    GTR is faster off the line due to the all wheel drive, launch control and the double clutch automatic transmission but the ZO6 catches up after the second shift easily

  • not stock, it need drag radials, otherwise its stuck in the 11's. and u do need to realize the gtr is a four seater with a good sized trunk while the corvette is a cramped 2 seater with no trunk to speak of. the gtr is more practical. if they made it purpose built to b just a sports car, then it would dominate.

  • i saw a gtr two days ago in Blacksburg Va at a doctors office and spoke to the owner myself. they made that car to be a sports car, believe me, but it certainly isnt much more practical than the corvette. the back seats will fit two five year olds. thats how tiny they are. honestly the tiniest back seats i have ever seen. the trunk is s decent size though... its about the same size as my GTO's... enough to daily drive but still not the greatest.

  • The Lingenfelter car is over 200k, but there are different stages just like the mustang saleen has different stages. You can put your own turbo on though for less than 10k and be just as fast.

  • im sure a turbo package for a corvette is more then 10k. the turbo itself, all the piping, full new exhaust and any internals or other parts that need to b changed to support the boost and then installation and tuning on top will b over 10k

  • Look it up. You can even get the SC for under 10. Go to summit racing. It sounds like your a little bias anyways. Google and search youtube for 10.9 stock z06. Don't state your opinions, state facts.

  • the only "stock 10.9" z06 ive seen said it was running on drag radials in the description so i dont count that as stock since its not.

  • sts and aps both make twin turbo packages with everything you need down to the handheld pre programmed tuner for under 10k.

  • u gotta add in installation on top of that, which in many cases is as expensive as the kit itself.

  • i suppose in some peoples' cases... i do everything myself because i have virtually every tool and a lift at my disposal, but both of those kits are 100% bolt on. they essentially could be done by anyone with some basic tools in their driveway. for some people though, cost of installation would def be a factor... i would think between 2500 and 3000 to have one of them installed by a professional

  • actually, i just looked it up... c6 sts kit is 7995 on their website, and i know i have seen them cheaper than that. so if you add installation to that its damn near 10k

  • it depends on what type of numbers you're looking for. any lsx motor can handle up to 8 pounds of boost without a problem, and up to ten pounds with meth and a good, safe tune. to give you an idea what id will do with an ls7, the aps kit takes you from a stock about 415whp to 625whp with only six pounds of boost (via aps's website). i cant really see any good reason to have much more horse power than that in a z06 lol and six pounds is VERY safe. i would imagine 10 pounds would be 700+whp

  • once you change internals though... its a whole different ball game. when an lsx is built for boost you can expect 1000+whp safely, assuming its done right. thats when you get into serious dollars though. if ten grand is the spending limit though, its still easy to make a z06 a serious street machine

  • certainly can. the internals are plenty strong enough to handle low boost. the only reason the thickness of the cylinder walls has been a recent topic is because gm decided to use the ls3 as their base for the ls9 due to the thicker walls. its only a precaution because they want the ls9 to be able to withstand long term punishment

  • Wrong. All Z06 fanatics know it does well in corners. Do the research. Compare it to $200K Euro cars on tracks like Hockenheim, Papenburg, Oschersleben, N'Ring, Top Gear. Those aren't very straight lines. No lack in handling in a Z06. 05 Mustang isn't made for cornering. What foreign cars lack in HP they try to make up for in handling.
