it depends what u mean by "care". keeping one or two as pets are fine, but what if 2 becomes 4 and 4 becomes eight? dont forget mice are the most sexually active animal on earth. they will invade farms and kill crops sometimes the numbers are so extreme dat they go after the animals. like all animals it's best to keep them alive and un-endangered (idk if dats a word or not), but once the numbers spread, you'll be sorry, so once again, define "care"

i don't mean to sound like an unsympathetic person. But if that rat/mice had lived what would it do? It would live either in some house. Which probably will be killed either way with some other animal. Or live in the wild which again killed by an animal or killed by some disease. You say the medical testing is necessarily but testing on animals won't tell us how humans will react. If a certain medication doesn't hurt animals, it doesn't mean it won't hurt humans. Plus, most of the testing they do is cruel and stupid. Why do we need to know how poisonous chemicals will affect animals? Of course it's going to kill them!
@torikatt Rats and mice are VERY genetically similar to people, so what happens to a mouse we can be fairly certain will happen to a person. That Flu shot that you took/will take? Tested on a mouse. Penicillin? Rats. Tylenol? Mice. As I said, mice and humans are very genetically similar, so testing on a mammal like mice is federally required before human testing can begin. Like MDFields said, better a mouse than a person.
Even though I have a pet snake that readily feeds on "live" rats and mice because he won't take frozen/thawed I still care about these animals as i'm hoping to own 2 rats and 2 mice someday as pets (the lucky ones!) I believe me I do feel bad about doing it but i've always wanted a snake and finally got it, my next pet will be a lizard or some rats and mice and btw could someone tell me what species of mice were those at 0:12 thanks appreciate it! let's save these intelligent animals!
What I find funny is that no one's caught on yet. When they say on a product's commercial that is might cause vomiting, blotting or death, that means that happened to a human. What I also find funny is why do we test things on animals. It would be better on a human because that is what it will be used for. We shouldn't test a new medicine on a rat because the rat will, undoubting, react to it differently than a human.
I owned a pet rat for about a year, he had a bright orange tail, loved cookies and being held--rats and mice are the same as any rodent, as any mammal, they are social and playful, they deserve more respect.

Medicines that don't cause side effects in animals may still cause side effects in humans. Medicines that have the potential to work may have been discarded based on an adverse effect on an animal. It's a highly flawed system and there are many beneficial alternatives that do not involve animal cruelty.

Of course PETA neglects to mention anything of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and all the extra training for the humane treatment of lab animals that researchers must undergo before they're even allowed to work with lab animals. Or the fact that most laboratory rodents are kept in tightly-regulated humane living conditions that surpass the living standards of the average household pet.

I love Rats and Mice. I understand that perhaps in some medical situations testing may be considered necessary but honestly I don't believe that any random human is automatically more important or significant than any random lab Rat or Mouse simply by virtue of it being a human. I love my Siamese Cat, Andrew, & only three people on Earth out rank him as far as I am concerned: Mom, Dad & Sister. They could experiment on violent criminals & I would be A okay with it. @snooky396 Actually we always use humane traps in our garage when their is a rodent and set it free outside. It feels a lot better to set the animal free and watch it run away than to see a dead little body!

We get really excited when we see them around/catch one because they're adorable little fluff balls with big ears and eyes. They do no harm except for pooping on boxes and eating the crumbs left around. I also have owned about 5 rats in my life, and they are extremely intelligent and friendly creatures. Just because you hate them, doesn't mean everyone does.
Most of those rats are bred in closed environments, and don't pose any threat to the remaining population. Would you prefer to have hundreds and hundreds of people killed by disease when there's the chance to save them with animal testing? Plants also feel external stimuli, and know when they're being attacked, even though they can't express it. Why do you guys at PETA eat them? This renders your argument about suffering a bit pointless. We have to eat and survive. If we want animals, so be it.
I am 100% against the way that they do it. These animals have a soul, they have feelings, they feel pain. Just because they can't tell you it hurts doesn't mean that it's okay. If they find a way to test on animals without hurting them or causing any pain then that's okay with me. But as of now I am against animal testing. Question time--peta says don't support March of Dimes cause they use mice and rats in their medical research. My niece was born two and half months early, if not for the research and medical advances by juse of these mice and rats my niece,along with many other premature babies, not be here today. Of course PETA neglects to mention anything of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and all the extra training for the humane treatment of lab animals that researchers must undergo before they're even allowed to work with lab animals. I used to have 2 wonderful and amazing pet rats, and i miss them dearly. Though it makes me cry what rats are used for, in a way, i thank them for that. I know they didn't choose it, but without them, i guess lots of lives have been saved....

I love Rats and Mice. I understand that perhaps in some medical situations testing may be considered necessary but honestly I don't believe that any random human is automatically more important or significant than any random lab Rat or Mouse simply by virtue of it being a human. I love my Siamese Cat, Andrew, & only three people on Earth out rank him as far as I am concerned: Mom, Dad & Sister. They could experiment on violent criminals & I would be A okay with it. Some people shouldn't count!

@snooky396 Actually, my basement is full of mice, and we use humane traps where we can collect them and set them free in the nearby park. We get really excited when we see them around/catch one because they're adorable little fluff balls with big ears and eyes. They do no harm except for pooping on boxes and eating the crumbs left around. I also have owned about 5 rats in my life, and they are extremely intelligent and friendly creatures. Just because you hate them, doesn't mean everyone does.

Most of those rats are bred in closed environments, and don't pose any threat to the remaining population. Would you prefer to have hundreds and hundreds of people killed by disease when there's the chance to save them with animal testing? Plants also feel external stimuli, and know when they're being attacked, even though they can't express it. Why do you guys at PETA eat them? This renders your argument about suffering a bit pointless. We have to eat and survive. If we want animals, so be it.

I am 100% against the way that they do it. These animals have a soul, they have feelings, they feel pain. Just because they can't tell you it hurts doesn't mean that it's okay. If they find a way to test on animals without hurting them or causing any pain then that's okay with me. But as of now I am against animal testing. I support rat and mouse testing, but only for medical procedures that will save millions of human lives. Surely some mouse lives spent is better than millions of human lives wasted? Think of it as Martyrdom. (No, not the kind where you drop a grenade when you die, but I suppose that would shock some lab workers.)
But the line is crossed with beauty and cosmetic products. Killing rats and mice to look good is unreasonable. PETA need to start looking on both sides of the story though.

Peta should look into making the NECESSARY tests more humane and comfortable for the animals, and the UNNECESSARY tests banned. Or at least exposed, until the company changes of it's own accord due to uproar.
