In the US, we are. It's different than the Army because we are a small, lightweight shock force (we have small numbers, even less infantry) and the Army is an occupational force. We receive better and more hands-on training than army types. It has to do with our number of bodies being trained versus theirs. When you have a class that has 30 people as opposed to 300, the class with 30 is going to be better taught. You must have a death wish or are lying about the Army bit...

abusing fellow marines is not how you toughen them up. letting them fight back is. none of these sick bastards would have the balls to mess with someone who can fight back. i know because i spent 4 years in the infantry fighting against this stupid shit and these marines do not like people who fight back and stand up for what's right. i always refused to join in the hazing and instead told new marines how to reseist it. i honestly don't know which pissed off the other marines more.

Wtf this is a ritual my dad went through that when he was in the Corps in the 70's too! Also, when they get their stripes down the side of their leg, their platoon takes turns punching down th side of the stripes and by then you can not even walk, let alone stand
