  • Thank you for sharing this! Great techniques! Oss!

  • Doesn't this pass set you up to be triangled after you break full guard and their legs are able to lock your head in? or could you escape since your arms are not inside the bottom guys legs to pull in.

  • Since when has JiuJitsu stopped being an art of self-defense? All of this works just fine.

  • Forget the Krav Maga warriors, these are great variations, I am happy in BC but if I cannot extend my work permit I will have to move to Toronto and I would love to train there. Saludos

  • THIS IS A SPORT JIU JITSU MOVE, IT IS NOT RELATED TO SELF DEFENCE (MMA). THANK YOU ALL FOR UR COMMENTARIES

  • @cesarrezek Usually you won't see a guard in self-defense situations lol

  • Thanks for the comments, just a little note - the guard game, in self defence, is reduced to 1 stabilish guard if you are on the bottom by any reason, 2 once in guard, defend from punches, slam, neck crank etc, 3 create space for the technical stand up. The guard submissions we see in the mma shows are not a go in real world as your opponent may take desperate mesures to escape and there aren't refs to stop it. I will post news videos correcting these issues. Thanks.

  • I can't help thinking about porn positions when I see this video... xD well... nice job guys... but it looks funny to see 2 grown man doing this... sorry... I gotta be more serious about my training -_- nice vid.

  • The "guy on top" is a 3rd degree BB with Nova Uniao. The armbar is not there nor is the ankle sweep. If you guys did an actual BJJ class you would know it (although some guys did point out both already). I was at the class - the question on the ankle sweep was asked and answered - keep the guys hips up and he can't sweep. The guy who mentioned the armbar needs new glasses.

  • thank you all for the comments, here is mine. These are not supposed to be instructional videos, they are just footages during regular classes, hence why it is slacky and relaxed... the real thing is slightly different.

  • there isn't hitting in bjj lol people miss the purpose of these completely. Adding onto what javier so nicely put. BJJ gives you like a crazy monkey strength, plus the focus and idea of if a fight does come to the ground how you can make the best of the situation. people have to stop going on with what works and what doesnt

  • this is pretty good but looks like a leg sweep could counter this easily

  • Why do idiots feel the need to post MMA comments on BJJ videos? If you would honestly try these in the street you get what's coming to you. All you affliction t-shirt wearing tools need to stop being captain obvious..... That second variation is slick btw

  • @javierbystereo

    well put my friend!

  • Well I guess thats why this is a bjj instructional video and mentions nothing about mma

  • Thanks, that's true.

  • dick tuck

  • I think jiu-jitsu is, first of all, a martial art.

Every movement should be useful for self defense.

I don't want to learn a lot of kama-sutra techniques, that will get me killed in a real fight.

I respect sport jiu-jitsu, and may be I will compete some day, but I think it's important to "Keep it real".

  • @hectorruiz2004 jiujitsu is a self defense art. that is jiujistu at it's core.

  • @GHRepresent no it isn't. the whole definition is vague. jiujitsu is unarmed combat styles originating from feudal japan "at its core".

judo is practically a sport created on those same principles as original jiujitsu styles. bjj is derived from judo. both judo and bjj are sports oriented.

that being said, all contact sports have more or less self-defense elements. the point is, it is *the* core in styles like krav maga, defendo, etc. -in judo, bjj, MMA, etc. its sports.

  • @ageofcrackpipe fuck the lame history, wherever ,whatever. Helio Gracie created bjj for self defense. He , his sons, and many ppl have used it in a self defense sitution many times. I am talking about self defense bjj. THat is the core of bjj, the self defense.

  • lol...

  • wow that guy on top in the begning should really watch out for an arm bar...

  • anyone blue belt or higher (even a whitebelt who knows a thing or two) will be watching for and defending the armbar and you could use it to your advantage since its easy to escape the armbar from that position and transfer right into sidecontrol

  • he can't be armbarred from there as both his elbows are in.

  • perfect??? did you look at how close his feet and ankles at 13 seconds? Any bjj worth a damn grabs one of the ankles and stops this lame attempt.

  • Any bjj worth a damn knows about that move and is very aware of his feet in this situation

  • he can't be sweeped as his shoulders are on the floor and his hips too high

  • nice setups!

  • perfect
