If you are able to describe the exact brand and type of forklift you used to drive, that is de-facto proof that you are not experienced operating forklifts! :)

@ke6gwf "If you are able to describe the exact brand and type of forklift you used to drive, that is de-facto proof that you are not experienced operating forklifts! :)"
Or maybe proof this person is observant and has a good memory? Not seeing the logic here. What if a guy works for a company that owns two forklifts and drives those two for 30 years? Is he not both experienced AND a dumbass for not remembering what brand they are? Capacity knowledge is part of the job, you'd know the brand.
My comment was intended mainly as humor, note the ":)"
I was referring to the people that are certified and experienced on all types and sizes of forklifts, compared to just having __OPERATED__ one (or 2! :)
The person with 30 years on 2 forklifts is gonna be a heck of a lot better on those 2 lifts than I would be, but may not be able to run another style due to lack of exposure.
I was trying to point out that listing one lift in detail implied lack of overall lifttruck experience.
a week ago, a lift driver was also driving foward with a large load blocking his view. had no idea i was infront of him, the front tire ran over my foot/ankle, leaving my foot sideways pinned under the lift. people NEED to be properly trained on these machines. failure to do so can relsult in serious injury and even death
why do these videos only play for a few seconds? I mean why can't we see the look on the face of the jackass? the best part was probably his reaction, the scratch on his head while starring at the failure damage before his puffy eyes.
his load is as tall as the roof of his cab, he was screwed to see anything in front of him. its like driving with the windshield painted some times with those things
you Always drive backwards when you have a load that is blocking your frontal view while traveling......when it comes time to put the pallet away or in the truck frontwards you make sure the path is clear then you proceed giving your horn a little honk to let ppl know
"you Always drive backwards when you have a load that is blocking your frontal view "
Exactly, If he ever bothered to get training on a counter balance, or any other fork lift, that shuold've been one of the first things he would've learned. Apart from common sense lol
The load was obviously blocking his view somewhat, plus the timing had something to do with it. I lay the blame 90% on the forklift driver and 10% on the pickup driver. He should have kept his distance to begin with, but the forklift operator should have started SLOWLY and checked his field of view before traveling in it. A moving forklift is MUCH easier to predict than a standing one!
I'm a qualified forklift driver. When doing my coarse, i was told a million times never travel forwards with a load that obstructs your view. Travel in reverse.
i drove forklift for a few years at a window manufaturing place we had glass racks just like these.. the scary thing is when they arent strapped properly n u slam on the breaks for whatever reason and someone gets a 100lb sheet of glass coming down on them.
he should b driving backward to the trailer to have clear sight....... THEN turn it so when you go forward then.,......... you are facing ONLY the trailer opening.............. quite simple actualy
I work for the utility as a mechanical instructor and teach forklift as one of my "core" courses. All sit down fork lifts drive forks first. The ones you stand on like the one I drive at my place of work... we drive with the forks behind us. Its just the way their built. Now who is the one with 100% stupidity?
I don't mean to be an arse, but I have driven forklifts where you really couldn't see too much in front of you even when there was *no* load! No offense, I'm just saying. :) You're right though, he should have been in reverse.
1. Forklift driver who have loaded his cargo too much vertically, which makes him not able to see forward. As of this the driver are supposed to drive backwards since you cannot see what's in front of your forklift.
2. driver of the car. yeah, he is not supposed to be there but he is.
you are supposed to spin around and go in reverse wen u are carrying something that blocks your vision, that is the operator's fault. there is no way he could see around that, what if one of his coworker's didnt see him coming and walked right in front of him, its the responsibility of the operator not the truck driver
the people who drive a forklift get used to it they no longer pay attention, they just driver, just like this guy he just took off without making sure his path was clear, me myself i almost hot hit by a forklift in the bread factory, i jumbed out of the way and lookd at the driver, he didnt say sorry, instead he looked at me like its my fault
youre right it would be his fault. the operator is responsible to make sure all pedestrians never get hit. but really, youre in our environment, just be aware and stay away from where we drive. stay to teh sides of aisles, and respect the fact that danger is present, and that even if it is the drivers fault, it wont help to bring you back if you were to perish in a accident.
If you get into an area where there are forklifts operated like a warehouse, always be aware that you are the one who isn't supposed to be there, there should be warning signs posted at the entry of the area. And if you have to cross that area, stay clear until you can get eyecontact with the driver, then he will know that you are present and make way for your safe passage.
Forkliftdrivers should use their heads like owls allways checking all around for obstacles, but as his line of sight is blocked while manouvering forward, he cannot allways know that you stepped in, it needs coordination from both sides.
the scary part is that the forklift driver gets into a car and shares the road with the rest of us after his shift is over! he cant drive a forklift i imagine he sucks at driving his car.
lol theres nothing smart about it, its common sense mate. He obviously wasnt paying attention when doing his FLT test because its one of the first things they teach. Lucky it was only a car he hit

Any well trained forklift operator should know to NEVER drive forward with a load that blocks ANY parts of his/her view PERIOD.
Always drive backward with a high load unless driving up a ramp, and then you need to employ a spotter.

Forkliftdrivers should use their heads like owls allways checking all around for obstacles, but as his line of sight is blocked while manouvering forward, he cannot allways know that you stepped in, it needs coordination from both sides.
