  • @Ooga001

You claim to promote santhana dharma but hate untouchables. You pig headed, i am brahmin by birth too and we are living in 21st century. Kamal may have over done anti-brahmin sentiments in his movies but you are nobody. get lost.

  • kamal is a living legend...Hats off to this great actor...

  • Can't anyone translate it???

I am from delhi, and I don't know anything about Tamil, except the fact that Kamal is the best India has ever had.

  • @Acme07 I will do it for you buddy... :) shortly n post it to u!!

  • @Acme07

All he says is, current generation is thinking that becoming a hero or a director is pretty easy. He stresses that in order to become a doctor, a student should clear MBBS and its period is 5 years. So how can a youngster can think of a director after being an assistant director for a year and half... Bhaarathiraja or Balachander has not become a director overnight They strived a lot to attain such a position...The good thing to be noted that he did not include his name in that list.

  • Kamal is a living legend too and deserves all the respect! But don't insult other artists! Its childish! They have different talents and style! Cinema would be so boring if everyone was like Kamal!

  • I watch this video again and again. It's so good..

    'பஞ்சாயத்து போர்ட்ல மரத்தடில உட்கார்ந்து லட்டர் படிக்கிற மாதிரி எனக்கு படிச்சுக் காட்டுனாங்க...'

    'நாமளும் ஈசியா கையாண்டுடலாம்.. நமக்கும் ஆளுமை வந்துடும்னு நெனக்குறாங்க'

  • let's honour a real talent and genius, instead of praising and giving support to trash, he deserves more appreciation and more recognition than anybody in the film industry especially in tamilnadu, he is not a hypocrite like other actors, who talk like saints and behave differently.

  • yaarum saagalaiyae...kalachaaram sethukkondu irukkirathu...count on kamal to give nethi adi's :)

  • yes real nethi adis as opposed to koodhis vijay ajith mattrum veru naygal..

  • very nice interview, i like it. Kamalhassan is a all time "HERO"

  • nice duds......

  • god bless kamalhaasan...

  • Wow... Wow...

    Long live kamalhasan...

  • I am mourning the collapse of good tamil cinema.. thats why recent talents like mani, arr, ravi k chandran, have run away from the industry..

hope people like kamal bring it back to life by directing more movies or acting in movies like mahanadi instead of playing mass hero characters

  • looking at heroes like vijay, ajith, danush, simbu... and realizing what tamil cinema has come down to from the days of kamal, balu mahendra, mahendran, bharatiraja, kb, mani ratnam just brings a tear to our eyes...

  • great,,,he deserve so much respect. wake up tamils...

  • kamal is one on one world star

  • put english subtitles someone :(

  • God given talents to this amazing actor ! Long live kamal. He even exceeds Sivaji ! What a masterpiece.

  • kamal hassan is the bes

  • I am in disbelief. He is not using English words/sentences as other so called Tamil actors do. He is speaking in pure Tamil! I am glad to see this! Good job Kamal!

  • totally agree.he is the only 1 actor who speaks in the best Tamil language ever without the influence of "english' accent...Go Kamal

  • respect to this man...an asset to the Indian movie industry...

  • What happened to Maruthanayagam?

  • Kamal is such a talented actor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hfghhfd

  • Dont talk about Mother Fucking God issues in Kamal realted Video...

If you belive in god then Go & Fuck him/her....

    Listen what Dr.Kamalahasan says..

Beliving in God is a Self confidentless activity.

  • Who are you to judge and tell people what they can say and can not say. He has every right to speak about it. Its him views/opinion. You dont have to agree wit them.

  • love is god.. love kamal..

  • What year was this recorded?

  • arvyyy9 guess u take offence at small things..grow up..

what he is sayin is abs true.dont scream for the change become the change..so profound..hits u hard. If monetary gain is the only objective then there is no use talkin abt the aesthetics of cinema...the profession has to grow and has to be respected and for that we need to look upto people like him....

Also in india...people always conveniently label self confidence as arrogance. pathetic.

  • I honestly could not agree with you more. Kamal is obviously an accomplished and talented actor, and he's most likely aware of it. There's nothing wrong with having a honest opinion, but many Indians would consider it self-bloated, which is idiot.

Read a few of the comments I posted, regarding arvyyy9. They're corollary to what you said.

  • fuckers, dont u have the heart to appreciate talent and hardwork?? which fucker is talking abt god??

kamal is god... god is love .. love kamal

  • You just said "Kamal is God." So obviously, you're the fucker.

Get over it, will you. He's an actor and an entertainer and is subject to criticisms. I'm sure he can take criticisms better than his idiotic fan-base (goes for Rajinikanth's, Vijay's and other Tamil hero fan bases too). He's no Albert Schweitzer, Norman Borlaug, or Dr. Kotnis who are genuine heroes who have touched and helped improve human lives without posing as one on the silver screen.

  • So what ? Still he is a good human...to be a great human u needn't scale and compare to Gandhi or others..

in cinema, he is God , no doubt abt it

  • To me, he isn't god. You got a problem with that?

As for him being a good human; what has he done that defines him as one?

IF the Tamil brahmin angst against his constant portrayals in his movies as they being a vile group (as if they don't hear that in real life) IS TRUE, then all I have to say is that he epitomizes a bully who is picking on the weakest and least-united communities in Tamil Nadu.

That to me, is not a good human being.

  • I don't have a problem if u view it either way..Are you hurt since your a staunch Tamil Brahmin....its bitter to accept

  • I am a T-B, but a not staunch one. I am not hurt as much as I am bemused at his propensity to batter a rather defenseless group. Granted that many of them are annoying traditional, but do you recall any riots or bombings instigated by them? Many Dalits died in the 1995 riots in Dindigul at the hands of Thevars, and yet he doesn't miss a chance to wax THEIR dolphins.

The above is a reply to the fact "IF" his portrayals of T-B's are true. If so, then he's a victim of "self-hating Jew" syndrome.

  • shut up !!

    dnt think ur smart!!

  • u r nuthing but an altruistic BASTARD... A man is not great if he earns 100 million the shitty way and donates it all to charity.. he is still a piece of shit... only a han who excells in what he dose is great... there is no other substitute for greatness u twisted piece of shit. understand that first and and take ur altruistic crap somewhere else... that's what it means to be great.. i am an atheist so god is petty shit . but what one means is if there was a god of acting, he would epitomize it

  • First, you absolutely missed the point of my statement. I was inferring to his profession, which is basically a job where you pretend to be someone else. I'd rather reserve accolades for people who have contributed more substantially to society. Secondly, at least I am altruistic, but your retort is indicative of a spineless and idiotic cretin, unable to swallow an ounce of criticism and is fit to dwell with the bottom-feeders. That's who I define "fanboys" as.

  • sorry but what is degrading about the acting profession.. and why should you reserve your accolades only for the greatest achievement, it should be handed out whenever it is deserved.. a vmoie isnt an essential service i agree.. but movies can have an impact on society positive and negative.. i hold an msc but still have learnt lost from thsi actor and his perspective on certain aspects (anbe sivam for eg)..

  • There's nothing degrading about the acting profession. It's you FANBOYS I have serious issues with. You over-react to any criticism towards your idols. It is not like what you see on the screen is REAL (duh!) and yet you act as if it is. Moreover, you are so obsessed with them, you might as well be jerking them off and swallowing their cum as if it were nectar. Man!, your obsession is borderline homo-erotic and you don't even realize it.

    Grow the fuck up, FANBOY!

  • am i the one over reacting??? am i the one who seems to have lost the plot and started swearing away.. i have provided a rational argument for your weak point and whilst your response is completely rude , you have to expect a reply to suggestions made by you that hold no truth..

  • Oh please, spare me the logical re-buttal bullshit. You know you cannot get enough of your obsession by your absolutely asinine arguments about "welfare organizations" celebrating his birthday. Dude, I WAS THERE!!! Moreover, despite his "ASSCAR WORTHY" performances that you fanboys so gloriously rave of, he has YET to be invited to act in a foreign film or receive a foreign recognition like Sivaji Ganesan (Chevalier) or Om Puri (OBE). How's that for a rational rebuttal, fanboy?

  • do you know he doesnt have a fans club like many other actors but converted it to a a good will organisation that makes many contributions to society from donating eyes,to heart transplant of 100 kids, infact he has contributed his body for scienetific research once he is no more.. dont dish people without knowledge cause you make yourself look pretty silly

  • Wow....it's also people like you who think that he really does not have fan clubs. Do you take me for an idiot? I lived in Trichy from 1993-1998, and for his 40th birthday, his FAN CLUBS celebrated all over from Trichy to Madurai. Suck on that!

Plus, guess what, I too have pledged to donate my eyes and have planned to donate my body for scientific research. Where's my fucking temple?!

    FANBOY!!!

  • difference between a welfair organisation and fans club.learn. secondly you may have donated whatever but you wont have a fan club with that stinking attitude oh and guess what. you are a nobody. ofc you are a unhappy and unsuccesful person carrying about your trippe on the internet.. other than that yoru a nobody..appreciate art and he is lauded because unlike other actors who exploit their fans ,he channels that affection towards the well being of society.hears just about enough from u. g bye

  • "Channels affection towards the well-being of society", my ass! His constant portrayals of Tam Brams as vile humans is as far away from a HUMANIST and SECULAR stance for which he received the Abraham Kovoor award. Some "humanist" attitude beating down on an ethnic group considered the most weak and disunited in today's society. Schoolyard bullies give up after a while and even James Bond has stopped ragging on the "commies." It's cocky c**ts like him (and their fanboys), who just don't grow up.

  • For the record, Dasavatharam was a 3 hr long piece of his pathetic record-hunting, show-boating, masquerading as an insight on chaos-theory. He has had great performances in the past in movies "Raja Parvai" or "Moondram Pirai", but in recent times he has embarked on a self-serving agenda, displayed quite obviously in his movies.

Go chomp on that piece of criticism, fanboy! If that doesn't satisfy you, ask your "god" to unzip his pants and then suck on it till kingdom come.

  • Lastly, the people I mentioned as being truly worthy of respect, like Dr. Borlaug, Dr. Kotnis, are not those among those earning $100 million the shitty way. Looks like someone needs to read a lot more on these people before resorting to knee-jerk criticisms.

    FANBOY!!!

  • He speaks about culture while destroing it..oops...

  • Stupid Kamal is talented, and fool not accept God.

  • I don't like it when he says NOT everybody can be like BharathiRaja or SPB or Balachander. That is quite idiotic and there are equally good people in the industry now, if not better. The industry is always much larger than anybody, no matter how great! Also how come there is no mention of God in any of this. They do 'Saami Poojai' before every movie!. He needs to be less pompous. Everything in life evolves and we have to do the best in the times we live.

  • i think what he's saying is not that no one can be equal to Bharathiraja or Balachander but that such talent is rare and that the skill comes only with hard work and experience.

  • I beg to disagree...talent is abundant in India..people do not nuture..they only thwart it!. Look at all the youth programmes on TV now...how much talent is there! Go check in YourTube itself!. You have to retire gracefully!.

  • Talent is abundant yes..Kamal Hassan is not denying this. What he's saying is that people should not think that just because video cameras etc are easily available, the cinema profession is easy. Firstly not everyone is not equally talented. Secondly it requires experience and training. Even AR Rahman became succesful only after over a decade of training in the music industry. Listen carefully to what he's saying at 3:40 to 4:00 especially.

  • What you are saying is blatantly obvious .. nothing new there!. But Kamal's posturing is incorrect in my opinion. He is acting as though he is the MD of a multi-national trying to set policy!. Forget it!. No big Hollywood actor will talk like this about his own industry!. It is not for him to say this .. completely out of place.

  • In fact by saying what he is saying, he is actually indirectly remarking that the industry is not mature and there is ignorance amongst people. This can be insulting to many. Our cinema is not Hollywood .. grow up!. Our cinema is our cinema..period!.

  • Comparison with the medical profession is so silly. If someone is beautiful and can act they will get recruited. That's the nature of entertainment!. This industry has least responsibility, unlike a doctor or surgeon who will be held accountable. Totally ridiculous comparison.

  • Yes, there is a lot of effort that goes into making a movie, but the rewards can also be high. It's just a high risk high return profession with glorified celebs. Mr. Kamal, don't try to reason this too much!. We have enough talent to convey the kind of movies we make!!!.

  • Acting is NOT based on BEAUTY. God, you're completely incompetant. Physical appearance is always a bonus, but it isn't a pre-requisite.

Acting is an Art, just like music, or painting is. It requires inborn or developed talent.

  • I think you missed the point entirely. Our Indian culture has many great things to offer, and so does Hollywood. Hollywood has many striving directors that want nothing more than their talent to be unraveled & acknowledged; money isn't a motive.

Thus the quality of films they put out is greater. MOST Indian Movies are horrible these days, due to a lack of passion and acceptance of mediocrity.

The society should make it a goal to root out the untalented.

  • The problem with Indian movies now is that MOST producers are only doing it for the quick cash, so the quality itself suffers. Its just another cheap budget movie. I'm not saying there isn't talent.

Its just that, so many people in the industry take advantage of the popular culture, and try to make profit from it. In essence, those WITH talent are silenced.

  • Dear Kamalji, I appreciate your contributions to and creative mastery in Indian (Tamil) cinema. Cinema is an abstract form of art. Please don't sound like a FUNDAMENTALIT. Had MGR or Sivaji sounded like you, we'd not have had Rajni Kants, Kamal Hasans, Illayrarajas, Bharathi Rajas, and SPBs. Don't compare science with Arts (like cinema)!!!! Medicine is a defined form of science;Cinemas is an open form of belief. Kamalji as usual has once again lost the clarity in his communication....

  • Dear friend,

Also watch part-2. As usual, he conveys few complex and yet important things in a simple ways possible. Ofcourse, you also need context of his talk, which is not clear from the clip. Anyhow, instead of complaining, try to increase your knowledge base.

  • Saaalah! Looks like a 30ish year youth :P And the brain of his real age.

  • " Dont scream for a change , become the change" - The words from the greatest actor India has ever produced.Lucky to be born in this century to see and admire this great actor

  • His dedication is an excellent example

  • He's the best actor in Indian cinema, and much better than many people in Hollywood too ;D

  • why is it not working for me?

  • thala,yr just great!!!!

  • He looks damn younger... wow.

He's not just an Cinema guy... something much much more than that.
