I chose colored pencil for my medium, but that tool seems really pixelated and not pressure sensitive like my other tools such as my oils. It's not my resolution, because I have completed my sketch with shading quality and fine lines. Is this an issue with Corel? I am working on an Intuos 4 and using Painter 11. I am having difficulty also with getting that nice solid flowing curve when inking. Generally speaking I have a pretty steady hand, but my lines look weak and shaky! Any suggestions?
How have your lines all those nice tails that narrow toward the end? I always have thick lines without tails. Is your tablet so much pressure sensitive? I only have Bamboo, but with that, i cant create anything like that. Or is it another setting? I'm working with PS, but i'm sure it is possible to have these tails theer as well, i just cant seem to figure out how:( And i dont want to use the damn pen tool, it takes forever with te curves and all.
@miraxterrik It has to do with your pressure sensitivity. I have an Apple, and on my dashboard, if I go into my settings menu, at the bottom of that window there is a place to adjust settings on your tablet. Adjust the sensitivity on the slider bar there. If you up the sensitivity that should help unless you have a problem that doesn't have to do with a computer setting. You can go to Wacom's website as well to see if there are updates that could fix your problem.

Hi, what type of tablet are you using? Do you ever draw directly onto photoshop? How long did drawing directly on the tablet take you to learn/master?
@MiSSxEMS Its probably wrong because you're saying you'd prefer a creator to be anything other than what they are, which is insulting. Its like saying "I wish you wouldn't be yourself". Saying "I dont like his artwork" would've done the trick!
@MiSSxEMS Ah :D Just because someone draws women in an unrealistic manner, presented in situations you don't approve of, shouldn't mean it's insulting or degrading. I believe Reiq creates what HE wants to see, and that's all personal preference and has nothing to do with you or women. Doesn't mean he expects women to be something they're not, it's just what he likes... And that's EXACTLY what artwork should be about... What YOU like, not what everyone else likes and what will please them.
@F0B3Y I think its the cover pencil hes using. If you play around with the grain I think it should come out pretty smooth. Also just have paper set to plain paper, not canvas
@MiSSxEMS Well, if you've seen the life art work he has on his website and are still stuck on what you see, then sure, i don't care, see art how you want it. It's open to interpretation after all.
@MiSSxEMS Not entirely. I actually understand where it is your coming from. I've seen some japanese drawings on here where the sexual extremities of the girls drawn were grossly disproportionate.
I guess what I'm getting at is that you can do a lot worse than REIQ. I also understand that bodies aren't as perfectly in tuned as in drawings where imagination takes hold, but you generally don't want to draw boring, slightly chunky girls either....
@MiSSxEMS Some works of his are less....raunchy than others; but i still like what he does a lot. Even if it's the ones with topless chicks lying down on a sofa with her legs open. Although I'm not too big on his drawings on the JigglyGirls site, I still like his work. (sexual cows might be pushing it a little, i am a guy...)
A lot of my respect for him also draws from the fact that his work is what I'm learning from when it comes to drawing female body.
Video tuts are very good and helpful especially that I'm migrating a bit to Painter from Photoshop.
I have a bit of a problem in Painter though, every time I'm rotating the canvas, I just accidentally tap the stylus a bit and then it returns into normal view. The same thing when dragging the canvas around. Is there a way to disable the "return to default view" when just accidentally tapping the stylus on. Hope you can rep to this, BIG THANKS.
just got wacom short while ago and nice work on this one ill be posting my work here soon since I didnt use a scan drawing for my work. drop by and let me know. I use a different style of work.
Do you get any lag when you rotate with the wacom? I tried rotating in PS CS 4 and the brush would lag so much it would be impossible to work. I am running a high powered AMD with a high speed gaming video card from Radeon 5600 I think. I would switch to painter if I can use the rotation effectively.
@blackredJazz hahaha, yeah, i actually am teaching myself to draw like him. So i was like "wtf, you had that drawing with clothes on before, now it's covered in jizz!"
@SHiTJuFro743 youd be surprised at how many artist have to resort to that kinda art to make money, because its the biggest money maker as an unemployed artist
@TheGeckoNinja Yeah, I can see how that makes sense. If you ever see it for yourself, you'll be all o__O too. Because a lot of them will have characters in another drawing, except now also with a bunch of freaky sex toy stuff, weird demon things, a bunch of dicks, and are covered in jizz. If you haven't seen it yet, you should.
Hey man, it's a business just like anything else. Besides, compared to some of the other freelance hentai artists out there, Reiq's stuff is pretty tame.
My fill bucket is all messed up. All my lines are closed. So now every time I try to fill in this one circle..The WHOLE page turns black..This never happened before..So what do I do?
since he's using corel painter, the brush i found to use is: theres two boxes in the upper right. left one should be colored pencil. right one should be cover pencil. two different things the options for the brush i have is: dab type;circular. stroke type:single method;cover subcategory;soft cover opacity 100% espression pressure. then i went to edit, pref, and brush tracking and made sure my brush was workign correctly. if anyone has a better setting , do share =]
ever since i saw your drawings i was hooked, i have been working day in and day out to become as good an artist as you are, though it's been an immense struggle and almost frustrating couple of days, i will keep going until I can draw as well as you, you are truly amazing and you have my utmost respect... thanks for being my inspiration :)
@reiqws im new at this, how do you make a "paper A3 Resolution 300 dpi" i have corel painter 11 and when i go to "New" and all i get is "ppi" and "pixels by CM", but no dpi option :(
Hi. I figured that lots of you here are interested in art, so you maybe someone will be able to help me. I have a major issue with pixels when inking my drawings. No. Every artist these days for digital art will make a sketch before doing solid ink so that they know what they will do for the final details. Then they often ink- following along their sketch to make it less scratchy and more color-able, and altogether refined. 'Tracing,' means tracing someone else's art. Inking is deepening and furthering solid detail to art before adding color--- usually.
@mskiara18 u mean since u only have mouse, yeah i know what u mean, after i get my intuos 4 large, ill never again live without it, its like a boyfriend lol
la tabla le da mucha ventaja , yo uso una genius comun y corriente y es un poco mas dificil , de igual manera gracias por el tutorial me ayudo bastante! :)
How do you make the lines so....not shaky and wavy.....mine are always like that...and I use a Wacom tablet too!!Any tips?PLEASE I NEED HELP!! Also,You are an amazing artist!!I wish you luck!
Reiq, the lines are very clean in this picture. What size is the canvas? I usually have my canvas at around 12" x 18", and when I zoom as close as you do in the movie, my lines are slightly fuzzy/pixelated.
hola reiq una preguntota a cuantos pixeles de resolución recomiendas exportar el psd para el entintado digital de una ilustración?. Por que muchas veces se me traba mi compu y se pone muy lenta.
Hey Reiq. Amazing work and inspiring tutorial/ Just a quick question: I know you use Cover Pencil to do digital inking, but in many places I have discovered people recommend the Scratchboard Tool for Digital Inking, what made you go for the Cover Pencil instead? thanks!
@elangelx gracias chavo pero necesito una respuesta no ofensiva digo... ya que estoy pensando en comprarme una y necesito que sus diferencias aparte de la sencibilidad y todo eso jajaja pero gracias
Could I ask what version of Corel Painter you're using? I used to have Corel Painter Essentials downloaded when it came with my Wacom tablet about 5 years ago, but I wasn't sure if that version was even considered a good version to use.
Yeah this is my question too. I want to get a Wacom Bamboo Pen tablet, which comes with Corel Painter Essentials 4. Can I ask you if you liked your version? I want to be able to sketch on a program, and then color in my sketches to make them look more realistic. All my computer has in Paint, and that's a joke for coloring. I want an at least adequate Photoshop-esque program without spending hundreds of dollars on actual Photoshop.
Hey I just got the Corel painter and I was wondering how you got your lines so smooth. I used the covered pencil to sketch but my lines come out very "pixley" What settings did you use to get your lines like that?
You can rotate the canvas by holding down the space bar and the alt key at the same time. you can also simply drag the canvas by just holding down the space bar while dragging :)
Is it possible to turn the picture around without having one of those fancy cintiq tablets with the screen? Like, if I draw on traditional paper, I'll always spin it around to easier make the desired shapes/lines. Can you spin the canvas around in PS?

@MiSSxEMS rofl, i had a feeling you would take it that way. :P
Big boobs on a drawing are fine.
(And you would know they are bad because of some sort of back problem, perhaps?)
Have you notice that he doesn't just do these comic book looking drawings either, he has 'life' drawings too.
In those the girls are usually less cartoony, more realistically proportionate, and don't have giant breasts.
Check those out before you criticize all his works.
This is more like sexual PRAISE of women, btw.
SHiTJuFro743 8 months ago
@MiSSxEMS Not entirely. I actually understand where it is your coming from. I've seen some japanese drawings on here where the sexual extremities of the girls drawn were grossly disproportionate.
I guess what I'm getting at is that you can do a lot worse than REIQ. I also understand that bodies aren't as perfectly in tuned as in drawings where imagination takes hold, but you generally don't want to draw boring, slightly chunky girls either....

I wish I had a Wacom :( It's much harder since I don't have a mouse. It'll make drawing so much easier for me.
mskiara18 1 year ago 6
@mskiara18 You can get a smaller Wacom for around $70 and maybe even cheaper on Amazon.com. It's a great investment.
hlnl56 1 year ago
I've been looking around for one ever since I made this comment for one that price. I should check out Amazon to. Thanks for the tip :)

Reiq could you let me know the settings for your cover pencil?
Like, size, opacity, grain, resat, bleed, and jitter?
The video resolution isn't good enough to tell just by looking at the video.

mysticwolf2015 1 year ago
Reiq, the lines are very clean in this picture. What size is the canvas? I usually have my canvas at around 12" x 18", and when I zoom as close as you do in the movie, my lines are slightly fuzzy/pixelated.

Hey Reiq. Amazing work and inspiring tutorial/ Just a quick question: I know you use Cover Pencil to do digital inking, but in many places I have discovered people recommend the Scratchboard Tool for Digital Inking, what made you go for the Cover Pencil instead? thanks!

i have both the corel draw and wacom bamboo tablet.. trying figure out wat settings for my tablet to draw and paint
Blokheadz 1 year ago
You need corel painter not corel draw. corel draw is vector software and for graphics more than painting.
Corel painter X usually is distributed with wacoms, it's similar to what he's using which i guess is corel painter11

Could I ask what version of Corel Painter you're using? I used to have Corel Painter Essentials downloaded when it came with my Wacom tablet about 5 years ago, but I wasn't sure if that version was even considered a good version to use.
bottledscarab 1 year ago
