After watching this, I just have to know: How is this special NOT on DVD? I mean, the Spirit of the Lord was all OVER this special. And this may not be Patti's best performance, but I've never seen her as touched as she was here. Only Patti could still work a stage with only one 6" pump on! PBS - DVD PLEASE!

Does anybody know who did this song originally!?!?!?! My aunt used to blow this song back in the day for our church, and we did with the full live band and everything just like the album. I've been googling, and binging, and yahoo searching for it, but the video always pops up. I know that this song is almost 20 yrs old, but still should be findable (if that's a word. ;-D)

Yes! The original was by Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers on the album "If I Be Lifted". Ethyl Holloway was the lead, she passed earlier this year. Patti had a different interpretation but are equally outstanding!

I remember I gave all sorts of money out my pocket when they first aired this for the PBS fund support drive! They used to have some incredible specials on PBS back then, they were truly a beacon for art, history, and culture. Patti and the Chicago folks brought the tv house down with this one! Such worthwhile viewing...!
