The game design is absolute rubbish.

They made it look like anal carnival, instead of making it look more authentic to the aestetics of the book. If it was made to look more like the dark ages with a mix of the Bestiarium aestetics, the game would be an instant classics...

Okay if you think this game is a rip of of god of war it's not. To explain the lead designer of this game was also the lead designer for god of war 1 and 2. So some of this stuff was his idea in the first place. So to be honest this guy is just using his own ideas for his new company.

To date, this game resulted in some of the most fun I ever had on the PS3.

But there is a noticeable point where the funding or imagination ran out, which was a crying shame. It was at the point where you fought crusaders.

Classic Game Room always has the most friendly feeling and honest reviews :) The reviewer from Gamespot overthought too much and compared it to GOW the whole entire time. Yes, this reviewer says, "It is similar to GOW in almost every aspect... BUT it is still a bunch of fun." So yeah, maybe it does feel like an emulation of GOW (though GOW isn't the first of its kind anyway) but it's still hella fun, and that's what matters in games right?

The game does take a LOT from God of War, but I actually like it more. In Dante's Inferno, I was much more challenged, and the combat felt much less mindless - I had to think about what to kill next, and what attacks would be most beneficial at that point. When I play God of War, I just mash square and triangle repeatedly until stuff is dead, and die maybe 3 times in the whole game. Not bashing GoW, just saying that I feel the games are similar, but not identical.

@SuperGamecube64 try playing gow in hard or chaos mode. you'll also only die 3 times... every two minutes.... if you pass 1 of those two minutes blocking...

CGR obviously support the game. But, is it worth buying? I mean, during battle he always used either that Scythe or that attack from distance. These are the only weapons he carries like Nero in DMC4, or you collect weapons as you go along like Dante in DMC or Kratos? And do you get to upgrade those weapons and unlock new moves? Can you use magic and upgrade your health? Can you change his appearance? Someone reply if possible plz...thanks.

@MidnightChampion Every thing you just asked is true next to collecting weapons you can collect relics and upgrade them too also the games fright factor is as high as dead space if you truly take a chance to look at some things, so I recommend it if your a fan of gams like that

GOW comparisons are bloody ridiculous, especially from someone who has allegedly been a long time video game fan. GOW is a rip-off of Onimusha anyways, especially Onimusha 3.
