  • feelings are never mediocre, unfortunately

  • great version. I feel he's gotten better with age...his newest albums were fantastic.

  • beautiful song but in my opinion chet baker is a mounster playing this song compare to EC but awesome awesome song, why dont we have this music nowadays.

  • Thank you for posting this clip. Wonderful rendition.

  • @orqsilva so you're in the habit of finding "mediocre" musicians and watching their videos for 1 minute, then stopping, just so you can inspire yourself to seek a higher standard. And then proclaiming your awareness of your superiority to the world. Sounds like a worthwhile use of your time.

  • @orqsilva i don't care how great you think you are, or who you think is great. but everyone can respect elvis costello, and you're a pretentious ass if you say otherwise

  • @orqsilva dont watch the video if you don't like it!

  • Just compare Chet baker's version of "Almost Blue" with "Elvis" (obviously not his real name) Costello's.

  • @orqsilva Wow, talk about being an ignorant jackass.

  • How can you even say Elvis is a no-talent? That makes no sense.

  • This doesn't bring you close to the feeling you get with the Chet Baker version.

  • Not Chet Baker. What a no-talent. Falubert said, " Every bourgeoise wants to think of himself as an artist." This is a perfect example. Nothing happening here.

  • @orqsilva How can you call Elvis a no-talent? You must be deaf, or tone deaf.

  • @orqsilva

Costello wrote the fucking song, dickhead

  • who is chet baker ??

  • God this is one of my favourite songs. I love Chet Baker doing it too. How can you not.

  • Amazing song. Amazing artist. It seems to get better with age. Thanks for posting.

  • One of the best songs from one of the best songwriters EVER.

  • @OdedFriedGaon YOU MEAN CHET´S SONG?

  • @gunnymorales74

Hmmm, i dunno what you mean, but yes Costello wrote it with and for Chet Baker in mind. a perfect fit, indeed. on second thought, maybe it was Shipbuilding. Anyway, one of the greatest songs ever.

  • @OdedFriedGaon

Does anyone know if Chet and Elvis ever did a duo on this song?

  • @gunnymorales74 Elvis Costello wrote Almost Blue for Chet Baker.

  • I think he does a wonderful meaningful interpretation.

  • Chet is no doubt a fabulous player but with no composer, there is no song. Content is king, always has been, always will be.

  • He aint nothing without Chet!

  • Chat and Costello so cool.

  • Man this is soooo good, he can write a song and deliver it (though Chet simply has this genius touch that gives it just the extra)

    thanks for posting

  • Chet gave it pathetic, heart-wrenching tragedy.

  • @audible67 i namely agree with you but i preder Chet singin' it. Question of tastes... You've got yours, i've got mine:D

  • @pippoMASO I'm not sure how you have interpreted my simple comment into a preference of one over the other... It would appear that you think I prefer Elvis? whatever...you've got your agenda and I...well, I don't. Question of tastes? more like a question of reading comprehension.

  • @audible67 Now i can clearly see the meaning of your comment. Excuse me for not understanding it

  • The Chet Baker version with Elvis Costello is amazing!!!

  • Ever since hearing this on Spectacle, it's my new favorite song. Haunting.

  • Try listening to the version with Elvis, Chet Baker and (I think) Diane Krall. Unforgetable!!!

  • is it on youtube?

  • yes, under chet baker. Try it!

  • Heartbreaking. He's absolutely wonderful.

  • His voice finally grew into the song (well, in 94)
