret passing up a great conditioned vinyl copy recently, always loved that cover with hot pink, shame it was to be Ace's least favourable years.
