  • do you play the 3 notes per hand on the snare drum with your wrist only? no muller or rebound? no accents?

  • That's fucking insane.

  • I'm not a drummer but without you DECONSTRUCTION would'nt be the same masterpiece, thank you dirk

  • you do this near the end of hyperconscience, right?

  • INSTASUBSCRIBE. Always thought ur drumming was AMAZING on Antares and I thought that the way u incorporated ur fucking amazing blasts like this on Decon was awesome... like on Pandemic for example....

  • Awesome work, Dirk. Would love to see you demo the drumming you did for Juular!

  • The Dirk Train!

  • would't it be easier with a swiss triplet?

  • @allmetaliswelcome I don't think so. The flam accent switches hands which allows time to move to the hi-hat, whereas the swiss triplet doesn't... I haven't tried but it seems nearly impossible to move comfortably from snare to hi-hat (or vice-versa) within two triplets at high speeds.

  • @DirkVerbeurenDrummer i've seen this drummer called sean lang use a swiss triplet in that way, you can find it in this video on 42:30 if you're interested /watch?v=iyyE0BZi2gI&feature=relmfu

you are definately right, but it does seem possible :)

  • Cool stuff Dirk, I can imagine this is a great exersice too if you want to work your ambidex between hands, and learn more control and dynamics with your left.

  • the variation on Decon, with 16th triplets, seems impossible. thats so fucking fast

  • FYI Metal Drummers this is the rudiment called swiss triplets, learn all your rudiments and turn them into beats and solos for more good times.

  • Sick! Sick Sick! hahaha ;)

  • Ahhh... Very cool. I first saw you do that in a brief bit of one of Devin's "behind the scenes" type vids for Decon and couldn't figure out what the hell you were doing lol.

    Now I know!

  • I knew it! Awesome :)

  • For fast speeds on bass do you do double strokes, like for "Anthem to Chaos"?

  • @napalmmice No, I mostly play all singles, still working on getting those doubles up to speed!

  • @DirkVerbeurenDrummer great drumming dirk, i got a question, what kind of sticking pattern that you used on song "cheeseburger" i saw that your video with devin, your hands moved from snare to hi hat and cymbals, really cool thx :D

  • Thanks a lot, Dirk, I've been trying to figure this one out (heard it on Deconstruction).

  • so freakin cool

  • 2:28 sounds so much like a train picking up speed.

  • Ahahaaa! He sounds like someone from the Muppets.

  • @samuelc93 He sounds pretty much like god to me! But hey, who are we to judge? :-)

  • @laffe89 True true my friend. Great drummer

  • Yess you're the man Dirk, I love your technique

  • I love you Dirk, you're one of the best metal drummers on the scene, please post more videos, hopefully playalongs to some of the songs you've recorded? :D :D :D

  • Thanks for this Dirk, I've been a big fan of your work and this is probably my favorite blast ever, always wondered what is behind it, when I heard it on Deconstruction is shit golden unicorns.

  • Dirk you are a genius using that rudiment that way!! I think I will apply that to my band's songs. Thanks a bunch!!

  • You should make a video explaining what exactly you do on certain parts of Deconstruction... because it's seriously confusing and would really help out.

  • Its like window shopping, i can see its awesome, i'll just never be able to play it!

  • Very nice and clear dude. Hope to see much more. I subscribed

  • Really interesting!

    Your chain is promising.

I can not wait longer to see the next video.

  • It's a variation of this. On Deconstruction, I play 16th note triplets on the kicks, instead of following the snare.

  • @DirkVerbeurenDrummer very cool. that is one hard part to figure out, this makes it so clear, thanks for sharing!

  • @DirkVerbeurenDrummer The snare following is what the live drummer for DTP does doesn't he? I noticed it on a drumcam video of one of DTP's live performances of Juular on the running sextuplets. It was SBBSBB whereas it's all BBBBBB on the album version.

  • @MarinVillalpando15 On Juular, I play old school blast beats (snare in between the kicks) whereas Ryan interprets it with hammer blasts (snare on the kicks). Most of the song has no blastbeats though, just triplets on the kicks and the snare on the time, like a fiery train from hell!

  • @DirkVerbeurenDrummer I see. Haha, exactly the point! Perfect style for Juular!

  • this is the same pattern used in the DTP song deconstruction right after "HIT IT!!" correct?
