no trace of alcohol in his system?...LOL !..i have the book
"John Bonham..A Thunder of Drums" and it's exactly what was in system..about 2 bottles worth of vodka to be precise..he was downing quadruple vodkas on a steady pace all through rehearsals for the 1st leg of their american tour, from early in the afternoon to the time they put him to bed.. wow...even back then the american media deceived the public..you wanna know everything there is to know about Bonzo, get that book !
@MrISatai I was just in a pissing match over this and since I have a website dedicated to Bonham, I did some more research on a few things and had to correct my website as a result. In Great Britain, the Standard Single Pub Measure is 25 ml, however a larger 35 ml Pub Measure is sometimes used. 40 Measures = 1000 ml or 1 qt. Larger Measure = 1400 ml or 1-1/2 qt. Alcohol didn't ACTUALLY kill him - it was inhaling his vomit that drowned him. Alcohol was just a contributing factor.
Bonham drank himself to death unfortunately!, he was also taking med"s for anxiety, if my memory is correct, bonzo ate a ham roll the entire day! (not good) choked on his vomit during the nite! SOOO SAD!!!!!
@MegaZephead For breakfast he downed four quadruple vodkas (16 shots). Led Zeppelin's Tour Manager and John Paul Jones found him dead the next afternoon. The coroner's inquest showed that before he died, Bonham had consumed forty measures of vodka which resulted in water-logging of the lungs caused by inhalation of vomit (Pulmonary Edema). Accidental death was determined on October 27, 1980 and no other drugs were found in Bonham's body.
@HardRockDrummer666 Spot on my friend!, but there was speculation of barbitiutes, and one other that i cant remember! also, plant"s vocal tech ,along with jonesy found bonzo dead.
@MegaZephead With all due respect, by all of the testimony that I've gathered over the years and as written by Chris Welch and Geoff Nicholls in 'A Thunder Of Drums' - told by Mick Bonham, it was Benji LeFevre (who had replaced Richard Cole as Led Zeppelin's tour manager) and John Paul Jones who found Bonzo the next afternoon. No mention of who carried him to bed though. Please stop by my website at: bonzobrosdrums com where any friend of John's is one of mine, too! Thnx!
@MegaZephead APPARENTLY... YouTube does not assist self indulgent assholes who plug their own websites in responses like these!! Don't ya just hate those type of inconsiderate morons?! haha... HEY! I can't talk about me like that! (Hello, Me, it's nice talking to myself... Oh, credit to dementia! LOL) Oops! My bad! If you go to my channel there is a working link there to "Bonzo Bros. Drums.com - Where ANY Friend Of John Henry Bonham's Is A Friend Of Mine!!" (I endorse this message!) Oops! Again?
@Alu142 I know how he died as I've been following zep since 1983. I was almost 8 years old when he died in 1980. Testing methods for drugs were poor back then. I'm not trying to introduce a conspiracy theory but all these news stories are based on a Led Zeppelin media release.
