I got to 4:26 before I gave up! Drink whiskey however you want to, just don't come to my gaff and throw it on the carpet... this chap has too much whiskey if he can waste it like this HUMBUG!
@shylockakita I know for sure that had I tossed any of the Glenglassaugh 37 on the floor when my buddies and I split a bottle, I would have been BANNED from the group and possibly checked into the mental hospital.
Were there ever to be a fire in the room he's standing in, the carpet would light up like peated napalm and I wouldn't want to be the one to try and put it out...
You're a total lunatic Richard. Seek help. Also, I've heard nothing but nasty things about Whyte & Mackay. One of the very worst blends by most accounts.
Also before you pour the stuff into the glass make Sure there is not any washing up liquid or dish washing powder residue left in the glass as this can destroy the taste
One question. Why do you swirl the wisky? As you swirl whisky, all the alcohol tries to evaporate at the same time. Carrying all the flavour up the glass at the same time and it hits your nose at the same time and it will just burn your nose and confuse u. That's what i've learned from:.watch?v=Boj33DVSILQ great video btw thanks
Are there whiskeys that are more suitable for mixing? I love single malt scotch neat or with a drop of water and have not done much tasting of the blended. I agree for most of the whiskeys this guy would deal with; it would be sacrilege to put anything in. Are there whiskeys, with notes that would come through better than others if mixed with ginger ale, or cola? Juices of any kind?
@FloMonKish Yes yes I've had the standard drinks I was just wondering if the sweetness of 'golden wedding' is better for certain mixes while CC is quite a bit drier and so would do better to compliment certain flavours
Fantastic - as an ex-Scotch whisky drinker who has switched to bourbon you are tempting me back. Enthusiasm is a great advert for anything - I listen to music, read books or watch films that are recommended by people who have a great passion for their subject.
When you finish that whiskey, i can see it in your face that you love that job :D
How do you feel about The Famous Grouse, bought one 35cl bottle in Spain a few weeks ago as a joke, but starting to wonder if i should open it.
I`m 18 so i have about 0 experience when it comes to whiskey, i only heard it was a good start, please give me some tips if you have any experience with The Famous Grouse :D
Maestro, I love your character that comes across in your videos! As a novice, I have some questions if you'd be so kind.
Firstly, why is it that single malts appear to enjoy a better reputation than blends? From seeing your videos, it appears that blends, when done correctly, can be truly excellent! Do you enjoy single malts as much as blended whisky?
Secondly, and I understand this is a huge subject, but how do the characters of blended and single malts differ?
Greetings from Australia Sir. Before viewing your videos, I had no knowledge about the wonderful world of whiskey. Now I feel confident in trying various types of whiskeys and understanding their individual characteristics. Thank you for sharing your passion with novice people like myself.
I can't believe i've only just found these videos. Absolutely fantastic stuff. I love the way the presenter's real passion comes across and because of this, he's able to teach the 'etiquette of the drink'. I've been drinking Whyte & Mackay for years now, I really can't fault them at all, and in my opinion they make the best Whiskey out here.
Do you need to be older to appreciate whisky more? I'm 23 and I can not taste much that he is describing from the whiskies, especially the single malts. Yet if I put Jack Daniels in a little coke I can taste the strong aromas from the whisky.
I so much like to learn, how to drink this fantastic thing. But when i put the Whisky in my mouth, its like all "BVWADDR" Taste.. And cant fint the logic thing. Have any of you a great idea how to start doing this. I tryed to add water and Ice. But seems not help. I could really use some help! GREETINGS from Denmark
great video, i'm half scottish and half irish but i've only just recently decided to start drinking whisky; rest of the family do! I still feel the taste quite overpowering, is there a type i should start on to sophisticate my palate? Also, scotch on the rocks; how much ice do u want in there or is it a sin to ever add ice?
Richard, firstly I love the video, fantastic demonstration and wit to match. But Im having real trouble with scotch, Im irish and I drink whiskey regularly from about the age of 14 up, My first ever tast of scotch was a bottle of Glenmorangie, however I find the scent somewhere in between burnt liquorice or soured apple sugars. My favourite whiskey would be white label Bushmills , Im now 28 so have I simply not got the gift ?, or should i be starting on a specific blend? Please advise!
2:40 OMG ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!! I like mine with only a whisper of water unless it's the cask strength of coarse, wonder how expensive his carpet cleaning bills are??
That's a great vid. I only think if I ever buy such a scotch I won't throw it on the carpet. I wonder and I trust you on it but it seems like spillage. But once again great movie thanks for the insight!
I never add anything to my whisky. However, chucking the wisky on the floor, no chance! I would suggest a separate glass. Pour it into that separate glass. Drink as he suggests, but just as you are getting pissed, drink the disgarded whisky, cos lets face it, you aint gonna know the difference by then!!!
@masterblenderrichard well surely u dont have to throw it on the floor to do that. Why not throw it into a bowl and then put it back in the bottle via a funnel no?
